I've probably listened Ólafsson's play thousands of times. I've listened all the live performances of Ólafsson available on RUclips, but Bach Album's was the best. (WPD2022 was the next best. I'll put the link on the bottom row.) I have listened many performances by other professional pianists, but honestly, they were incomparably immature compared to Ólafsson's. Ólafsson's interpretation was considered close to perfection, and I started practicing using it as a kind of 'Bible'. I wish that Olaffson would include some of the beautiful ornamentation typically played by many on the organ. Personally, I think Ólafsson had tried various ornamentaion. I think the result is the interpretation of Bach's album. There are also parts that I feel sorry for while listening to various pianists' renditions, so when I play, I add a little bit of my interpretation. This is why I keep practicing the piano despite my lack of skills. When I start playing, I think that music piece becomes a part of me. Thank you for the sweet comment again!! 😊

If you are a beginner, practice breaking down to the smallest unit. If you practice with the mindset that you will conquer only one or two bars a day without being greedy, you will eventually be able to play the entire bar. And listen to the pianist's performance a lot while watching the score. As you listen to the performance, take a good look at how the pianist handles each part of the score. And practicing another song first to prepare for this is inefficient and will make you feel less motivated. If you want to play this piece, just practice this piece hard. No matter how difficult the piece is, it's possible playing one or half bar a day, right? That's how you can challenge yourself to a difficult piece. Good luck. 🍀

I'm also a huge fan of Olafsson's and will be seeing him live in duet with Yuja Wang in November. Can I ask where I might find a score of Olafsson's arrangement? I only have Stradal's transcription, too. I analyzed Ólafsson's performance by listening to it repeatedly. Ólafsson changed many parts of Stradal's.
As far as I know, Ólafsson is preparing to publish his transcription book. A few years ago, in a RUclips live chat, he said he was planning to release his transcription book. So please take your time and wait. I am also planning to start studying again when the transcrption book is officially published. 😊🎉

Thank you for listening. Model is Yamaha p115. It is currently discontinued and is being released as a new model called p225.
Any tips for someone that might begin with this piece ? (e.g. other Bach pieces that might prepare you for this)
If you are a beginner, practice breaking down to the smallest unit. If you practice with the mindset that you will conquer only one or two bars a day without being greedy, you will eventually be able to play the entire bar.
And listen to the pianist's performance a lot while watching the score. As you listen to the performance, take a good look at how the pianist handles each part of the score.
And practicing another song first to prepare for this is inefficient and will make you feel less motivated. If you want to play this piece, just practice this piece hard. No matter how difficult the piece is, it's possible playing one or half bar a day, right? That's how you can challenge yourself to a difficult piece.

Indeed, I think Ólafsson's album and music video, which rediscovered BWV528, was a noteworthy incident in the history of performance. In fact, since Ólafsson, performers around the world have continued to perform Ólafsson's interpretation of this piece.

Looking at this example, I think that BWV528 should also display the Stradal name.
This is because Stradal was the first to discover the sublime spirituality hidden in Bach's monotonous original. This credit belongs to Stradal.
If it were not for Strasel's work, there is a high possibility that Ólafsson's beautiful performance would not have existed.
So, I think it's okay to include Ólafsson in the name of the arranger, but I think it should be displayed without removing Stradal.
