      Don’t forget that macaque got sun wu kongs power by tricking MK

    • @RVSketch
      @RVSketch  4 месяца назад

      @@voidedspark6494 If you are talking about Macaque's powers/abilities, then I'm going to have to disagree there.
      In season 1, Macaque actually didn't steal MK's specific powers, he stole the power/energy fuelling them - which is why Macaque says "Thank you, for giving me all of Monkey King's power" in that episode, instead of "powers".
      And remember, Sun Wukong's power that Macaque stole was returned to MK at the end of that episode.
      In season 2, we can see in the flashback that Macaque has had the ability to make clones for a long time. And he uses this power again in season 3.
      In season 3, there is also a scene where we see Macaque shapeshift into a bird.

    I think there is a high chance of red buttocked horse monkey showing up in season 5 mainly based of what we have seen so far with the new villain being in the underworld (death) and nuwa appearing in the season 5 set (she made humanity out clay, life) i think the main theme of the new season might be life and death kind of like the red buttocked horse monkey is able to avoid death and lengthen its life connecting it to the theme of the season (?) this made more sense in my head not gonna lie 😭

      @@caramela56706I have 2 theories about MK's origin.
      My 1st theory is that MK was meant to be Sun Wukong's child or something of the like. Maybe he had wanted a family at one point and "Nuwa" decided to grant that wish? We see Wukong standing next to the stone when it was whole, looking at it before turning his head towards the "camera". Like he was being told about the "child" and was about to question it.
      When he met MK at the start of the series, he said, "I've been kinda watching you". We don't know for how long, but he may have been watching over MK since birth. (Or maybe it was only a week. Who knows.) He may not see himself as a good father figure and may have seen to it that MK was raised by someone who could/would care for him. Or someone may have been after MK's life and hid him away.
      Even now, he may not be comfortable with the idea of being a father and prefer to keep MK in the dark, until he saw MK glitching in and out of his monkey form.
      2nd theory is that MK was made to be the reincarnation of the Zodiac Monkey. I hope the Zodiac appear, if not season 5, a later season or a special. Monkey is missing (be it that they ran away or died) and the others go looking for them. Finding MK, they think he's been kidnapped or doesn't remember them, and try to "rescue" him.
      Either theory would be interesting to see and explore. I have had more theories, but they fall apart too easily.

    This is such a cool idea, and I really hope in season 5 we get more on the other two spiritual primates! My only issue with the theory is that if there were originally 4 spiritual primates, why would the originator be individually sun wukong? Idk I feel like it puts too much importance and focus on sun wukong when they're all supposed to be equal. And while I do believe in the macaque being from/part of sun wukong, maybe the other two could be correlated with each other and not specifically sun wukong? Also the idea of mk being like a subcategory of the original stone monkey celestial primate is really cool lol, and it'd be awesome if he did have to face someone with the same origins as him, and them being like arch nemeses, ooh plus if he's forced to kill them at the end which would directly parallel swk and macaque, though considering the show and mk it's more likely for a redemption, but honestly they've done that too much and mk fighting with how strong his powers are and just being sent off the deep end would be awesome. Especially if they would technically be considered siblings this is such a fun idea actually

The second one is "The Macaque Monkey/Six Eared Macaque", which you can tell has Macaque in it. This third one only has Wukong again, weirdly enough. Thank you! And I'm glad to have helped! If you want some insight into the thought that went behind my drawings/interpretations of the other two Four Spiritual Primates, I made sure to only look at species of monkeys and apes that lived in China (of course, you can totally do non-Chinese species if you want - JTTW is a fantasy world).
      And I made the Long-Armed Ape Monkey an Eastern Black Crested Gibbon because a. it's a gibbon, and b. that species of gibbon has long arms (but all gibbons do). But also I just liked the look of that species tbh.
      I made the Red-Bottomed Horse Monkey a Formosan Rock Macaque because they have red bottoms (although there are plenty of other monkey species with red bottoms 😅).

