My name is Kaiya Pelletier and I am documenting my metal journey as I discover and listen to metal music for the first time ever. I'm in my mid 20's and I've been a singer songwriter and performer for over 10 years. Currently I'm in 3 bands and gigging around in Asheville, NC where I live. I have a Bloodhound named Spooner, I love mexican food, Stephen King, collecting CD's and cassettes and my favorite movies are tied between Jurrassic Park and Alien.

Mortician Shirt, but never heard Alters of Madness????🤔🤣 WTF!!!!!!
Nowadays metalheads just miss the best records.
Also almost every modern metal album nowdays is too clean and sterile. New Metallica is a good example. And don't get me wrong, i still love Metallica, but I think metal music should have some dirt and you should feel it in your balls!!
Not me. I love diving into albums
@MegaAndyGG yeah that's what makes MA's classic albums great, the organic dirty sound, new stuff is way too overproduced
Does she know that Mortician is a band too?
NOCTURNUS
It's clearly Mortician
@@Bladesofkaos that wasn't the question
@@JayDcay wasn't answering to a question
@@Bladesofkaos then what were you doing? Lol 🤷♂️
Been playing for 38 years on the drums-- ALTARS OF MADNESS is still one of the toughest drum albums ever recorded!!!!! SUPER INTENSE!!!!
What's more impressive is that those musicians back then didn't have ProTools to fix minor mistakes. Things were mixed, but that drumming is about as authentic as it gets.
Pete would practice until he passed out
HELL YESSSSSSS!!!! I love this so much!!!! Thank you for shining light once again on this album!!!!
pete sandoval, absolute legend
As in Hard to play?
I'm from Brazil and I had the opportunity to play opening for Morbid Angel in 2005 in Rio de Janeiro I had opportunity to meet Trey Azagthoth, David Vicent and Pete Sandoval ... never I'll forget
What band did you played in?
Ancestral Malediction? great stuff my dude
I love the format. I'm old enough to remember when a group of friends would sit down around the tape player and listen to an album together...this feels close and brings me back a bunch of years :)
It's a contender for best death metal album of all time in my book.
for me Also together with ugra karma from impaled nazarene
'Left Hand Path' by Entombed gets my vote.
@@vladdracool3255 Ugra is so off the wall, creative, and really stands alone.
Ridiculous. MA is not even the best death metal band in their own state.
Cannibal corspe tomb, and butchered and bleeding have a case?
Personally most of my favorite Morbid Angel songs are on other albums, but I think this album is probably their best overall album.
God of Emptiness , Maze of Torment, Visions From the Darkside , Chapel of Ghouls, and Ageless I Am are my favorite Morbid Angel songs
To me Domination and Covenant are far superior than Altar of Madness.
@@fabiodewitt9140 It's true musically they definitely are, but the Vocals are much better on Altars of Madness
@@fabiodewitt9140 Todos pueden superiores , pero , el ALTARS es el mejor . Si hubieras estado ahí cuando apareció , ufff MORTAL . COPIAPO CHILE KMOT
@@fabiodewitt9140 Domination is not even in the convo IMO. Blessed are the Sick, Altars of Madness, Covenant then all the rest of it can f1ck off. Just how i see it though
Legendary death metal album.
To me this is like the Ride the Lightning of death metal. First and one of the few death metals i like the entire album and dont skip songs. This is a masterpiece. Evil Spells is one of the greatest metal sings ever.
Comentário irrelevante.
urgh Metallica, get that shite out of here.
@@Grandmastergav86 youre SO cool dude
@@Grandmastergav86 you're out of your mind, '80s metallica is s-tier forever.
My favorite Morbid Angel album!
Lord of all Fevers and Plagues was added to the CD release version, and was an update version of a track that originally appeared on their (unreleased at the time) debut Abominations of Desolation.
I named my fish Pazuzu.
@@6evil6dead64 amazing
Phenomenal band. I've been binging on Covenant and Domination lately. They had it all. Lyrics, vocals, guitars, drums. Awesome Lovecraft references in lyrics. One of the most musically competent bands ever regardless of genre.
ruclips.net/video/lS8Y-zxB2cs/видео.html too!
me too
I'stll have my morbid shirts from the 90's. I wear them in public nothing but praises
Gathered for a sacred rite. Subconscious minds allied. Call upon immortals. Call upon the oldest ones to intercede. Rid us of our human waste. Cleanse our earthly lives. Make us one with darkness. Enlighten us to your ways.
AMAZING ALBUM.with pete sandoval+david vincent of TERRORIZER.
always cool watching someone react to these classics for the first time
For sure. I'm just sad the youngsters never got to see these bands live in their prime.
That part in Visions From The Dark Side probably inspired a lot of Melodic Death and Black metal from the 90s.
In the top 10 of Death Metal albums of all times🖤
That guitar in Immortal Rites sounds from another planet. It's just hilarious creepy🤘
I know every song off by heart, chords, riffs, and can play the drums to every song off ( of every album ) by heart!!!!!! Hardest working band!!!!!!! 1989 all over again!!!! LOVE AND RESPECT!!!!!!❤
holy shit youre that dude who played on "new" rottrevore?
