Great review Pete. Absolutely agree with your comments. I love the style, but at US$500 with a Seiko nh38 and recycled strap is a tough proposition. Lots of other similar choices with more robust specs. Thank you for sharing. Have a wonderful weekend, my friend.
As a pure vintage watch lover, what a great time to be a watch person. Finally more emphasis on vintage inspired watches. I love the vintage patina and actaully love it that more brands are using the no date Seiko NH38...in no date watches. It not only replicates the low beat rate of vintage watches of the past, it has no anoying ghost date position. Brands that continue to use the NH35 on a no date watch are just lazy and I avoid them.
I always appreciate this attention to detail from Peter Kotsa, in this case revealing the deformation of the edge of the dial due to the curvature of the glass! The FLX, a successful alchemy between nostalgic accents and resolutely contemporary features.
Accurate review! I like the idea of what Edward & team at Fleux are doing & their why. It’s just that everyone else is doing the same parts bin & aesthetic. Fleux (Faux?) need to create their own identity to differentiate themselves from others. Homage of the classics is OK, they need to tighten the relationship of the parts that make a great watch for today into the future, not repeat the historical fails of small crown, difficult to read hands, crappy strap.
@@Kale-w5t not anytime soon. There is such a nostalgia and drawcard in owning and using these mechanical and quartz watches as they are deeply embedded in our history 👍
@@richardb22 I've been lusting after a blue and gilt Neptune for years now. But the new ones only seem to be in black. It looks like the perfect dive watch. How is the lume on yours btw?
Of all the homages that I have purchased, the only one that was spot on out of the box was a Tactical Frog FX Diver. A beat error of 1.5 is an easy fix. Regulating them is part of the fun in buying NH series homages.
Partially on your review I ordered the Wise Hitman no date a few weeks ago. It should be getting ready to be sent here to the states. It was exactly $315 on the bracelet. I hope it comes on their new quick release with the on the fly adjustment. Seems like a hell of a bargain compared to the Fleux. Thanks for the reviews! Your one of the best on RUclips.
........ I really enjoy my Fleux FLX002 with its California dial , but when it comes to an Omega inspired big triangle at 12 I've ordered the new Helson Sharkmaster 300 , now with a Miyota 9039 ....... A good review of the FLX003 Peter , thank you ..........
This watch is stunning. But just a tad bit pricey. But by God if you’re looking for a Homage of a vintage Omega, you can’t go wrong. Thanks for the great review!
Didn’t know about these Pete, can’t quite put my finger on it but t doesn’t seem to work as well as it should. At first glance you think “ nice homage to Omega” but then not sure why,but it looks off? Could be the lack of chamfering on the hands especially the hour hand. I think Myota movements would be better as you say a bit slimmer & better accuracy. Seiko movements really seem to be on the back foot these days. I reckon if they listen to your critique & do a mark 2 with chamfered hands & Myota it could be a winner.
The big triangle throws the balance off. It wouldve been nice to see the version with the 12 that came with the same reference 165.024. It's laughable that NH is still being used, maybe because of its price point but that 1.5 beat error is unacceptable.
Overall Peter I like it! Not a fan of that particular Seiko movement & for the money, yeah a bit pricey. I’ve had a strap similar to the one you’ve complained about, so what I did was put it on my watch pad really tight for a few days. Then I basically crunched it up to shape it & it was acceptable! Ok I basically rung its neck!💪🏻🤬🤣
The watch does need to shave off a few millimeters of thickness in the case IMO, and u're right, the Miyota 9 series movement will be able to accomplish that. Otherwise, the watch looks quite good. I will always go for plexiglass over sapphire for that vintage look. Another great video review Peter, thank u! :)
Love this style of watch . The triangle is too large , but apart from that it looks cool. Saph glass would have been better , and a more accurate movement . I also think a bracelet is the way to go on this style of watch personally. Lorier make a great version already , so they have stiff competition. Id still go out and buy the omega though , i nearly did , but the one i really liked sm300 had the middle part of the bracelet highly polished , and it all just looked too glossy for my taste. And thats the problem , you always want the expensive one , lol. Nice watch though , thought the bezel looked really classy and well executed, and the faux lume . Great vid as always m8.
Wonderful design. I have a Lorier Neptune series 4, so i like the design. But this is at the same price and has an nh35 movement. My Neptune with a miyota 9000 series movement is a much better daily wear than my NH35 movement watches because of accuracy - you don't need to adjust the time early as much. They should increase the price by $100 and put a miyota 9000 series in it.
You had me liking it till you said Seiko. Not that Seiko movements are bad, but you really have to separate yourself from all the other mico startups, and putting a Seiko movement in is just not going to do it, at least for me. Maybe my taste is refining, and now I'm more Tudor, Omega, Marathon, higher end Seiko deluxe. Probably my taste is just refining. Good review.
Very good review, Peter. I have had this watch in my radar for a while, but its compromised- totally agree on the handset; they really need bevelling. And i jnow i would destroy the aluminium bezel and plastic crystal in a hot minute!
Fleux, like some other microbrands in the $500 range (e.g., Lorier), seems constrained by its pricing structure, resulting in the use of the same off-the-shelf case, crown, and strap as its other models. Surprisingly, Fleux doesn’t go the extra mile with a Miyota movement, instead opting for the SII NH38A, which is a mistake in my opinion. While there’s nothing wrong with the NH38A and cost considerations probably influenced this choice, other microbrands at this price point are shifting towards Miyota. Overall, this is an average microbrand offering, albeit with a well-executed, vintage-inspired dial.
Hi Peter. Great video as always. While it's a good looking piece the faux patina is not a good look, and that oversized triangle detracts from the overall look. Also, the font used is far too modern for the vintage aesthetic.
I do like the look of this watch, but I am done with Seiko NH movements and this one is too pricey for that movement. If they had dropped in a Miyota 9xxx movement, they could have shaved at least 2mm off the thickness of the case. Finally, anything other than a sapphire crystal is a non-starter for me.
I love Omega to watches inspired by Omega always interest me. But acrylic crystal watches aren't for me. I just fail to see their benefit except that they a cost saving measure. Good quality sapphire crystals look just as beautiful to my eye.
Not a big fan. Fauxtina has overstayed it's welcome and the triangle marker is entirely too big. For this type of design I think lorier neptune is a better choice.
I don't have a problem with fauxtina so long as its done tastefully. This is done on the darker side which tends to destroy longevity of the lume strength. My issue is the design. It looks generic imo.
Looks good but not refined I’d buy a wise in this price point over any right now that goes for divers, gmt, dress, gada …. Just luxury quality for that best price you can get it better fit and finish that Tudor or…
Not one that really appeals to me nor, in my view, is so successfully designed. It would have been welcome to take greater distance to the Omega and at the same time be sensitive to the utility of better hand faceting against a black background. The dimension of the triangle is probably going to be divisive. I do think it actually offsets the negative space a bit, the Omega is a little crowded in comparison, but I don't enjoy the look of it.
That's super overpriced. I can guarantee that this didn't cost more than $60 to produce. That's an off the shelf case and crown, non adjusted NH38, cheap stamped handset, cheap dial, cheap crystal and nasty strap. I hope you got well paid to peddle this $500 trash dude.

$500 for a homage with a n nh38 and a bad strap. I'd keep looking. Thanks for the review.
Lorier executes this vintage style the best in my opinion. And they offer bracelets as a standard option.
I agree! I would also go for the Lorier Neptune
