If you want a historic context for the song its the War of the Roses and how a power struggle between two families escilated into a full scale civil war that tore England apart that only ended when Henry of Lancaster married Elizabeth of York and defeated the Yorkist Army at Bosworth Field creating the Tudor Dynasty
Happy to hear that!! :D At least do you have a good time in your magical world? I really do, and there are so few people who can actually understand it!!
I'm proud I figured out this was Romeo and Juliet even before she said it. Cursed names? Two families hating each other? Meeting at a dance? Meeting at night and staying together till dawn? Knight sings it so well, so lyrical, that it almost sounds like a whole new story.
@@sadlobster1 "magical world" refers to the belief in a "happily ever after" or that somehow "love conquers all" attitude. Magical in that somehow just being in love is enough to make everything ok. Typical of "teenyboppers" like Romeo and Juliet, who were, I believe, about thirteen and fourteen respectively. Likewise typical of those who have never suffered hardship of reality. Try to feed your kid on just love. See how far that gets you. Then you'll understand "magical world". Love might fuel your sacrifices, but just staring lovingly into its hungry eyes does nothing.
@@kennethteitelbaum6998 Believe me, as much as I love Romeo & Juliet; I wouldn't call it Shakespeare's greatest love story. For me, that title goes to A Midsummer Night's Dream
You're right, I noticed a lot of subtle mentions of them. It's just never really came to me. When you hear the title, Magical World, Shakespeare characters don't really come to mind
The heart of the tale of Romeo and Juliet is that they dared to fall in love, while their families cared only about fighting a poinless blood fued that no one remembered how it had begun and the town wanted the fighting to stop. The tragedy is that the Capulats and Montegues hated each other so much it took the deaths of that which mattered to them the most, their children to finally make them see just how foolish they'd been
And the true tragedy is that for the real families that inspired Romeo & Juliet, losing their children like this DIDN'T stop the feud. They're still feuding to this day.
I LOVE that play, it was the first thing of Shakespeare's I've ever read. Would you believe me, if I told you I first read it at 10 and it wasn't even an abridged version. It was a book of the play's original text
in the terms of the play Magical World is the dream of a long and happy marrage Romeo and Juliet wished for but their parents refusal to end their fued destroyed, in reality it's the dream that someone you've always considered an enemy you can one day call a friend
It's one of those plays that sticks with you, in the end you pitty both Romeo and Juliet who loved each other more then anything else in the world and the Montegues and Capulates who paid the ulitimate price for their foolishness
I went through the comments and saw that the last comment was a year ago and the last reply was 9 months ago, so I figured I’d comment that the song is still good in 2020
This song brings to life the beauty and mystery of magic, in my mind. A great pity how in this day and age, people have deemed magic of ALL kinds to be evil. One cannot even purchase a Harry Potter book without being hounded by religious groups
The song is baised on Romeo and Juliet, and how their families blood fued prevented them from being together, even though no one remembered why the fued had begun or what they were fighting about. In the end the it was only when the Capulates and Montegues lost that which mattered the most, their children, did they finally see how foolish they'd been
This is a beautiful song, but I can't help but feel that her voice is very...flat and uncaring here. I dunno. It just doesn't have the PASSION of some of their other songs. Still gorgeous though!
Blackmore's songs really inspire me 💙😄
Agreed
I love how here songs always tell a story!

This song is so enchanting. 😌
I love living in my own magical world!!!
To me, her voice still sounds as enchanting as before. This is one of the many BN songs that always help put me at ease
It's very interesting how we can listen to the same song and yet hear it differently. :)

I'm guessing the "magical world" it refers to is heaven?

Let's face it...love always wins!
I feel the same.
Except for the dark powers. Like Necromancy for instance.
But most of it involves healing, bringing life to crops, telepathy and other aspects
Good

Some how this song speaks to me more than the Romeo and Juliet itself.
