Those were the days my friend, we thought they'd never end........but they did. I never really knew what we had. I never knew they were the golden years for many of us.
Ha ha. 1984 makes me think Carlton was shit that year and if you were a teenager just getting into Cold Chisel, you missed the boat seeing them as they had already broken up. So all you had was the Twentieth Century album to digest and no albums to hear for the rest of your youth from them. But apart from that ,it brought fun memories of music around in 1984. Jump by Van Halen was big that year. Do not recall a John Lennon song on radio then as thought he died around 1980 but guess it some song released much later. Billy Idol, Dragon, U2, Laura Branigan and Cyndi Lauper. Really did transport back to that time period. Just a school kid then so could not go out on weekends but fun to remember what heard on radio back then.
Was 17 growing up in Traralgon in 84 and the big adventure for us country boys and girls was jump on the Red Rattler train to melb and cause harmless mayhem in the 'big smoke' we had a blessed childhood and didn't know how lucky we were...sure as hell do now 😉 thanks for upload reminded me of better times👍
Mate, every granule of my 51 year old DNA is responding acutely to this footage and the music !!! I never missed an episode of Countdown in 1984. I was in grade 5 growing up near Wattle Park in Burwood before it felt like Shanghai.
Growing up in the western suburbs l remember how great the motorcycle shops were in Elizabeth Street and how great Saturday mornings were in the city. What has happened to the place. Absolutely great soundtrack to great memories.👍
@@steven_scattergood yes ,if you had a british bike you might have gone to Modak for parts ,as I did.You might have met old man Modak, the rudest prick you could ever hope to encounter
Gezza you did Melbourne proud. Just the music alone was spot on. I was 14 years old growing up in Sunshine and you knew Melbourne was special in every way. I cried started my ice hockey playing days in Footscray early Saturday morning & there was a music TV show on Channel 10 early hours of the morning & all these songs would play. Go the Footscray Pirates ICE Hockey Club Cheers Louis Kats 👍
You know from 1984 to now 2024, this really hits from bellow the belt and it hits really now....Time isn't always kind and it doesn't always heal either...
58 baby here , fk did we ever have it easy , honest , it was how things should be , the biggest worry was if yah footy team won , the bloke you punched on with last night is haveing a drink with you the next day like nothing happened, coz thats what it was , nothin , Fast cars , Beautiful Women , Cricket thru summer playing it , people were amiable, chat , but too precious today , it's gone forever , averice tech , Someone knows everything about all of us , and we are ok with it , not all but 99% ok with it , se la viè. Guess . R
Reminds me of Adelaide , Melbourne being a much larger city . Sadly we were tainted by the Family serial killings at that time and right after the Truro murders.
I truly miss it...Melbourne (and Victoria) was a place to be proud of back then.
Now there's all nutters everywhere.
Not anymore

Seems like yesterday, wish we could go back
It would be great if we could go back.
Actually brought me to tears. When Australia was the best country in the world. The best times of my life. Not the same any more 😢
Made my day, but depressed me at the same time

We were blessed to have lived in that era, they were good times.

Great song choices

Got to enjoy now though because tomorrow will be new and today will be missed.
It's wonderful to look back but heartbreaking at the same time.
Better times. People could display the Australian flag without fear of upsetting anyone.
Better music and a better way of life style back in the eights!!! Bring it back please!!!!
All memories. Wish I was young again and not living in this modern hell hole.
Thank you Gezza.
Fantastic video Gezza. And fantastic music 🎶
1984 the best year of the 80's ❤ from tv shows, movies and music it was a great year to be 14 years old.

Awesome 80s no decade will never come close
Good videos, I wonder what it will look like in another 20 or so
Thanks for great entertainment as usual !!!
Nostalgic.
Gr8 thanks 🍻
Those were the days you loved to be Australian and were proud of Australia. Today it has degenerated to “spot the Aussie”.
Before the Kalergi plan was enforced
spot on
Formerly known as The Protocols of Z..n . It seems to be going to plan unfortunately.
I was in visiting Melbourne November 1984, I remember Madonna "Like a Virgin" was a huge hit and all the adult book stores in the city
No one with their heads buried in their phones and tattoos everywhere.
I was two years old living in Ferntree Gully.
A very charming look at Melbourne before it transformed into the Ugly City, s CBD that it is now. Recent trip to Adeliade reminded me of that era.
Magic city.
Amazing how the demographic has changed…
Yeah, and who asked for it to be changed?
….and certainly not for the better. Tragic!
The Melbourne 80s golden era, now completely destroyed
It was so much better back then, that's when australia was australia.
Great!!
Before "diversity"
now airport departure lounge from hell.....
i guess being so boring wasn't so bad
What ever happen to kids in the kitchen? Lol
Scott Carne still does live shows from time to time, and joins a few of those 80s all-star concerts with other great acts from that era.
Reminds me of Adelaide , Melbourne being a much larger city . Sadly we were tainted by the Family serial killings at that time and right after the Truro murders.
Is that the old Carlton Movie House in the background at 7:39?
Ges
No longer the great city it was in this footage, Now an over crowded, crime riddled, graffiti covered, horrible place!
Very True
Melbourne is such a better city now.
Lol 🤣🤣🤣
You've got no idea what you're talking about .Melbourne has deteriorated and is a horrid place now .
@insight11111 Melbourne is a shithole now, I'm glad I left it.
Bogan central.🤮
