For some reason I developed this head canon that Sulik Vik and Cassidy rode in the car, Skynet strapped to the back, and Marcus found himself a motorcycle and rode with us.
After how slow the fucking walking speed was, finally getting the car repaired and watching that little red dot shoot across that low resolution ass jpeg is the most exhilarating feeling known to man. I could feel the wind rushing through my hair, I had to cling to my chair to prevent being blown right away.

I have the frontier mod for new Vegas and I have a proper drivable highwayman. it really flys on straight roads. Screw fast travel or walking because nothing stops a highwayman.
Man, I loved getting the car. I fucking hated travelling on the world map in Fallout 2 because of the constant fear of the next encounter killing you and just how hostile the world was. But then you go through all of the work to get this car running and then you travel the world map at the speed of light and if that's not enough for you, you get this bad ass theme too. Fallout 2 is aight.

Early game you too weak, while late game enemies are too strong. Mid game has a balance where neither you nor enemies are too strong or weak. The only mid game issues you can have is fighting those mob bosses and their random encounter thugs.

Back in the day, I mean, in the 1999-2000 when I played FO2, I would just go on the world map in the car, turn up the speakers, and let the music play while I did my homework. Twenty years later and I still play FO2, and the new ones as well. So glad the franchise didn't die after Interplay went overboard.

Especially considering the Fallout 4 Brotherhood is the most lore correct thing bethesda has done thus far. Maybe with Obsidian and Bethesda now being owned by Microsoft we can see Josh Sawyer and other Important New Vegas leads working with Bethesda to really get the lore right this time. We can only hope though at this point im grasping at straws lol...

funny story about this song. so a few years ago me and my buddies hopped on our motorcycles and rode from Detroit Michigan to Sturgis South Dakota for the motorcycle rally. just about the time i noticed the scenery switched from semi scraggly farm land to legitimately desert this song popped up on my playlist. i think that might have been the only time i felt like a true Chad.

The Fallout 2 wasteland is the wildest wasteland of the franchice, the highwayman is in the same level with the interceptor for the title of best postapocalyptic car and the Chosen One's legend and exploits will live on in this song and the car. And any mod the community keep makeing.
I think that's why they even bothered to include the blower upgrade. A blower makes sense if something is fossil-fuel powered and still needs air to burn said fuel, but considering you use Fusion Cells to power the car (implying it's electric), it's completely pointless other than the sake of coolness. And ain't nothin' wrong with coolness :|

If you want bonus points there is a bit of fridge logic out there that claims Myron didn't actually create jet, but instead just created a cheaper way of manufacturing it. The logic goes as that Myron is such a hate sink that it makes sense that his "invention" isn't really his at all.
We had two bags of Mentats, seventy-five pellets of Buffout, five cans of high-powered Turbo, a saltshaker half-full of Hydra, and a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers... Also, a quart of Radaway, a quart of Rebound, a case of beer, a pint of raw Turbo, and two dozen Psychos. Not that we needed all that for the trip, but once you get locked into a serious chem collection, the tendency is to push it as far as you can. The only thing that really worried me was the Jet. There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a wastelander in the depths of an Jet binge, and I knew we'd get into that rotten stuff pretty soon.

Yes, but you won't have to ride for long, because you will need to find more batteries for the car. It will be even better if you pump the car for less energy consumption. In short, driving a car in FO2 is like keeping your own car in real life, provided that you are either a poor guy or a part-time teenager.

Just bought a 57 Plymouth fury that I'm gonna try to make look like the highwayman. I'd like to try an make the thing play this song whenever I have the doors open. Also it's a '57 Plymouth Belvedere 4 door sedan. I'm a lot more familiar with this car now then I was 2 years ago.
Its gonna take a long time but maybe ill upload videos with updates. Needs parts that are no longer made and finding them when I have the money is gonna be a challenge. Also since technology has not advanced to the point where an electric engine that makes 800+ horsepower is an affordable option its probably just gonna get a 350 Chevrolet V8 with a 6-71 supercharger on it but that's gonna be years from now.
I've also been working with a company to produce custom badges for the highwayman changing the lettering from "Plymouth" to "Chryslus" and working on finding a font I like for the "highwayman" badge.
Honestly I would rather have 3D Fallouts with no open world, just extremely polished levels for cities and ruins and have the character walk across the map just like in old Fallouts.

I played both of the original Fallouts over Christmas break, 2020. Getting that car running and hearing this awesome music for the first time was one of my favorite moments in these games.

Never played Fallout 2, but I can feel the world becomes yours once you get a car in a slooooow game like that.
Yes, but you won't have to ride for long, because you will need to find more batteries for the car. It will be even better if you pump the car for less energy consumption. In short, driving a car in FO2 is like keeping your own car in real life, provided that you are either a poor guy or a part-time teenager.

One thing I think is exceptionally cool is the Tale of Two Wastelands mod that combines 3 and New Vegas uses this theme the first time you activate the train to go to New Vegas.
I like to imagine that there's a holotape player in the car's interior and it contains this track which plays after the car is powered on for the first time in over a century
Just bought a 57 Plymouth fury that I'm gonna try to make look like the highwayman. I'd like to try an make the thing play this song whenever I have the doors open.
Also it's a '57 Plymouth Belvedere 4 door sedan. I'm a lot more familiar with this car now then I was 2 years ago.

Its gonna take a long time but maybe ill upload videos with updates. Needs parts that are no longer made and finding them when I have the money is gonna be a challenge. Also since technology has not advanced to the point where an electric engine that makes 800+ horsepower is an affordable option its probably just gonna get a 350 Chevrolet V8 with a 6-71 supercharger on it but that's gonna be years from now.
I've also been working with a company to produce custom badges for the highwayman changing the lettering from "Plymouth" to "Chryslus" and working on finding a font I like for the "highwayman" badge.

Honestly I would rather have 3D Fallouts with no open world, just extremely polished levels for cities and ruins and have the character walk across the map just like in old Fallouts.
The original Fallout can be described as an open world game, it's just that that open world is not entirely contiguous.

I played both of the original Fallouts over Christmas break, 2020. Getting that car running and hearing this awesome music for the first time was one of my favorite moments in these games.
