Whoever says they are numerous other options out there is ignorant. Not everyone lives in USA to have access to the old DRZs, in Europe we have nothing in this CC range. Also not everyone wants to go through the trouble of converting a dirt bike to SM. It's for me, not for you, thanks.
The guy is missing the point. Ive had my drz for 20 years. The head has never been of in 50,000 miles. The reliability and ease of use is legendary. Plus in my opinion its a great looking bike.
Reliability doesn't sell motorcycles. Excitement does. The average motorcycle owner will never even put 10k miles on their bike before they sell it or trade it for something new. Suzuki's job was to retain the reliability from their 25 year old dinosaur and IMPROVE performance. They failed at the most important half of that equation.
Ive got a 2010 drz,sm, love the look love the bike! This guy misses the point on a lot of stuff. He looks at the spec sheet and comments on that. Hes never ridden a drz and he cant ride for sheet. I love how every youtuber is already hating on the new and the old.
It's how power delivered is what matters. Also gearing, tire size, weight. Location of weight. Suspension, brakes. A motorcycle is a sum of their parts. Specs are for hype. I could say specs are meaningless? But. I won't. Ya'll drink the Horsepower coolaid😮
The old DRZ was underpowered, and there was nothing in the way it was delivered to compensate for it. Unless they have done something very different with this engine, it sounds like more of the same. It really needs 45 hp and a 6 speed to get the juices flowing.
Suzuki finally getting their act together after releasing the 8R. Still we can look forward to the new look of the DR-Z being around for the next 20+ years.
The worst part is the new bikes are heavier! (+19 lbs for the supermoto and +16 lbs heavier for the dual sport). And the new bikes have a smaller fuel tank to boot! (From 2.6 gal down to 2.3 gals!!)
@@CycleCruza i think the exhaust accounts for a lot of that. new euro 5+ emissions are the reason these bikes died globally a while ago. we have been fortunate here in the states
@@CycleCruza Ugh thats dog shit. I had a 2015 DRZ400sm. They probably reduced the fuel tank capacity to make the weight less painful to swallow. Was hoping for a 6 speed too. We'll see if its the same gear ratios.
Even if ecu is locked you can get a piggyback fueler like an ejk. Exhaust is more interesting, i think they said it has split cats, one in the header one in front of the muffler, so full exhaust may be necessary for 'big' power. It being very similar geo, the aftermarket might be ahead of the bike by twenty years 😅
I'm just amazed at how ignorant people are about horsepower numbers. The current production drz400s is rated at 39 horsepower at the crank. And this is by Suzuki. Dirt Rider magazine has put several drzs on the dyno and they always come in around 31-32 rear wheel horsepower. This new bike is rated at 38 horsepower at the crank so it's actually slightly less than the outgoing model. It's also slightly lower in compression.
Yes, dual sports and supermotos are great staring bikes and they can take a beating so less worries if you drop it nad also much cheaper to replace any plastics.
Just picked up a used DRz SM and will be building it out as a light ADV and a commuter bike. My big interest in the used one is the carb, lack of electronics, and the ability to use lower grade fuel. I am use to working on carbs and the DRz is well documented when it comes to jetting and tuning. I may opt for putting in a Smart Carb once I get the suspension set up. I know many complain about the 5 speed transmission and carb but for the riding I do the 5 speed trans works great (borrowed a DRz for a couple of weeks to get a feel of the bike). Carb versus FI is a big debate. FI definitely can provide better mixture control which is why it is used to meet Emission regs. But when FI fails, or a component of FI fails (such as that little hidden fuel filter on the KTM’s that most don’t know about) it generally will strand your ass. A carb does require more service (mainly don’t leave fuel in it for a long period of time) but seldom will fail in a manner that will strand you.