WOW!!!! I was the one who paid for the recording and Rutan being my best friend-- he was the one that invited me down to fulfill a long time dream!!!!! Thank you so much!!!!
Saw this classic line up in 1991 in Dublin Ireland played Alters and Blessed tracks Trey was savage
Extreme metal of the late 80's/first 90's was pure gold!
If you want some other suggestions:
First album from Deicide (self titled)
"The Somberlain" by Dissection
"De Mysteriis dom Sathanas" by Mayhem
"Under the Sign of the Black Mark" by Bathory
"Slowly we Rot" by Obituary
PS. you have a new subscriber 😎👍
The Somberlain I'll second that......
This is the sickest album ever. I listened to this every single day on my discman in high school lol
Their best album and one of the best extreme metal albums ever.
Also, love the mortician shirt 🤟🏻
David Vincent's version is that Richard Brunelle started having substance problems and was just not keeping up with the level professionalism required by the band, he was later given another chance in 1994 to play with them on tour as live member and perhaps continue as a full member, but allegedly the problems remained there and the band just wasn't his 100% priority. Which was at a time Morbid Angel was doing really successful and got a major label contract, had videos on MTV, etc, so in a way, he left himself behind...
Did they ever say how Richard brunelle passed away ?
Morbid Angel are something else 🤘🏻
Love your taste for rough music! ♥
I loved EVERY SECOND of this! Are you planning on doing the next few albums? Their progression is really interesting.
Altars is a Masterpiece!!! I was with my older Sister when I bought this way back in the day!!! 😀 😎 👍 ❤
This is my favorite MA album! Yeahh! 🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽
The most consistent and Enjoyable Morbid Angel album from start to finish
Domination?
@@apepv9077 This one and Domination are both hit or miss. Covenant and Formulas are the two most consistent albums in the discography
I am proud of you for listening MA ❤️
3 albums after this one girl:
Nocturnus - The Key (featuring Mike browning from morbid Angel on drums/vocals)
Exhorder - Slaughter in the Vatican
Kataklysm - Temple of Knowledge
Got this when it released, I’ve listened to it countless times and it still blows my mind today. Absolute classic.
I concider myself lucky that i´ve spend my youth in that time period of metal.
Dave Vincent visited us with Vltimas. A cool artist, he behaves like an actor on stage.
This album RULES!
89, 90, 91 , and 92 the Golden age of metal... There was no time like that, so many good bands came out with such force...
Faxxxxxxxxx Especially 1990
Trve.
This album also was very influential to norwegian black metal bands.
First heard Morbid Angel and Bolt Thrower on the Grindcrusher compilation album in 1990. It’s so good it should be reviewed on its own. There are several versions, the 70+ minute one is the one to hear, although the shorter version has some different tracks that are equally good. The Bolt Thrower and Napalm Death songs are swapped out, for instance, but Bolt Thrower’s World Eater is a highlight on the longer version.
It's easily in the top ten DM albums of all time, how does one only discover it now...
Because time is relative.
some people are just new to the genre and discover things differently.
The younger generation(generation Z) have recently discovered MA's magnum opus which is AOM\m/🔥🔥🔥
some people don't listen to metal
Do What Thou Wilt Shalt be the Whole of the Law!
Yes, "Lord Of All Fevers And Plague" was a cd bonus track, not included on the vinyl record. Great song though.
Awesome to see you grooving out to these tunes
Dig Pearson is the founder of Earache Records. That's why he's mentioned as (executive) producer on those early albums. I doubt that he was actually very much involved in the studio recordings (if at all).
Altars of Madness solo is one of the best solos ever in any genre
HAPPY to see that you start with a 1. album !!
On Blasphemy, the guitar part you were describing had a phaser effect on it. You can change the speed of it. On this one it was set very slow.
Also, Fevers was not on the album because it wouldn't fit on the vinyl version.
One of the greatest albums of all time. I understand how it can be overwhelming at first, but it totally makes sense after a few listens. They are geniuses :)
I am happy uou are listening to this album specifically. This is just an all time classic album. It is the Reign in Blood of its genre. 1989 was a great year for death metal. It is when I first started getting into death metal. Sepultura Beneath the remains, Bolt Thrower Realm of Chaos, Carcass Symphonies of Sickness and Terrorizer World Downfall which the drummer and bass player from morbid angel played on were great albums of that time.
How about some Celtic Frost? I mean, another legendary extreme metal group that melts your brain and face. Tom Warrior is a legend frfr no cap 😂
At that time, MORBID ANGEL alongside ENTOMBED ( Sweden) Napalm Death ( uk Grind Death) and many other bands were real predecessors of DEATH METAL genre! They are LEGENDARY! Trey Azagthoth psychedelic and yet virtuous guitar solos are incredible!
awesome! I was 17 when I got this album. Never been the same.
Saw them live on their first tour. Just awesome.....
I like that Mortician shirt! Some east coast NYC death metal right there!
Second time viewing, subscribed just now, sweet backdrop
They released Abominations of Desolation in 1986. A kind of unofficial debut. Had the cassette.
I had that cassette.
