I had problems with my eyes crossing when my hand would get close to my face and what helped my was to close my other eye for some reason that stopped my eyes from crossing
All this time I was using regular saline like biotru and others. My eye dr didn't mention to me that I should use a non preservative saline. It's no wonder they were uncomfortable. Thanks for this.
Hi Steve: I watched your other video about removal without tools. In that one, you quickly inserted the lens twice, using the index & middle fingers to hold the lens while the ring finger holds the bottom lid open (same hand as eye). Opposite hand hold top lid open. Did I get that right? I haven't tried your method yet. Ultimately I want to insert & remove the Scleral lens without the need for tools. Removal (no tools) works well for me. Insertion still a work in progress using "tripod" fingers.
It gets easier with practice. Try over reacting by opening your eye as wide as possible (still holding your upper and lower lids with your thumb and forefinger) and don’t relax (let go) until you feel pressure against your cornea and the fluid has spilled and then you blink to clear the excess fluid. I promise it will get easier with practice.
cut the end of the plunger off and stare down into the hole of the plunger through the lens. you will feel the water first but have to keep going until the lens is all the way on
Is scleral lens will provide full vision in both eye? I'm not getting full vision in left side. I got same lens size like BC-7.20, LZ-L7.SAG-4.37,BVP-4.50, dia-14.50. Is possible to get full vision on both eye.?
When i take my scrlalenzen out it hurt my eye .is this nomal? Just starting with this lenzen only got them a week now but evertime i take it out it hurt ..
I’m curious how many hours you are wearing the lenses? And are you rinsing them with saline and filling them with saline before inserting? If you use storage solution or cleansing solution you will get eye irritation.
His eyes were numbed, so it appears much easier than it really is.. Your eyelids will flinch when the solution hits your eye which is why scelaral lens is so diffuclt.
Excellent video and instruction. Great tips too! Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Steve, excellent presentation. I am going to recommend it to my patients. -Dr. Gromacki

How to stop your eyelids from automatically flinching/blinking?

Focus on a simple point with the other eye to allow the eye to relax that the lens is going on. Gaze down into the center of the plunger.
My eye rolls back when anything touches the cornea. I cant keep looking at the lense. Ugh

Can I use boston simplus multipurpose solution for filling the sclarels before inserting in the eyes or it is dangerous to do so??
No. Not safe. Please insert the lens with a non preserved saline only.
No please do not. The lenses should only be inserted with non-preserved saline. Any other solution can irritate or be harmful to your eyes.
No, non preserved saline only.

Don’t talk crap, once you’re used to inserting them your eyelids do not flinch and scleral lens are the most comfortable once you are used to them.
