    I'm surprised there's this many of these things still alive but somewhat embarrassed that I still know the difference between an A30 & an A35 having not even seen one in at least 40yrs.

      Yep, & still racing as hard as I did when I raced against those little bugger's way back then. Old is a hole people fall into, I refuse. My latest endeavor is the 500mph wheel driven barrier.

      Racing these A30's/A35's probably feels like 500 mph! On the flip-side I went on the Thrust SSC simulator at Coventry Motor Museum and it felt as if I was in an ordinary road going Austin A30/A35! It felt absolutely nothing like Land Record Breaking 760 mph speed to me!

      A good speed run will feel smooth & eventless, if not, you probably crashed.

    What a great race the little austins get along and how safe are they just a roll bar and you can roll about six times land on your wheels get out and walk around were these old cars that unsafe they were solid maybe cars built today could learn from the cars today l would much rather roll an A30 than a modern car a solid car with all these air bags when a racing harness and a roll cage is all you need in solid car

    I notice there are a number of A30s here. I don't know if they improved the brakes and steering for the A35 but both of these would have made racing "challenging". As would the relatively poor rear shock absorber performance. I enjoyed my A30 greatly and it was a surprisingly efficient body design for usable space or for working on the engine bay. However even despite the low power output racing would have been quite scary.

    Sad to see 1 car roll...but l feel that with the care given to these cars, that it will be rebuilt...
    Why not...
    They are so cute great shape...and like the mini's, so entertaining.
    Pity that people don't make a kit car...so that some of us, again could see some on the roads...and tracks .
    However, the EU .. will waggle there fingers....no...no ..no.. contamination...🤨 Dip sticks

    My dad had an A35 company car,he used to terrify me the speed he took corners,they were known for instability problems but it didn’t bother him he was nuts,my first car was the MK1 Austin A40 Farina which was pretty similar in mechanicals to the A35s but it never went like these do,I always had the idea of putting the MG1100 engine in it but never got round to it and bought a Series 6 Morris Oxford with the 1622cc engine,another Dozey lump but very reliable.

      I agree, that new cars are pretty souless affairs. But you have to take in technology and safety of the vehicle. I am surprised and disappointed they didn't do a modern take on the A30,/35, people would lap them up..

    • @robertp.wainman4094
      @robertp.wainman4094 3 года назад +1

      I totally agree with you. Modern car design is so uninteresting. Meaningless 'swoops' and indentations in the panels - terrible vision thanks to the 'swept up' rear quarters, claustrophobic, tacky interiors, full of bling. Silly designs for the lights. We were offered a Merc A180 rental car - really yuk. As for safety - well at least the driver had a great view out in an A35 and it's contemporaries.

    How is it that some of these A35s could land in the top 10 of a ‘60s Group 7 race?
    In English speak, shouldn’t the leader be identified as One & 20?
