Trying to get the audio on my GoPro 10's cleaned up. Too many videos with lots of popping and crackling in them. I think it's sounding a lot better now. We have big trees on Vancouver Island but those are something else! Hoping to see this area in person one day. I wonder if the area goes all colourful in autumn? Was this in September?

@@BobLorentz-i5h the flapping noise is in the intercom. Kevin, who is riding with us, has a Chinese knockoff of a Sena. When I bring him into our mesh group it sometimes make that noise. Thank you for watching and for your comments.

I’ve been to Oregon and Washington, but not California. Never considered before how far Southern California is from Portland!
How far south into California are you planning to go?

Yes it is. I believe the fire is completely under control now. The fire was located south of Coalinga. It’s absolutely gorgeous going up through the 101 north.
New to your channel, but I pulled a home built trailer behind my Harley Davidson Superglide back in the 80s. Then I stopped riding to raise a family. Now I'm riding a '22 Goldwing non-tour and I'm reworking my 40 year old trailer to use. Your Can-Am tailer looks really sweet.

"D" do you have any trouble with people in cars getting in front of you and doing what they call a "break check" / slamming their breaks on making you hit your breaks hard?
I’ve never had that happen to me personally. Have you had that experience? That would suck, especially pulling a trailer.
@@DJ_OnAWing I don't have a trike yet but cars are famously known for doing it to truckers so that the trucks hit them and then sue the company and collect insurance money. I was just wondering with bikes as there is just so much road rage out there, so much hate.

As I told you before, I’ve been on the 299 dozens of times. I’ve started in the 50’s in Eureka and within an hour we would hit over 100 on the 299.

I took my last drive with my Dad on 299 (also from temecula to Vancouver BC)he passed away the following summer, I'll always remember that drive😢

I see few cars there. DO you have to pay the high communist tolls to travel in that beautiful road?
No toll fees. The only toll we had to pay was coming back home over the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco.
Always loved the crispness of the Cali mornings. The redwoods and it’s surrounding natural beauty is the California I know and love. In this respect it inspires. Yes, Solvang has become commercialized like so many beautiful places every where. However if you are willing go during week day and endeavor during the early morning hours you’ll have enough time to enjoy the specialness, the charm. Nice ride going on DJ.

@@DJ_OnAWing I’m an avid cyclist. I’ve ridden the Alisos Canyon Loop about 10 yrs ago with a competent group of folks. Wonderful place. Just pick & choose time & day(s) to do anything in our time crunched society. Off peak. Most peeps are late mornings & weekends.
Been on the 299 dozens of times. Not sure if this was your first time but it used to be much more winding a few years ago. They straightened out lots of the turns and widened it is spots. Weaverville was always my favorite place to stay.

I used to love going to Solvang as a kid.
I used to love Solvang. It’s always so crowded now when you ride through there. The restaurants and bakeries are not as good as they used to be. It’s still a pretty town to view though.
North Rim was awesome. I spent 2 days running that place. Looking to visit the East Rim next.

I was born and partly raised in So. Cal. I left there when I was 13 when my father past away in 1967. Far to expensive out there now couldn't afford to even stick my big toe in the state lol. 🤣🤣 Great ride though hoss, enjoyed it much.

I also have to add to the GoPro comment: I originally purchased two GoPro 9’s from GoPro. They were giving me so many issues that GoPro couldn’t fix, that they asked me to return them for two 10’s.

I love the look of that helmet 13:49 does that have a tinted and clear shield?
It’s a Bilt helmet from cycle gear. The visor is clear on that one. The helmet I wear now is an Arai Signet X. That one has a photochromatic visor that tints automatically in sunlight.
Can't believe that my wife and I lived in Las Vegas for 30+ years. Got to crazy and rude, so now we live West of Vegas in the great little town of Pahrump, Nevada.|||| That was a fantastic trip, glad to get home....my butt was sore LOL
From the top of that "Bathtub Ring" to the water at Hoover Dam / As of July 14, 2024, Lake Mead's water level at the Hoover Dam was 1,062.35 feet above sea level, which is 81 feet below the average for this time of year.
@@homelessnomad101 I believe it dropped even more since we’ve been there. The levels in Lake Mead have gone down considerably.
19:25 I can remember when the dam was full and water was rolling over that spillway that your walking past right here. While at home and your on RUclips search for the Hoover dam build, they have a pretty good documentary on how it was built back in 1930. It's very interesting.
Yeah, I remember the first time I visited the dam, it was overflowing.
10:57 prior to 911 I was driving semi truck otr and would drive my semi over that dam on a regular basis, the turns became rather tight in some places.

Loving the Ride! Loving the Scenery and Loving the Conversation! Was trying to zoom in on your GPS to see if it showed your highest Altitude before going down the decline. Enjoying the Series.
Unfortunately the CarPlay doesn’t show the altitude. I think the highest we got on 299 was 5,000 feet.
Hey DJ, was wondering what type/make of gloves you are using; you seem to be able to work all the buttons on the bike plus on your phone and GPS with out any fumbling around. The gloves look like they would be rather clumsy when wanting to push a button. Thanks
Those gloves are made by Sedici. At first they’re a little cumbersome, but as soon as they’re broken in they’re fantastic. I bought little stickies from Amazon for the fingers to make them touch screen compatible.

22:01 Road rash is never a thought with those folks, they are of the group ("It will NEVER happen to me") I see people like those two and it makes my skin crawl to think what would happen to them if they went down...........and like you said, " It only takes a second".
People drive so crazy too. On this trip there were so many close calls we saw, and the road rage was crazy too.
