When I first saw someone kitefoiling my reaction was "bs.. why would anyone want to ride such a thing?" ..two years later, I possesed a whole family of different foils and my twintip bareley saw water again. When I first saw someone foiling with a wing my reaction was "bs..that wing pumping looks silly and inefficient.. and why foiling with such a thing if you can have kite?" ..well, I still do prefer kitefoiling but got into wingfoiling nevertheless. When I first saw someone pumpfoiling I thought "bs.. this looks ridiculous.. why would anyone want to do that?".. again, just hit the one minute mark pumpfoiling recently. I'm trying not to be judgemental this time. Probably going to own one and love on or two of these in the not so far future :) Great footage and filming by the way!
in windy condition I think with this no pumping anymore, I skydive and it seems like a similar canopy (maybe speedflying profile or paragliding) but easy to deplo and super light

Imagine putting some longer lines on that thing so you could really get it flying fast and thus generating even more power up higher where the air currents are cleaner. I bet that could even become an Olympic sport someday.
Looks brilliant. Don’t need to cling to an inflated pool toy or be bent in half by a powerful kite hundreds of feet in the air. More development will occur, and that’s a wonderful thing!

I used to be a paragliding pilot, for those concerned about tangles, honestly it’s no issue with short cascades, most often it will sort itself out when the kite inflates. In time less lines will be the norm imo, less drag etc..
I am also working on "4-lines only" Kite at the moment. It flies OK, You can feel the traction of a 2.5 m2 kite in a good wind. But not tested on water, yet.

And come to think of it, Steffen from Born kites already invented this, it's called the Street Star. 1 handed control, single surface kites. As the name suggests, used with land board or skate board, but no reason it wouldn't work like the brm.
@@collider4378F Arc is a twin skin. Would be very difficult to relaunch or even recover in water. It will sink in swallowing enourmus amount of water. I am working on single skin, stillno bridles, but using a few battens.

Game-changer for tricky spots. I launched ar the spot I prone foil and I destroyed my board and wing. Shredded it to pieces and popped both bladders. Also seems great to travel with. I could probably get away with smaller 4'10" 60L wing board and a 5M+ parawing. It would fit in my "golf bag" and be lighter. Awesome videos as always! I just wonder if BRM will have demos for a beginner like myself to see what it's all about and be swayed to purchase.
2:45 I like the way he got rid of all the power just by folding the kite under his arm. I'm also guessing that a big drawn to this approach is the weight of carrying this kite vs wing+pump
I'm interested for sure. I spent a solid chunk of cash on inflatable wings and I don't like them because they're so annoying to inflate and deflate and pack. And then once you surf/dw, you're just dragging it around behind you.
Its really good in that the kite is small and easy to transport and store and keep clean and dry. Would love to try all those type of sports one day but in the past owning and maintaining all the kit has been a bit of a turn off, being that I live a long way from the coast so wouldnt get used so regularly.

Wait until Ozone get a fix on this, their experience in kites and ram air paragliders will change the face of this sport. This is no fad, it’s a game changer that will develop very quickly.
@@brynmrsh they perfected the single surface paraglider 12 years ago. The current model is the XXLite 2. The problem is high line consumption with single surface designs. Double surface ram air designs can be made with far fewer lines because of the internal pressure and supporting ribs.
By no means am I skilled rider. But this is quite the revolutionary change to wind sports and foiling. I don't like kites because the complexity and always being powered up. I also met a lady that lost her finger kiting. I've heard you need lessons. I don't like winging because they are bulky and annoying to setup. You gotta always hang onto it and guide it around. But it's very easy to learn. (I got going 1st session). I don't like SUP downwind because the logistics and the insane dedication it takes to master. I like the idea of hand paddles but you need some massive bumps to get going. I much prefer prone foil surf/dw as it's very simple and easy. Jump in the water and just go. BUT THIS. You can now use a smaller board, jump in at a spot you typically would prone. Unstuff your wing from the bag. Sheet in, get on foil, send it DW and pack it away. Unpack again if you gotta get back up. I can imagine the upwind ability is good enough. No more logistical issues you see with SUP DW.

Yes, I was sitting in my car watching a a bunch of people doing the pump thing as it wasn't particularly windy enough, and I was absolutely laughing my ass off at what a bunch of goofballs they looked like. Of course, that was me sitting in my car, while they were out there! 😂
It’s pretty similar from my perspective and it seems dependent on how much power you got. It might take a little longer going upwind but the reward of hands free downwind foiling is probably worth it 🤙🏼
It makes tonnes of sense to get the boards with feet sleeves, they provide better footing and control of the boards in the water. Why struggle ? Cheers.

That’s how the parawing began and we have a couple guys trying it right now with some success. The question is not so much if other cheaper kites could work with some modifications but really how much better a Parawing works 🤔🤙🏼
Looks very fun until lines tangle. And there are a lot of lines to tangle. My small training kite with far fewer lines can be pain to untangle even over land.
Maybe the lines could be a bit longer so the kite is flying higher and catches more wind? Also maybe than a sort of rig on your body to hook it up so your arms don't get tired fast?
I think it's so new that there's some learning curves. It seems the leading edge needs to face the wind. I would think an upwind tack may be possible but very difficult. And a downwind tack would work but seems like you gotta fold it up and re-inflate. Give it some time and a v2 may solve these issues?

@@brutally_honest yes they're the same cost. But an inflatable wing comes with a lot of material, windows, handles, valves, bladders, zippers, leashes, etc. Inflatable wings are far more complex. I just figured since these are much simpler they'd be cheaper. But I get it, it's new. Nobody else offers it. It took tons of time and research to develop.
I'm no expert, but this seems like it would pretty damn difficult in light wind simply because you need to get it high up in the wind along. I n lighter wind, this may want to droop and stay wet and need a solid gust to inflate and stay inflated. But once it's in the air, I'd imagine could be as good as a traditional wing.
Foiling looks great and I’m sure it’s very fun but it’s a fad and will fade away. Standard fin windsurfing is a feeling like no other and will be around forever
If you think it's very fun why would you say it's just a fad. Just an observation of being around foilers and windsurfers every day out in the water I can tell you most foilers look way happier 😁 then most windsurfers 😞
So what about using a NASA wing? It has loads of pull in a compact package. I am guessing the shape of a nasa wing would also make it more stable than these.

That's how felt about foiling until I bought my first foil in 2013 and I haven't ridden anything without a foil since 🤙🏼

This is more for downwinding, requires lots of wind and skills to use so I wouldn't bother just go winging and enjoy this fantastic sport

Nice one WOW - looks simple and effective. Forget the paddle for down winder just switch for parawing and use it as needed.
Or you can parawing upwind and then do a down winder back where you started 🤙🏼

Bloke at my local has been using Radio Control Paraglider Parafoils for the last 5 years.
I got a crazy idea: what if you invent a kite with a tube and put 20 meter lines on it ... imagine how cool that would be ...
