    I did not expect material innovation from Hanhart to be honest, but this sounds like a brilliant implementation of steel hardening and seemingly affordable too. Only Vesuviate I believe actually offered hardened steel watches for an affordable price. Now, the field watch styling is definitely attractive. It actually reminds me of my Stoma Partitio, but I do prefer the slight dressiness of the Stowa. For these cathedral hands I prefer Oris' take ( though not a fieldwatch to be strict). I do like Hanhart's second hand. Would be great if Hanhart's innovation rubs off on some other makers.

    Looks are ok very Alpinist/ murph but was hoping to hear that it’s using an in house movement. Granted the sw200 is a good movement but it just makes it another standard field watch using an off the shelf movement. For me the heart of a great time piece is its movement and that’s what sets a piece apart from the competition. CW are already using the same movement for less money so why not make it it COSC rated then it becomes a great watch and worth the investment. Also lose the oyster bracelet it’s been done to death and makes it look dated imo.

    I can think of a few improvements to this watch apart from the on-the-fly quick adjustment clasp: tighter tolerances between the lugs and end links, maybe slightly raised middle part of the end links (the drawn on indentation lines make it look cheap), decoupling crown upon screw-down (if it doesn't have it yet), and a SW300 option with 56 hours of power reserve.
    Am I willing to pay more for these? Abso-effin-lutely! I already notified Hanhart on their YT channel and they seem to be open to it.

      To get some perspective here, the British, US, and German field watches of WWII were 33mm. The Smiths De Lux watch that Sir Edmund Hillary wore when climbing Everest in 1953 was 32mm. Why would any solider, climber, explorer, etc want to tab with a dirty great clock strapped to their wrist? Not that I am complaining about 39mm, but any bigger takes it outside the category of being a field watch IMO.😛

    I get they historically do 5th of a second chronographs/stopwatches, but surely they should have divided the sub second track into 4, not 5 so that it makes technical sense and would look less fussy?
    Vacheron Constantin do the same with the Overseas three hand!!
    It's interesting that the Sinn chronograph in your intro does not even have sub second markers.

    Two questions. 1. Trying to determine the exact shade of blue the dial is. Is it similar to the Tudor Pelagos shade of blue? Or a darker shade? 2. Does the bracelet have the anti-scratch treatment? Is the bracelet as good and tight feeling as a Rolex Oyster?

The bracelet is also hardened (per Hanhart), but only to 1000 vickers. I believe it will wear better, with the straps of your choice, over the bracelet. In particular a Marine National parachute style strap. That style strap should offer more functionality in the field. I expect this watch to be an actual use over show field/tool watch. I dont understand why some watches are criticised for copying designs and others not? This is exact same design as the murph. Not similar, basically the same? Which brand did this design first? Im usually first to defend similar designs but this is a near 1:1 design with the murph? Am I missing something?

    How many mm of extension does the extension link provide? It’s hard to tell from the video, but it looks like it’s about 10mm, which would make it effectively useless in terms of practicality. Thanks for the awesome review!

    • @PeterKotsa
      @PeterKotsa  Месяц назад +1

      @@PeterKotsa Thanks for the response, Peter! How anyone at Hanhart thought that was a good idea is beyond me. Bruh, effectively no one is going to go diving with this watch. Wearing a watch over the wrist or over gloves is such a niche application. If they can make a 10-12 mm extension link, they could just have easily made a Rolex-esque 5 mm extension link that would’ve been useful to a much wider range of consumers. I love the brand, but I’m baffled by how they could make such a clear and obvious mistake.

    Peter I’ve been hanging off buying the Sinn 556 RS for awhile. Then this appears ain’t making it easier!😵‍💫🤤 Already owning the Hanhart 417 ES Edition is kinda making the decision for another Hanhart a tad easier. The quality & specs in general are very good & this one is definitely the same, if not better!👍🏻

    The most underrated watch in existence is the Chinese made Addiesdive Deepseahunter. No joke. For what it cost, it’s made me really think about why I’ve spent so much money on watches and why watch companies expect people to pay so much money for what they actually get.
