    I was at a concert at Berklee College of Music in Boston, maybe 1978, Brecker Brothers were playing, and Chick Corea just walks out onstage, over to the keyboard player, and motions to him like "Can I play?" Keyboard player's jaw drops, he steps away from the keys, and Chick takes a smoking solo, nods to the crowd, nods thanks to the keyboard player, and walks off the stage. It was surreal.

      Someone should have bought Chick a drink. Then again, Berklee isn't a bar. Could've thrown him a Bud Light from the audience though...

    I wish all those that upload their drum videos on RUclips realise that the secret is in having "soft hands". Look at Gadd effortless. Comes when you become a master after tens of thousands of hours of playing.

    I have always been a huge Corea fan since the "Now He Sings" album and in the mid 1970's was in a band that played several RTF songs. When I bought Leprechaun & heard "Nite Sprite" I had my "Oh my God" moment especially when Chick & Joe Farrell trade solos. I later had the privilege of seeing Gadd at a drum clinic sponsored by the now-defunct West LA Music. Great to see these two icons playing together again!

    This is one of my favorite songs of all time. I'm so glad someone captured a live recording of it!!!! I'm amazed at how Chick seemed to always know what little thing to play to complement what another musician in the band was doing. One of the best to ever do it.

      agreed, it was a huge revelation to teenage me who mostly knew pop and rock music at the time. I changed schools half way through high school and met a kid who was essentially a piano prodigy, and he turned me on to Chick Corea cat and opened a whole new world.

    • @bumzigan
      @bumzigan 5 лет назад +1

      I actually thought Gadd did a great job of this and I watched this after I just watch the version with Vinnie playing Night Sprite. Gadd always had a super relaxed feel compared to Vinnie's more driven feel, but I thought Gadd really drove this, no sign of old age here. BTW did anyone notice that Gadd is now playing matched grip? I changed to matched grip about 20 years ago and for me that really took a while to get used to but worth it in the end.