First off, for those crying about the weight gain, do we know if that is accurate? Because in the past they were always very optimistic about how light their bikes were, and the trend seems to be to publish much more accurate ready to ride weights. For years everyone said the DR650 was 325 pounds, and now they say 366. I really don't se how 3 gallons of gas adds 41 pounds if the old weight was "dry weight", so really we need to see how they really turn out next to an old model on a scale. As for the 6 speed, to do that would have required an entirely new engine and gearbox. We don't know if they changed the gear ratios and raised 4th and 5th, but being that they did substantial clutch upgrades and had to know about the complaints, I bet they did. The DR650 has a 5 speed and cruised 75-80 easily and hits 100mph. The 400 has about the same horsepower and could easily pull a tall 5th gear. Being that the old engine was very reliable and had low maintenance intervals I am fine with the upgrades of EFI and 2 spark plugs which I suspect is going to increase MPG substantially. It seems to me that they kept a lot of the good of the DRZZ400 and added a lot of nice refinements with the EFI, more mpg, better starting, better display, fuel gage, LED lights and turn signals, Kayaba suspension, new frame, upgraded clutch and hopefully gear ratios. I wouldn't freak out until we see the sum of the whole. Personally I don't want a 450 with huge power and high maintenance. 40ish horsepower and reliable is a sweet spot IMO.
I can already tell you these bikes are a disappointment. The +19 lbs for the supermoto and +16 lbs for the dual sport makes these bikes tanks no matter how you look at it. Weight is everything for a dual sport, especially if you ever go off-road. My 24' KTM 690 SMC R is only 10 lbs heavier than the new DR-Z4SM but has double the hp and torque!
@@CycleCruza Do we really know if they got heavier? Because I have seen that in the past they often advertised the weights as being lower than they actually are, and are now seeming to be more honest about the actual ready to ride weights. I'm sure they gained a few pounds, but until we can actually weight an old and new bike side by side, we really don't know.
I have hundredss of hours of seat time on the old DRZ. And my conclusion is that it was the most reliable and boring bike I ever owned. The engine had zero character. It was like driving an agricultural implement. My WR250R somehow managed to feel more exciting, even with less horsepower. Unfortunately, this new DRZ looks like more of the same.
@@jakeviolet2195 Funny I hear this all the time but I had the complete opposite opinion. The 250's are way too slow feeling and lacking torque. The 400 motor was worth living with the older tech
I'm seeing a lot of negative crap from people saying it isn't better because it's not lighter and more powerful. Well if they put a fire breathing 450 motor in, those same people would be whining about 600 mile oil changes and 1500 mile valve adjustments. it has a LOT of changes! I think the frame and suspension changes might be a lot bigger than people realize. Kayaba makes good suspension and the ergos look a lot better, so I'm interested to see how it handles now. The engine might not be more powerful, but it should start easily, run at any altitude, and get better fuel mileage helping extend range. The clutch design sounds nice, and I'm betting that they did update the gear ratios. Not a 6 speed, but I bet it is improved a bit. It has LED lighting and turn signals. A better display with fuel gage. Ok, maybe we don't need ABS, but that allows it to be sold in more markets, which might help keep the cost down. And it's not a bad thing to have on wet roads on a bike that will get used to commute on a lot. And they made it easy to turn off. It's not meant to be a KTM350 killer. We have plenty of high maintenance barely legal dual sports from Beta and KTM as well as Honda's 450L. That wasn't what they aimed for. They went for the rider that wants to jump on day after day after day, ride to work, explore dirt roads on the way home, and take off on long exploratory adventures. I'm personally excited to see how it rides and handles now, and think it could hit a sweet spot of power, handling and reliability for a lot of riders.
you dont need a fire breathing motor but 38hp and not on wheel its a joke they can make 450-550cc engine with 45-50hp easy and be reliable. If you cant get power without not passing regulations and affect reliability you just increase the engine size to get more power and torque. Also about suspension at least the sm model should not be soft like butter like it used to be my scooter got stiffer suspension than the old sm
@@tougeattack123 Well if you look at actual dyno numbers even the old DRZ400 only came out at 31.8 at the rear wheel. And the DRZ isn't a 450-550, it's a 400. A new pipe and ECU tune should bring it up into the 40's pretty easily. For a large portion of riders, a 400 around 40hp is a pretty good sweet spot, and can always be hopped up. I'm sure the aftermarket response is going to be massive. The change to KYB suspension should be a good change, as they should be highly adjustable, and suspension tuners are very familiar with how to tune them. So tell me where are all these reliable 450-550 engines out there that have 3,000 mile oil changes and 15,000 mile valve adjustments?
