Donkey Kong Land is a video game developed by Rareware and published by Nintendo for the Game Boy. This game was first released in June, 1995. It is a completely original follow-up to the original Donkey Kong Country. The game was later followed by Donkey Kong Land 2 and Donkey Kong Land III which are both for the Game Boy along with Donkey Kong Land itself. However, Donkey Kong Land III had a Game Boy Color remake. Most of the game's music and sound effects were reused in the Game Boy Color remake of Donkey Kong Country and its sequels. The Land games should show up at the next SGDQ. They are arguably harder than any of the DKC's, simply because of the problematic camera and difference in controls/feel.

This was my first Donkey Konga, and I played this game enough as a kid to actually know all the things he talked about, EXCEPT the King K Rool fight and the don't roll thing. Never knew that rolling slowed you down. I always thought that if you rolled through an enemy you would get a speed boost.

I vaguely remember discovering that exploit for myself back when the game was still fairly new.
Good times.
That last bit on the second half of the K. Rool battle, though, was just ace!

With regards to saving, you are at least able to trek back to an easy level between hard ones and collect the KONG there.

It's weird not seeing Diddy or DK get a boost off rolling over enemies. lol It gets me every time playing DKC Returns/Tropical Freeze too. At least they've always kept the air jumps.

This game actually is in full color and each level has a unique pallet on the super Gameboy version. On a Gameboy color or Gameboy player, it will appear like this (only one color pallet). If you have an original Gameboy, it will appear grey.