    I'm happy you did a video on this!
    I find it very interesting to figure out and look into the four different spiritual primates. The only issue is that the theory of Macaque being a negative manifestation of Wukong's mind is only a suggestion, not a fact. Same way others assume he is the sworn brother when that's only a suggestion, not a fact. Even in your own research you sited it's stated as a suggestion not a fact which makes things very difficult to figure out as the book is an allegory made for interpretation.
    If we are truly talking about the straight hard facts about the four spiritual primates from JTTW, they are four that exist outside the categories of life and death, we are given their names, their abilities, and that's it. No, genuinely that's all we know about them. It doesn't help that Macaque only shows up once in the book and gets killed off almost immediately.
    This is where popular theories come in and that's one of them, which in my opinion it doesn't make much sense as the Buddha gave Macaque is own thing despite him being a clone/manifestation, if he was a clone/manifestation he wouldn't have these unique traits or attributes either, and let alone a creation that Wukong doesn't even know about. It's a popular theory that just doesn't make any sense to me.
    The struggle between the two is a literal fight meant to give a lesson in fighting against someone who could've been you if you didn't change your ways, and it was taken both too literally and metaphorically which led to the theory.
    Which ends up leaving us to another dead end, but this also leaves a lot of room for the show's interpretation of the other two primates, giving them A LOT of room to do very unique things! :D
    Love the video! I always enjoy watching your theories! ^^

    • @RVSketch
      @RVSketch  7 месяцев назад +2

      Thanks! I'm glad you enjoy my videos!
      And, personally, I do think the Six Eared Macaque is pretty clearly communicated to be made from Sun Wukong's mind in Journey to the West. I did make a video on this topic, but I'm planning to remake that video since I missed some stuff and I'd like to reframe it a bit.
      I will say that there is certainly a lot more evidence for the Six Eared Macaque coming from Sun Wukong's mind than there is for him being Sun Wukong's sworn brother.
      The Macaque Spirit King (Sun Wukong's sworn brother who some theorise is the same as the Six Eared Macaque) only has two lines where his is mentioned, but the Six Eared Macaque features heavily in Chapter 57, and the whole of Chapter 58 is dedicated to him. The Six Eared Macaque is also foreshadowed in Chapter 1 when Sun Wukong says to his master, "there are no six ears here".
      I'm also of the opinion that the Buddha was simply lying about those unique attributes of the Six Eared Macaque (or it could have been a metaphor) due to his previous portrayals and the portrayal of Buddhism throughout the text. But, I'll have to look into that a bit more lol.

    • @lunerstudios239
      @lunerstudios239 7 месяцев назад +1

      @@RVSketch Exactly my point as it's only a theory not an actual fact, you can believe it there is nothing wrong with that but with it having such extremely vague evidence in a book that is made to have different interpretations and understandings as it's all an allegory, along with it never actually being stated, there is no true right or wrong answer. It's all made for interpretation, especially when it highly depends on which version you are reading and getting translations from.
      In a movie or series or other piece of media it's a lot different, but with this special case there is no right answer. They can be seen as old friends, sworn brothers, lovers, purely enemies or a manifestation of the mind and none of them would be wrong or right, it's just what you interpreted from an allegory story
      That's why I've seen others express that they aren't fans of people treating and talking about these things as if they are facts, because in the end it's all up to interpretation and how you view it
      For me I simply see Macaque as that one time cartoony villain in a show that shows up once in order to reveal something big for convienence that ends up getting defeated that episode and then never appears again LOL

    • @RVSketch
      @RVSketch  7 месяцев назад +1

      @@lunerstudios239 well regardless, I hope the Monkie Kid writers do actually reveal Macaque's backstory instead of just leaving it vague lol. I mean, we still don't know why Sun Wukong killed Macaque 👀

      Thank you :) And the blood clone part is in Volume 1, Chapter 25. If you are using the Anthony C. Yu translation, the section I showed in my video is on pages 474-475.
      And I think it would be really cool if MK was made from a piece of each of the Four Spiritual Primates! In season 1, when MK was being trained by Macaque, he briefly created a shadow energy weapon, but that's one of Macaque's powers. MK being made from all four Spiritual Primates, including Macaque, could explain that!

    I do think something important to take into consideration is how much LMK Macaque is from JTTW Macaque given the presumable merging of Demon/Spirit King Macaque and Six-Ear Macaque that LMK has done.
    JTTW SEM is also supposed to be an exact duplicate of Wukong down to every last minute detail, though his staff is named differently, to the point that only Buddha could tell the difference between them (their abilities innate to them as Spiritual Primates, with the Six-Ears being a metaphorical title alluding to the sly and sneaking, duplicitous nature of SEM and that falls in line with their stated 'knowledge of all things'). LMK Macaque doesn't follow this. He looks very distinct from Wukong in the same way that Sonic and Shadow are Obviously Distinct (unless you somehow dont know them/are only seeing their silhouette). The 72 transformations are a learnable, teachable ability so any power Wukong learned from his first Master cannot be utilized as proof of LMK Macaque being a clone/clipping of Wukong. And to my knowledge, LMK Macaque does not have Wukong's Eyes of Truth-thats unique to MK regarding inheriting somehow (which is explainable if one considers that MK may have been incubated/born as a result of Wukong's natural chi signature, but id have to research the chinese philosophy and understanding of chi since i am only familiar with the Japanese fictional applications of ki).
    I dont think this theory is bad by any means, but i do think you assume too much similarity between source material and adaptational sequel without taking the descrepancies that already exist into account between what happened in LMK's timeline vs the actual novel JTTW.