@twowheelsdown2002 dude my scooter brings 38hp at 400cc and its pretty reliable so if Piaggio can do it Suzuki can do it better and it doesn't matter drz was 400cc in the past wr and yz was 400cc in the past also and went to 450 drz can do it to
@twowheelsdown2002 so they cheap out on the real issues and added stupid electronics and ride by wire throttle and traction for 38hp bike.i bet this is going to cost 8-9k euro and no one will buy it ktm 390 also is another option for people that want to stay at 400cc faster and lighter
Suzuki electronics are very intuitive to use If it's like the new gsx8. 5hp is a big gain out of 400cc. U spent big money on your wr250 cc to get less than that if I remember right
Im in the uk,my drz400sm is a 2006 and i cant fault it.gets me to work, does over 80mph and its great on fuel, cgeap to insure and tax.what more could you want?
I'm happy with what Suzuki has done here. Finally getting fuel injection and several other upgrades. The market is tough on motorcycle manufacturers with the world economy being what it is. Once the aftermarket add ons are installed, programer, exhaust and maybe open airbox mods. I bet the engine will wake up. I had and 07 and loved everything except the seat height, I'm 5'6". Look forward to riding the new iteration of DRZ's.
If DR-Z4S was available when I was looking for a motorcycle back in June 2023, I would have taken the DRZ more seriously. It was disqualified mainly because of the carb, but also the lack of the 6th gear. I like the dual sparkplug setup, which should make sparkplug access much easier; handy if there's potential that the bike might ever drown. If I ever had to drain water from my CRF300L Rally, it would be quite a process just to access the sparkplug. I think people are making too big a deal about it missing a couple horsepower. I'm interested to see what owners say about maintenance, fuel economy, and the gearing of the current 5-speed transmission over the next few years. Until then, I'll be sticking with my CRF.
Still waiting for efi 6spd v twin lightweight dualsport with wind protection, good range, cornering abs, quickshift/autoblip, and slipper clutch. Those aprilia vtwin dualsports/supermotos were COOL🥶
These are doable for the younger guys with everything being as expensive as they are now. Fuel injection +. Weight is kinda heavy on the sm. My question ? How good/bad is the suspension?
Thanks for the overview. And it's actually lost a little power compared to The DRZ. It's the same torque, but two less horsepower. I think they're still going to sell a gazillion of these things. It's always been a great selling bike, the people that ride this type of bike aren't going to care too much about another 15 or 20 lb. Imo
I've got a carbureted yz250f I'm thinking about getting it Street legal modified I wonder how much I have to put into it how much money and where I can get it done I know I guess I can do it myself actually I'll need a headlight and blinkers
I did a build series and show you exactly how to make a dirt bike street legal. It is pretty simple and won't cost you all that much. Check out my supermoto build videos: cyclecruza.com/supermoto_build
I'll choose my WR450f over one of those all day every day but for someone who who is getting into sumo or a noob they seem ok 👍 but no comparison to my Yamamoto 😂
I am thrilled they went FI on this model, but disappointed its still 5 speed. However, the need to re-jet isn't there anymore, but now flash tuning will be available and yield great power increases with some light mods. That said, unless it's cheaper than the new KTM 390SMC-R, this may fall short in the sales.
The extra weight brings these up to the same weight as an XR650L.... And these are definitely gonna cost more. I like the DRZ but I would personally go with the XR650L. I wish they'd give the DR650 the same modernization. New frame, efi etc.
If they really wanted to remodel and move these bikes, they should of added a 6 speed Trans, and up the displacement to a 450, get a few more ponies out of it. It's still hard to justify buying one of these new, with all the other options out there.
That would have required an entirely new engine/transmission. It may be fine if they widened 4th and 5th gears. The DR650 has a 5 speed and cruises at 75-80 easily and has no trouble hitting 100mph, and the 400 has similar hp. It's probably going to get much better mpg as well. And really, until people ride it we don't know how the whole package feels under power.
