Always loved the crispness of the Cali mornings. The redwoods and it’s surrounding natural beauty is the California I know and love. In this respect it inspires. Yes, Solvang has become commercialized like so many beautiful places every where. However if you are willing go during week day and endeavor during the early morning hours you’ll have enough time to enjoy the specialness, the charm. Nice ride going on DJ.

I’m an avid cyclist. I’ve ridden the Alisos Canyon Loop about 10 yrs ago with a competent group of folks. Wonderful place. Just pick & choose time & day(s) to do anything in our time crunched society. Off peak. Most peeps are late mornings & weekends.
Been on the 299 dozens of times. Not sure if this was your first time but it used to be much more winding a few years ago. They straightened out lots of the turns and widened it is spots. Weaverville was always my favorite place to stay.

@@DJ_OnAWing I could spend hours telling you about all the places and stops along Hwy 299. Going back up that way after Labor Day.
I used to love going to Solvang as a kid.
I used to love Solvang. It’s always so crowded now when you ride through there. The restaurants and bakeries are not as good as they used to be. It’s still a pretty town to view though.
Still enjoying the Series! The Deer just Disappeared...

Living my dream, wrecked 2 years ago and can't afford another bike atm, hopefully gonna ride again in 2025.

I see few cars there. DO you have to pay the high communist tolls to travel in that beautiful road?
No toll fees. The only toll we had to pay was coming back home over the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco.
