  • Liszt's Concert Etude No. 3 in D flat major has the nickname 'Un sospiro' ("a sigh"). It was composed in the late 1840s when Liszt was still a travelling virtuoso pianist. It is one of his most popular works, with it's delicate arpeggios and passage work intertwining with one of the composer's most beautiful melodies. It appears to have been one of Liszt's favourite works and he was still playing and teaching it regularly into old age.