    • @RVSketch
      @RVSketch  Месяц назад

      I actually have mostly taken all that into consideration - I go into it more in my video dedicated to my theory that Macaque is a clone (although I'm planning to make an updated version).
      My theory is that they did look the same, but, as Macaque was a hair clone, he made a deal with a demon/engaged in some sort of magic to become permanent, which changed his appearance.
      For Sun Wukong's eyes of truth - he got those when he was in the furnace, which also caused his eyes to become golden. Which is also stated in the S2 special. However, in LMK, Macaque's eyes are also golden and are identical to Sun Wukong's. Which indicates that Macaque does have Sun Wukong's eyes of truth but just doesn't use that power much (as how else does he have identical eyes, when Sun Wukong's eyes are supposed to be unique due to his experience in the furnace?)
      I should note that, in S1, Sun Wukong and Macaque's eyes are gold with white pupils, but they underwent slight redesigns, and in later seasons they have gold eyew with light gold pupils. For some reason, in the S3 character model and in the season 5 poster, they use the old eye design for Macaque (but the new design for Sun Wukong) but in S3 and the season 5 trailer, Macaque has the new eye design and we can see that his eyes are exactly the same as Sun Wukong's.
      Also, @darkbabtong_xd, the Senior Designer & Monkie kid show producer, was recently asked about Sun Wukong and Macaque's relationship, and he said:
      "their bond is deeply rooted from the original book."

    in the special when Mk turns into that giant monster monkey it looks like 3 tails and in the show there has 3 primates swk, macaque, and Mk so my theory is that each of his tails represents a celestial primate that he’s met and I also think the creature Subodhi isn’t Mk in a way because he says “used to form another, a simple creature with no past and no family” but he also said to Mk “Who or what you are even I don’t know” my theory is kind of like he originally a simple creature but something happened and he’s now this or he was created by accident when the woman tried to make the simple creature but in both of my theories this would explain why he was abandoned at such a young I also think that Mk can never lose his powers matter what I think since we saw him as a human she tried to remove his powers and thought she succeeded but as we seen Mk seem to always get his powers back no more what/who takes it from macaque taking it and the LBD

      @@goldenninja218 yeah, I think they'd be immortal. But there are different types of immortality - so Sun Wukong would be way more immortal than them because he gained pretty much every type of immortality.

      Well, these are theories for Monkie Kid, not Journey to the West.
      As Monkie Kid is an adaptation/reimagining, the Monkie Kid writers could do pretty much whatever they want with the other two Spiritual Primates and make some changes.
      The writers have already made other changes in Monkie Kid, like making the Three Demons of Lion Camel Ridge to be Sun Wukong's sworn brothers.

    • @RVSketch
      @RVSketch  8 месяцев назад +2

      Well, I don't think MK is one of the four. It wouldn't make sense, since the Buddha talked about the Four Spiritual Primates at the end of Journey to the West, hundreds of years before MK existed.
      And one of the Four Spiritual Primates is the Stone Monkey, who is Sun Wukong. MK is also a Stone Monkey, so he can't be one of the other two Spiritual Primates, because the other two are not in the Stone Monkey category, but MK is.

    • @redx7476

      Mk could be the reincarnation of one of them. I know what most of you are thinking. “How’s that possible when there immortal”

    • @RVSketch
      @RVSketch  8 месяцев назад +1

      @@redx7476 well, Macaque died, so I wouldn't say the Four Spiritual Primates are necessarily immortal lol - and immortal doesn't always mean unkillable. Sun Wukong is very immortal, but he didn't start like that - he's only immortal because he cultivated himself and ate and did a bunch of different things that made him immortal enough that he is effectively unkillable. But that's not normal.

      twitter.com/MonkieKidNews/status/1727001872337457542?s=20
      And the voice actor of Sun Wukong (Sean Schemmel) confirmed, at the Fanboy Expo 2023, that they were finishing up recording for season 5. You can watch the video where he says that here:
