  • Chuck Bartowski burned Sarah Walker a number of times on the rocky road to a real relationship. Here is a collection, to go along with my other video of "Sarah Burns Chuck", of all the times Chuck burned Sarah. Often he had no idea he was hurting her. It was a rollercoaster.

None of these were really burns, per se. Chuck was just so oblivious, and Sarah wasn't helping by continually denying her feelings.

I'm with you for the choices you've made but I think you've missed one important burn, at Ellie's wedding when Sarah tells Chuck she leaves to be part of the new intersect program with Bryce and he thanks her for going to the wedding and cause it's good for the cover.

I suppose you could call that a burn, but I put that scene in the "Sarah burns Chuck video". She could have softened the blow by just saying she was going to DC to work on the intersect. When she adds "I'm going with Bryce" that had to hurt. Chuck would have had a Deja Vu moment, losing his girl to Bryce ...again...
But yeah, he definitely gets in a dig right there, and you can see it in her expression. She knows it hurt him, and she feels that hurt.

The big burn was his biggest mistake

I wonder very much about Prague. To paraphrase what Castle tells Beckett on their show, 'What man has ever turned you away?' I would bet that, like Carina, Sarah has never heard the word, 'no,' in that context. That hurt her so deeply, it took basically the entire season for her to get over it. Despite watching the video that Carina gave to Sarah.

A good collection. I had come up with 3 biggies. I had not made the same connections that you have. Number 16 has to be shared burn. She could have spoken up to tell him what was on the line. 17 may have been the most hurt Sarah was in her life.

Agree. 16 - if he had taken the job there was a chance they could have been together. Sarah's expression shows that she felt he just threw that opportunity away. He hurt her and he had no idea of that. 17 - Yeah, that is a big burn. But it was also (unintentionally) short sighted of Sarah. She was asking Chuck to forever give up the most important things in his life, friends and family. He was never going to see Ellie again. I don't think Sarah realized what she was asking Chuck to give up. But this was never brought out in the series. He was instead seen as choosing duty over love. "With great power comes great responsibility" If you watch the other video "Sarah Burns Chuck" you can see the differences in what drives them.

Is the 'salmon' comment an instance to the recurring fish imagery?

I am sure 99.9% of girls do not come around after that big burn he did to her. He does not deserve Sarah.

It would be difficult to turn that around. Kinda like infidelity. Tough to recover from. The writers did a good job of making sure the "outside" relationships they both had, were done so after a "breakup". But don't forget that Sarah burned the heck out of Chuck as well. I'm surprised he hung in there.

I just check your edit of Sarah burns Chuck. His big burn is still not comparable with anything Sarah did in terms of impact hes made and the risk and effort that she has taken to be together with him.@@SteveFresca-qk1vd

He chose duty over love. Ask any guy who has honorably served in the military about that. In many ways Sarah did not deserve Chuck. All through the first half of season 3 she displays very little feelings for Chuck. Then all of a sudden she says "yes". She can't even say I love you. And this only after he asks her if she loves him. He should not have to ask. She should show it. Chuck has told her how he feels on multiple occasions. She burns the heck out of him, and then a coy look is supposed to make him believe she is in love? @@soniaw5771

Except that's why Sarah loves Chuck in the first place. He's willing to put other people ahead of his own desires, even to the point of risking losing her to do so. It's why he risks his life to save Shaw, for her.

@@SteveFresca-qk1vd I have to disagree. It's completely understandable on Sarah's part. She offered to give up the only life she's ever known, for him. And although it wasn't actually the first time she was heartbroken over Chuck, it's definitely the worst. It was the first time she ever felt love for and from another person, so of course it would take her a long time to try to get past it. And then with Chuck dating Hannah, she shows pretty obvious jealousy about it. That's really the only reason for the whole thing between her and Shaw. It was a rather poor attempt to hide her jealousy and to act like she had moved on (unless you want to count the two deleted scenes where she tells Casey she doesn't trust Shaw and is going to find out what he's up to). And she was going to kiss Chuck, during the stakeout, after he told her he wished he had made a different decision in Prague, but Shaw interrupted them.

3:50 neither do I, how was that a burn on Sarah? If he had said he was done with working with the government/going on missions etc then I'd understand (he wouldn't really say that cuz he's too polite) but Chuck here doesn't believe he's a hero and Sarah is disappointed that he doesn't believe in himself.

I think Sarah thought if he had taken an analyst job they could find a way to be together. But when Chuck turned that down Sarah saw it as Chuck indirectly saying he did not want to be with her. I don't think Chuck did it intentionally, he did not realize that by taking the analyst position he might be able to be with Sarah. You can see Sarah's reaction when he says no. It is disappointment. He burned her but did not realize what he did.

@@SteveFresca-qk1vd Thanks your explanation makes more sense👍- the only issue of Chuck becoming an analyst at this point would be the awkwardness of Sarah working with Bryce (her ex if she chose Chuck over him) on missions while Chuck would be at a computer missing out on the action

@@maryamfazil86 Yes, it was a less than perfect solution. But neither thought they could be a spy and also be together. It was duty over love. One or the other. Thus we had to go through season 3A, for Chuck to become a spy, then for them both to decide/discover that they could have it all. Be both a spy and be in love.

Nobody made an attempt to explain to Chuck the implications of his decision. Someone (I'm looking at you, Sarah) should have spoken up.

why didnt he deserve her? hes a decent guy and just because shes obviously hot doesnt mean she is out of his league.
they saved each other: sarah gave him confidence and chuck awakened her human side which she lost along the way