If you don't have a DRZ400 yet, and about to get one, wait for the DRZ4, but if you already have a DRZ400, especially if you have already done mods to it like FCR39, full pipe, and Hotcams, stick with it.
Cyclecruza I agree with your evaluation of these bikes. While I'm sure that they are fun to ride they could be much better. Kawasaki did the exact same thing with the new KLR650 a year or two ago, fuel injected it and the weight went way up with no other improvements. And that's after decades of ignoring the model. Meanwhile most Japanese sportbike models get complete redesigns every 3 or 4 years. Personally I feel insulted by the Japanese manufacturers cavalier treatment of dualsport and mid sized adventure bikes. If I buy any more bikes they will almost certainly be Chinese. Currently I have 2 Yamaha WR250Rs that I adventurized and that I love, like countless other fans I always hoped for a larger WR dualsport.
CycleCruza, can you make a video explaining in details about super moto and dual sport, and the difference between them, please? i don't know anything about these types. i might be interested to get one in the near future for my country property. thanks.
I have my 2006 ktm smr 560 supermoto and plan to keep it. It is carb bike but i like that i can start it with dead battery. It is better than any nee fuel injected bikes i’ve had.
Also, I like the idea of the old bike because if it’s not broke don’t fix it. How long have they been around 20 years? They’re the most reliable Cheap maintenance Motorbike and that suits me. I don’t want to high powered motorbike that I’m rebuilding after 20 hours of use and changing the oil every ride there was a reason that Suzuki DRZ 400 lasted so long and we’re not changed anyhowI think that the new bikes look nice but I’ll be keeping my old one which is only a couple years old and yeah I had a DR 650 before that never let me down. It was just too heavier unfortunately for just bush passion.
I like what Suzuki has done with the drz. Yes, it’s heavier, because of the need for EFI, emissions, abs, and mandatory stuff to sell in different markets. Should be able to shed most of that added weight though, if you desire. The drz is a freakin durable workhorse, and though not powerful, has loooong service intervals. It’s a proven, time tested formula and I’m glad Suzuki updated it instead of canceling it altogether. I don’t mind the 5 speed, and think it works for the bike. The 5 vs 6 speed debate is overdone in my opinion, and if anything would just need a wider spread of the 5 gears to make people happy, but whatever. I’d rather hoon around and ride more with less hp than have to service it all the time.
People that complain about 5 speed transmissions are ridiculous. I got a 5 speed wide ratio gearbox on my YZ450FX supermoto and it is great on the street and highway. I am most disappointed with the increase in weight with the new bikes. They could have at least kept it the same weight, the DRZ400 was already heavy but now they are tanks. They should have did all aluminum for the frame and put tubelss wheels on the supermoto, tubes increase the weight and make dealing flats an irritation.
How do you figure you're going to shed the extra 20lbs??? If you swap the exhaust and go to a lithium battery, you'd be lucky to save 8-10lbs. The DRZ400SM was a pig, this is a pig + 20lbs. Even if you could shed the 20lbs, you're still back where you started with the DRZ400SM, a pig!
@ I said shed most of the weight (18lbs gained, actually). The new exhaust has two cats, so full exhaust and battery should come close! It’s inherently heavier with a beefier frame and subframe, and mandated electronic bells and whistles. And like you said, it’s a pig, and was a pig, so same piggy drz formula, which is a tried and true tank of a hooligan machine that you can beat up on and commute with. Sounds like you didn’t like the drz in the first place, so get something different perhaps? But as an off the shelf reliable supermoto with enough power to hoon, it has its place in the market and doesn’t really have any direct competition. The drz gets a lot of haters from paper racers, but it’s also got a cult following of people who love it. I also think a lot of criticism comes from people who want a different kind of supermoto, a lightweight factory sm with lots of power, long service intervals, and reliability for drz price, which unfortunately doesn’t exist so their frustration gets taken out on the drz, which can take it cause it’s a freakin tank and eats abuse! Now with EFI!
I’m one who loves my Drz. Saying it’s too heavy is ridiculous. The Klx and Crf weigh about the same with less hp. Suzuki probably geared 5th higher, so quit your bitching and go ride the new one. You can’t review one from your couch.