You should review their first album Abominations Of Desolation.
Memories of walking home from school listening to this on my sony wakman. Getting ready to double bass blast beat the neighbours into hell.
Lmao I love the face melts you o when it changes tempo\break downs. This album is magnificent
I've seen that you talk about Covenant's 'God of emptiness'. I must say that I love this song, and I don't care at all about whether it's slow or not. It has a dark atmosphere that makes it unique. Nice video, keep on doing it
Bow to me splendily 😳
Well, it has been a lot of time since 1991 waiting for you to discover Morbid Angel. Pupuci! (this is the romanian for Xsss) Thank you!
Oh and Pete Sandoval- the drummer 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
This was the album that got me into death metal. I saw them on tour supporting Alters not knowing one song by them. by the end of the show, I bought a CD and a shirt from their merch table.
Great Choice such a ahead of times tune so much mind fkry on the rifs and beats ....pure evil \-/ Cheers :)
Awesome band
Lord of All Fevers was only on the original cd, not the vinyl and cassette versions. Probably because of time restrictions of the vinyl version or because Dig, the head of Earache, wanted a bonus track to promote the cd with.
Got 'em all. 🤘
Old-school Metalhead here. 👈
This is not their best album,
but an omen of great things
to come...
Covenant!
There is a reason that "Lord of Fevers and Plagues" was omitted - it was not present on the LP and cassette releases. It was included as a bonus track on the CD release. At the time of release, CDs were just starting to replace LP/cassette in terms of media sales. The album has a sticker on the cover that noted that it was also available on CD because not all minor label releases would get a CD release at the time.
EDIT - she stumbles on this reading comments around 1:15:00. The masters available for remastering may not have included those extra tracks?
Well, I saw them first during the Altars of Madness tour in fucking 1989 (Willem II/Den Bosch), again in 1991 and 1993, actually the golden era of death metal and the excitement during this era was unreal. In 1989, Pete "the feet" Sandoval did a short extra soundcheck before the gig started to check his kicks. Every time he played his super fast bass drum parts the crowd was screaming as if the band was already playing. I'll never forget the anticipation for this band. Best album imo is Covenant though, Dave Vincent's vocals are much deeper. 🤘
It's very therapeutic and most satisfying, isn't it??
You have to listen to Blessed Are the Sick! Best Morbid Angel ever.
Love your vids your reaction to maze of torment had me like shes feelin it.😂 fkn sick album and a sick reaction.
Hard to believe Morbid Angel practiced in a storage locker, lol!!!!
Chapel of ghouls--- SUPER SOLID!!!!!! 😊
❤ F great album. Cheers from France.
I remember back in the mother land, going to the metal flea market and getting all new stuff in tape Cassettes, not only the new wave of death metal, doom metal, and doom death as well, paradise lost, lost paradise album was a bomb!!!
I remember seeing them play this live @ the Masquerade (the original one) in ATL forever years ago. After the show we got to talk to Trey
All these years of later album still has no weak tracks
I had a feeling she would like the Maze of torment breakdown @ 32:02 ........and I was right!!
One if the best metal albums ever!
Bravo bravo you know what is great music.Death metal is music for the soul especially of te 80-90's😘
Indeed an awesome album but Abominations of desolation was recorded before this one with their original singer Mike Browning
Great taste..🤙
Now check out 'Drink'n with the Devil' It's David Vincent explaining why he is the way he is, he is not just a front man, bass player, master vocalist, he is a man with a message and a purpose.
I'm one of those who was there when this first came out,,,and yes my balls were blown away,, the history of morbid angel goes back much earlier than this first release,,they were really popular in the underground scene,,their demos were cult classics,,so when they finally got the first album out,, it was one of the most anticipated releases ever,,and boy they certainly didn't disappoint,,,
For myself Covenat and Domination are their best, but this album is such a great too!
great reaction !!!
This album is killer
masterpiece! It's a masterpiece.
@Subohmcircus everyone's forgotten about the genious S.O.D and their "tribute" to Celtic Frost. Really fun song I think! Thank you for reminding me! 🙂👍
Blasphemy
the intro was bullets firing. The outro was shell casings hitting the ground.
Visions from the Darkside is my favorite track from MA as it is the best track from the album
Morbid is another local favorite. Again, glad to see ya exploring🙂
You mean "Morbid Angel" or "Morbid" which was a band from Sweden? Great bands both of them :)
Lord Of All Fevers & Plague is available on RUclips. It's one of my favorites, too bad it wasn't there.
In my memories, Chapel of Ghouls sounds different, wasn't there another version at the time ?
Haha I remember naming my first email after two Morbid Angel songs from this album
Mortician is the Heaviest Metal band on the planet
Altars of Madness and Covenant are the best Morbid Angel albums. That being said I would request Sodom "Tapping the Vein" album.
I listen to all kinds of music but even i have heard of the GOAT DM album!
Altars Of Madness is a mega classic and one of most important records of the death metal scene but I prefer Covenant or Domination from MA. Great reaction.
Just a fun fact. All their album are in alphabetical order.
Alters
Blessed
Covenant
And so on.
First time listening to this in 2023
