There are two parts of the GCR mainline preserved, the GCR from Loughborough to Leicester and the GCRN from Nottingham to Loughborough where I volunteer.
I have a great fondness for the 9N's and their unusual design. It's a shame that they hailed from a railway that wasn't very sucessful. I would love to see a 9N preserved one day.
Forgot to say I hardly considor the Thompson L1's successful as they were known for shaking themselves to pieces for being so powerful. Also I don't really like the Thompson L1's anyway not just because of their problems but also because they replaced many of Gresley's V3's. Thank goodness a new V3 is planning on being built
to say something positive about the GCR, at least part of their mainline resulted in the biggest heritage railway that currently exists. I do find their engines gorgeous, even though most of them were scrapped with only two remaining

I got a DC one actually (fitted with a spare Hatton's chip meant for the Hunslet), though the serviceability of the loco is something I myself am not pleased with.
So uh yeah Sonic Models A5 review coming soon™
OH sonic models, when I heard you say "sonic A5" it put the fear of god in me.
Jesus, the GCR was worse off than i thought! But the 9N's are handsome looking machines, you can't deny that.
Why hello there
The final batch, built between 1925 and 1926, went straight to the North East. The LNER Encyclopedia has a picture of 1756 at Redcar Central.
Such an interesting and successful loco. It’s really a shame that none were preserved. We need to build a replica.
Crying shame the GCR is mostly gone. Could still see use today.

And soon they'll hopefully become one giant chunk of the GCML
And the GCR's Chiltern mainline still sees revenue earning service

It would have been nice to have at least ONE A5 preserved either in LNER Apple Green or Black with Red Lining

Thank you for doing this video
question, have ANY GCR steam locomotives survived into preservation?
A grand total of two. A 11F 4-4-0 and an 8K 2-8-0, both in the hands of the NRM I believe. the 8K is undergoing restoration at the preserved GCR.
@@FlyingScottand a new MSLR 2 4-4-0 is being built
You know, when both halves of the surviving GCR are reunited, they really ought to have a replica built of one of these engines.
We’re getting a new GCR Engine, a Class 2 4-4-0, and we also have a surviving 8K and 11F
Nice vid as always!
Can you do an episode on the G.N.R(Ireland) V and Vs class 4-4-0s?
The problem with the GCR it didn’t stop at many places and it virtually follows the route of HS2.
Good video as always! I have to ask at the last bit at 6:30, what station, town and bridge is that?
That would be Durham!
@@FlyingScott At 6:37 there's a speed restriction sign not painted black at its rear . . . . oops?
0:30 WOOHOO! GO WHITBY!! YEAH!!!
JNR C56s Maybe?
I don’t know what to comment

I’m pretty the gcr’s 4-6-0s were successful
Did you get it with sound?
The sound file is thinner than a squirrel fart in a hurricane.
Not best pleased.