I personally prefer the Carby’s and the old style Motorbike. I liked them nice and cheap and least I can push the thing if the battery goes flat. I don’t know what all the fuss is. Is this fuel injection? That means it’s got a Cadillac converter which you lose power so you gotta change the whole exhaust and then get it tunedso yeah I’m more than happy with the old version
I'll be keeping my old school carby drz4ooE, love the old school look. Not interested in the heavier and slower drz4s and not interested in all that elecronic gizmo crap.
Like it or not, it is a move in the right direction for Suzuki and the weight is negligible. One thing to consider is that 19 pounds can probably get eliminated via new full system and some evapo garbage getting removed. Combined with efi which will probably be able flashed we could make the mid 40s in power figures. I want one even if it weighs more and it still remains as a Drz workhorse
@@alphacapowhy do you need 5? Why not 4 or even 3. fuck it lets just have one super long gear where you have to slip the clutch until your going 30mph 🤪
XR650R is space ship for this new bikes, with 60 horsepower and 130 kg and if someone can't handle kick start only, shouldn't ride cross bikes at all..:)...find one in mint state for 5K and forget anything else..consider this if you're not happy with new bikes in general...🤔
CHANNEL RULES: *Hate on motorcycle weight, like you're some kind of skinny child that can't pick up a shovel handle.* *Hate on electronic throttles, in spite every single new motorcycle coming with one, and no amount of whining is going to reverse that.* *Scoff at most new motorcycles with unfounded skepticism, because anything new is worse. Haven't sat on it, haven't touched it, haven't seen it, but it's a bad motorcycle.*
You must have no clue about dual sports and supermotos. I bet you never even rode one? Weight is everything when it comes to riding off-road, the heavier the bike the more fatigued you will become. There is a big difference in riding a 333 lb bike off-road vs a 265 lbs bike. I'm slim but lean and can bench 300 lbs, don't get it twisted. I can ride a big azz 500 lb ADV bike off-road but you won't make it very far before you are gassed out for wrangling a tank on trough terrain for a long ride. Only noobs or Harley riders think weight of the bike is no big deal. lol
@@CycleCruza hahahaha You'll change your perspectives when you reach middle age. Squabbling over 20 pounds here, 8 pounds there, 17 pounds over there. It's just flat dumb. You do realize that you don't have to carry a motorcycle around, and the location of the weight means more than the measurement of the weight. But that's thinking deeper than skin.
THANK GOD I have an old school DRZ400sm! this new one looks goofy, heavy, more shit to go wrong, and now a damn catalytic converter lol. Nah I’m good, I love my good old carburetors ❤
freaking carb this freaking carb that dude did you ever drove anything with a an FCR carb swap?Do it for once and then come back n tell us youropinion you now have much efi expiriance from your yz wr and smc
20 years we waited for the same power and extra weight…all tech that you don’t want on an sm. Why on earth would you need TC for 38hp? Style update looks good and appreciate it makes power lower down but nowhere near enough to be better than the age old outgoing model. I have two 400sm’s…a k5 and a k6…both 40hp with 10kg less weight.
Still a 5-spd? They’ll sit. 5-spd = fail. Anyone who has ridden this bike at highway speeds knows how bad it needed a 6th gear. New ratios or not, it won’t be enough. Kawi knows how to build this bike albeit with less power. Suzuki almost had the holy grail.
@CycleCruza I'm still stoked about my suzuki gsx8s I bought last year brand new off the showroom floor. It was 10,2?? Out the door. They had the assembly fees and all that crap, but hey. It's my first street bike and iv ben loving it. Not to mention it hauls ass. 🫡
I'm still looking for a reliable dual-purpose/adv bike. Nothing........My modified Honda Rally 300 kicks ass in dirt and side roads. It's "little" bike on the highway, just not enough power. It took extra $3000 to fix it, as honda ships out bubble gum toy. A "rally" version of the DRZ would be the ticket. For that the bike should be 6 speed or at least short 1st gear and tall 5th gear. Most likely, this new one will not have such gearing, seems the engine is based on the old one. Larger tank, bit wider seat, some wind protection. No electronics, please, cable driven throttle, no rider modes, the led screen is fine. DRZ Rally at current weight would be fine. All these manufacturers are smoking electronics, rider modes, slipper clutch, bla bla bla. This DRZ most likely will be a bulletproof bike that could have been the unicorn..........I went with the new CFMOTO mt450 (Ibex) and could not be happier. Too bad.
Can’t beat Yamaha. I have a drz. It’s a pig. It took them twenty plus years to add fuel injection and twenty more pounds at a cost of horsepower. Smh. Shame on you Suzuki.
Zero effort to make it lighter, zip, nada, nothing. yeah im glad they finally upgraded it and added FI, still, very disappointed. 5 speed porker, with 24 years to make it better this seems like a major fail to me. would definately like to try one but don't know about buying one.
Fuel injection... over rated and because its also electronic, adds a potential point of failure. Not a whole lot of gains power wise but adjusted surely to meet emission requirements. When it works yeah should be good and tunable too. Just glad Suzuki keeps it alive and gave it a little update. Heavier and less fuel capacity... um wrong direction boys. Looks like the did the update but the results show they did not do their homework. Really a bit disappointing considering how long everyone has been waiting.
1 I'm with you CC. These both look good, but they pale in comparison to your YZ 250. Even if I wanted one of these, I'd wait a year and buy used. Let someone else pay the new bike premium and work out the new model bugs.
Suzuki dropped the ball with these new bikes. Way heavier, less fuel capacity, ride by wire throttle and electronics and little power added. And I bet they'll charge 9-10k for it.
Big disappointment....I was really expecting COMPLETELY NEW! Same 💩💩with Kawasaki with the KLR...understand they are great bikes...but they do minimal changes! That's why KTM and Husky are dominating the street legal end of sales...
If only KTM's were as reliable as the Japanese bikes and their parts as available. However, KTM/Husqvarna are always improving their bikes and usually have the best performance.
Sorry but a "review" when you don't have any riding pov riding footage or even actual riding footage of yourself gets an instant dislike. Wish people would stop throwing the word review around with all they've done is read a spec sheet like all of us have done..

You should really start calling these overviews or highlights. You really can't review something until you actually get some personal time with it.
Go cry about it
And you don't know the weight of any Japanese bike until you weigh it yourself. The manufacturers are all LIES !!!
Whoever says they are numerous other options out there is ignorant. Not everyone lives in USA to have access to the old DRZs, in Europe we have nothing in this CC range. Also not everyone wants to go through the trouble of converting a dirt bike to SM. It's for me, not for you, thanks.
@@ChPetru Very WELL said! 👏👏
My 2006 model has 54,000 miles and is on the original engine
@@jakeviolet2195 When your out in the middle of know where reliability is the most important thing, full stop.
@@jakeviolet2195 said: "Reliability doesn't sell motorcycles". Tell that to Honda Motorcycles.
Ive got a 2010 drz,sm, love the look love the bike!
This guy misses the point on a lot of stuff.
He looks at the spec sheet and comments on that.
Hes never ridden a drz and he cant ride for sheet.
I love how every youtuber is already hating on the new and the old.
I've been riding my drz400s for 3.5 years full time, no car, 30,000 miles and never needed abs. And I ride it hard!
It's how power delivered is what matters. Also gearing, tire size, weight. Location of weight. Suspension, brakes. A motorcycle is a sum of their parts. Specs are for hype. I could say specs are meaningless? But. I won't. Ya'll drink the Horsepower coolaid😮
Why you so critical?
Just spitting facts 😢😢😢
The old DRZ was underpowered, and there was nothing in the way it was delivered to compensate for it. Unless they have done something very different with this engine, it sounds like more of the same. It really needs 45 hp and a 6 speed to get the juices flowing.
@@jamesmegill 100% agreed.
I'm excited about it. And the extra weight is all that immissions crap. Take all that off, flash it, then see what happens. Get one.
Hell Yes
Suzuki finally getting their act together after releasing the 8R. Still we can look forward to the new look of the DR-Z being around for the next 20+ years.
Is good looking bike but 5 speed and only 38 horsepower disappointed, it should of been 6 speed and 45 horsepower or more
The worst part is the new bikes are heavier!
Ride by wire?
No
@@CycleCruza Ugh thats dog shit.
Perfect starting bike, and you can still do anything on it after you get experience
Yes, dual sports and supermotos are great staring bikes and they can take a beating so less worries if you drop it nad also much cheaper to replace any plastics.
This might replace my 390 duke adv for a supermoto swap
I'm completely excited for the upgrade I'll be a first-time rider next summer, I've always liked this bike, but it was so antiquated until now.
Screw the R9. I’m getting this 😂
You'll probably have more fun.
R9 gonna be the new R6 in terms of insurance costs and registration BS. Just for some clip ons
@@ih8momjokes1 for sure
😂💯
Spec sheets don't tell the story, seat time does.
@@CycleCruza It won't be a disappointment for the right costumers, Cycle. The KTM wasn't enought for you and so a 400cc...
@@jakeviolet2195 Funny I hear this all the time but I had the complete opposite opinion. The 250's are way too slow feeling and lacking torque. The 400 motor was worth living with the older tech
MODERN, GOOD RELIABILITY, AND POWER.Thats all we want from the supermoto market, and no one can seem to make it.
Get an electric one for that
I'm seeing a lot of negative crap from people saying it isn't better because it's not lighter and more powerful.
@twowheelsdown2002 dude my scooter brings 38hp at 400cc and its pretty reliable so if Piaggio can do it Suzuki can do it better and it doesn't matter drz was 400cc in the past wr and yz was 400cc in the past also and went to 450 drz can do it to
@@tougeattack123 They stayed at 400cc so they didn't have to retool everything and could keep the cost down. Ride your scooter instead then.
AWESOME BIKE!!!
Hey Cruza I've been here a long time and it just hit me I think you've only done one staircase. I'm just clowning you keep the vids coming..
Get a WR450f
I did a build series and show you exactly how to make a dirt bike street legal. It is pretty simple and won't cost you all that much. Check out my supermoto build videos:
cyclecruza.com/supermoto_build
I'll choose my WR450f over one of those all day every day but for someone who who is getting into sumo or a noob they seem ok 👍 but no comparison to my Yamamoto 😂
How is the Grom 6 gears but no the drz
I don’t think it’s worth buying the first year but maybe it will actually improve later on
You’re the man. So I was wondering if you would review the 2025 750cc Yamaha Tmax scooter?
Pretty sick man!!
Do they have a 6th gear and fuel gauge? That’s all I really need to know 👍🏻
The extra weight brings these up to the same weight as an XR650L.... And these are definitely gonna cost more. I like the DRZ but I would personally go with the XR650L.
I wish they'd give the DR650 the same modernization. New frame, efi etc.
Yeah they forgot a gear… wtf Suzuki?
Looks good, but I’m hoping that the price of used ones go down. I don’t mind a carburetor.
Is it a desaxe engine ?
The reliability is a selling point...if I do buy I'm already figuring how much $$ to bring up to my liking
Klx300 is under 6k and it’s a 6speed . 8k for a drz is to much
Yeah the KLX is a better deal to be honest.
I like my ancient carburated tricked out 2018 Sumo, braaaaaap!
2:52 does That F Indicate a Gas Gauge And Not A Half Empty Light??
Looks very light weight to me dont be sad about HP. Full of electronic so not so bad
It’s 150kg…it’s heavy as shit for an sm
Agreed. Suzuki did say they revised the 5speed so that is probably saying they made each longer which is good
People that complain about 5 speed transmissions are ridiculous.
About time I finally get a motorcycle.
One sad fact is that they never put a sixth gear in! It would’ve made the DRZ absolutely perfect!!
Does it have a cat? That probably added to the weight
Yes of course, you cam remove some weight with mods but you'll still be heavier than the last generation DR-Z400. The new bikes are tanks.
If it had a 6th gear and didn't gain weight, I would've considered trading in the '25 KLX300sm I just bought for it.
Why do u need a six speed on a dualsport?
@@alphacapowhy do you need 5? Why not 4 or even 3. fuck it lets just have one super long gear where you have to slip the clutch until your going 30mph 🤪
XR650R is space ship for this new bikes, with 60 horsepower and 130 kg and if someone can't handle kick start only, shouldn't ride cross bikes at all..:)...find one in mint state for 5K and forget anything else..consider this if you're not happy with new bikes in general...🤔
Yeah the XR650R is a solid bike for sure.
Yeah man, the pig is something special…I have a bone stock supermoto (uk) just uncorked. 60hp and 130kg as you say…it’s wild.
I gotta be getting over 40hp after my carb upgrade cause I smoke my buddy's stock drz
I don't think the carb was ever a problem. They needed to improve the transmission.
Look at the tiny exhaust outlet and the CAT lump in the header, it tells the story, stock for stock, this bike will be lucky to match the old DR-Z 😂
I think I'll pass on the new one. Maybe get the new plastic if it fits on my 2018.
Definitely want that headlight and front fender!
If they can turn the softwares like ducati moto i dont see the problem. I mean that was the bike to bring all bikes up to par for the future
CHANNEL RULES:
*Hate on motorcycle weight, like you're some kind of skinny child that can't pick up a shovel handle.*
*Hate on electronic throttles, in spite every single new motorcycle coming with one, and no amount of whining is going to reverse that.*
*Scoff at most new motorcycles with unfounded skepticism, because anything new is worse.
Only noobs or Harley riders think weight of the bike is no big deal. lol
@@CycleCruza hahahaha
You'll change your perspectives when you reach middle age.
Squabbling over 20 pounds here, 8 pounds there, 17 pounds over there. It's just flat dumb. You do realize that you don't have to carry a motorcycle around, and the location of the weight means more than the measurement of the weight. But that's thinking deeper than skin.
@@CycleCruzaprove you can bench 300 with perfect form
How are you reviewing a bike that’s not even out yet? Lol
It got you and me to click so he accomplished his goal.
Looks good
If it doesn't have a 6th gear, I'll just keep my 07. Simple and reliable.
6th speed?
You should do a power to weight ratio comparison with the YZ in the KTM
Europe had a fuel injection model?? That's new to me....
I may get the SM.
I'm gonna buy this once become available in the Philippines
Damn now I got to go buy as many of the old ones as i can
Going from a steel frame to an aluminum frame and gaining 20lbs is ridiculous
I don't understand why Suzuki cheaped out with this bike.😔
Wel, for europe it is something new. Would love the sm along my t7.
Most of yall could stand to lose 20lbs tho 😂
But the bike just gained 20lbs, so now people have to lose 40lbs lol
WE'RE GETTING A FUEL GAUGE!!
I love the suzuki, its just a 6,000 dollar bike. Any more than that is just not worth it. It's a great bike though 👌
I agree! I bet the new bikes will be 9-10k. These new bikes are not worth that much.
Love my drz.
7:17 When did Europe have a fuel injected DRZ?
For a long long time.
its perfect for a first bike or first supermoto, think a 450 supermoto at 250 lb is a bit much for a newbie
Yes the DRZ4S/DRZ4SM is a great starter bike for sure. I would not recommend a 450 for noobs, they are violent.
They really should've made this a 450/500... Big fail
I will buy the new KTM 390 ENDURO R 2025! More Power, 6 gears, bigger fuel tank.
So the drz is still a POS but with new plastics, got it.
Too bad.
Its disappointing they couldn’t make a 450-550- maybe a 800 🤞
Let's go for a riiiide
Yeah!!
Can’t beat Yamaha. I have a drz. It’s a pig. It took them twenty plus years to add fuel injection and twenty more pounds at a cost of horsepower. Smh. Shame on you Suzuki.
It's 5 HP more now, what kind of mathematics is this
Zero effort to make it lighter, zip, nada, nothing. yeah im glad they finally upgraded it and added FI, still, very disappointed.

I'm with you CC.
Headlight ugly and I hope it comes in darker colors. Idk what’s up with that cotton candy blue.. don’t like it on the klx 300sm either
