Timmy and Lorraine go to church with my wife myself and our two sons where my brother preaches at. My youngest son was just born on October 2nd, 2022.. just two weeks ago. Timmy and Lorraine bought the baby a 4 pack wash cloth set, a pack of receiving blankets, and a 10 piece baby kit that has basically all the necessities a baby needs. Nail clippers, hair brush, rubber ducky, bottles, bottle brush, I could go on about what all they bought for him. My point is, these are very kind people who understand more things than what people think they do. We care alot about them and I just want to publicly say thank you to Timmy and Lorraine and the family for the gifts they bought is. Very sweet people, misunderstood but very great people who are very happy.
Something really stands out from the first video to now. They each have a spark in their eye they didn't have in the first video. They each have a smile now. I can't help but believe it is due to your friendship and kindness/generosity and of course those who donate to them has helped immensely as well. I think having a friend that randomly shows up as you do, gives them something to look forward to. Never knowing what sweet suprise you'll have or do next is so wonderful for them and from what I can tell they don't ever even expect anything. Putting food in their fridge and freezer has to have had a huge impact on their happiness/energy. Getting them out for a shopping trip, the doc for Ray. Mark you and your supporters have done so much for them, you are an incredible person ❤
I was low key terrified when Mark left he's sister alone in the kitchen. I get it they are "friends" but.. These peoples are mentally ill. They were laughing when one of raped the neighbours.. And all the other things. They reminded me of the Texas chainsaw killer family. AND! They have the same right to vote. They vote counts the same.

The Whittaker's seem to be happier than they were before and jovial. It looks like Ray knee is healed. Lorraine is speaking more audibly. Betty is looking happy. Even the dogs are excited and happy bcuz they are constantly barking. Their brother is visiting them and seemed more involved. Ray is so happy with his coffee ☕. Ray ADORES Mark. He was almost saying “sit here, sit here!” while he was patting the cushion trying to get Mark to sit by him. Then on the porch he tried to give Mark his pancake! So cute. Mark is the Whitakers’ guardian angel and patron saint :)
It melts my heart seeing Ray with a fresh cup of coffee, something he probably didn't have a lot of before Mark visited them the first time. It's a blessing that they crossed paths.
I think a lot of us started watching this out of sheer morbid curiosity, and I wasn't sure how I felt about Mark documenting all of this to begin with. But wow, having watched a few of these videos now you can really see how happy there are to have a familiar face over! The dogs look so well looked after (look at those waggy tails!) and you can tell how much they love eachother as a family, even in very few words. Ray is literally a ray of sunshine too - you can tell he understands just about everything and I actually feel like his social skills have improved since you guys came into their life! What started as morbid curiosity has turned into something that's actually very feel-good. These people can't help the cards they were dealt with in life, but seeing how they are with eachother is honestly so wholesome. I've seen 'normal' familes that have it all, that aren't anywhere near as happy and close as the Whittakers are. Also love how Timmy is always doing word searches and doing educational activities that he obviously enjoys. I think we can tall take something away from how the Whittakers live their lives. Absolutely love these guys and I hope for nothing but the best for them xxx
These are a very happy family. You can see that. The nasty remarks about Mark is totally uncalled for. I think his intentions are good. He has been so good to them, and you can see they care for him. If you think the dogs look well taken care of you have no idea what you're talking about because of the most recent video the dog has a Severe injury and has obviously not been taken to a vet in ueats

I'll admit, I was pretty disturbed discovering this family at first. Now, after watching all the videos, I have fallen in love with every single one of them. What beautiful souls. Betty seemed so happy to have conversation with another lady. That had to mean so much to her and for her to gift her hand grown squash was precious. I think she did cherish her conversation with Elle.
I love how nobody even questions their past. And how the neighbors made sure to keep an eye on them and keep them safe. It warms my hurt. Ray is adorable.

I was pleasantly shocked to see the progression that has been made. The home looks so much better and the smiles upon their faces definitely shows. I donate when I can as this is where I feel the money will be best spent.
I was actually thinking the same thing. Although one thing that kept coming to my mind was how they spent the money donated to them. Far too often today you hear of people (who have money donated for one reason or another) blowing through the money and squandering it on the dumbest things that dont help their situation at all. It's nice to see that the Whitakers spent the money on quality of life items that will help them for years to come.

I cried throughout this. I hate that someone hurt Lorraine like that n they don't know who it even was. I'd imagine the rapist took advantage of her being vulnerable. When Betty gave the squash I couldn't help but think wow they are still kind n generous n I guarantee if someone went there saying they had no food they would give them some without even thinking about it. It seems like you improved their quality of life. When you first showed up, Nobody wanted to be interviewed or come outside. Their parents’ fathers are twin brothers, which seems is the main reason of 16 sad lives…. lots of these siblings look alike, it won’t surprise u if nephew looks like uncle at all.
I love that they have come along way verbally since y’all started befriending them. They seem so much happier in their house now then they ever did before.

I have to admit I’m a little worried about Elle. I mean when one of the Whittaker‘s have to show you how to open up a can of biscuits because you’re over there trying to twist it to open it and then not even still knowing how to do it and you’re hitting the bottom of it like it’s a ketchup bottle for the biscuits to fall out really girl !! 😂. But..she was a good sport.
Whoever says money can't buy happiness has never been poor. The better this family's quality of life gets the happier they look, the more verbal they are, the cleaner their house is becoming, etc. despite their disabilities. This is a prime example of how poverty is a disease in itself. A little money, a little community, a little caring goes a long way in how people function. Each one of these people is doing better since the first video. Now they have hope and a sense of pride.
I know. As someone who lives in abject poverty, if I could make it to the poverty line it would change my life. As it is, I live at a 1/4 of what the poverty line is. Money can buy happiness. When you’re forever worrying about choosing between food and rent or your medication, life has very little to offer. Even the luxury of going out for a fancy hot chocolate is out of reach. There’s no treats, no new clothes; you know the humiliation of having to wear secondhand underwear? You should try it and see what it does to your spirit. I was told that I was lucky that I could get someone’s second hand underwear and bras. Fuck. You. That right there stole whatever humanity I had left. I knew that I was seen as nothing. The utter humiliation.

They live a life most of of us will never understand. I started out the series by being shocked and saddened. Each episode has been eye opening. Each episode I feel more and more of a bond with them. They live in kindness, peace and contentment. There are no cell phones, social media or outside noise. There aren't many of us in this world that will get to experience this simplicity. There are moments my heart aches for them but I think that is the last thing they would want. Thank you Whittakers for sharing your life with the world and thank you Mark for this amazing, raw footage.

These folks are decedents of the Scott's Irish who moved from Ulster to America in the late 17th. Century. I am Irish Scottish ie. My great grandfather and all before him were borne in Ireland, but my grandfather was born in Scotland as was. The customs o the Appellations people are not far removed to what mine are today. The house is looking so much better than the first video. Ray's knee seems to be feeling better too. It isnt much in this day and age anymore but back in the day especially in Appalachia, it's a huge act of service to prepare a meal for and serve someone. I hope the people that rip Mark apart also take the time to fully appreciate these interactions too.

I can't express the impact that this family has had on my life. To see them so content, happy and loving with so little changed me. All that they want is to be with each other. I never would have thought that. This is what life is all about. Miss Betty has done a great job.
Yes she is and she represents many many other women in that area of the country that do the exact same thing. Really some of the strongest and kindest people on earth. I spent a few summers in the area with grandparents and other relatives. It was such a good experience for a young person.
I grew up on Barn Road in Odd, right before the post office leading to where they live. My school bus went by their house every day, & they came to our church every now & then. They're kind hearted people, most definitely. I hate how people are often too quick to write them off as "undesirable" to say the least. I've heard people around here say awful, nasty things about them, but I'm always quick to defend the Whittakers. God bless them, always wishing them well.
Despite each of the Whitakers having different handicaps & unique personalities, Mark has lovingly & patiently shown us how to love our fellow man, no matter what their situation may be. Ray's eyes light up when Mark visits & I swear that I can almost understand every "word" he speaks. He seems so kind & I'm sure that in his own way, he is very happy & always has a big smile! The trip to Walmart made me laugh & cry. Thank you Mark, for allowing us to travel down this path with you. God Bless!

Timmy and Lorraine go to church with my wife myself and our two sons where my brother preaches at. My youngest son was just born on October 2nd, 2022.. just two weeks ago. Timmy and Lorraine bought the baby a 4 pack wash cloth set, a pack of receiving blankets, and a 10 piece baby kit that has basically all the necessities a baby needs. Nail clippers, hair brush, rubber ducky, bottles, bottle brush, I could go on about what all they bought for him. My point is, these are very kind people who understand more things than what people think they do. We care alot about them and I just want to publicly say thank you to Timmy and Lorraine and the family for the gifts they bought is. Very sweet people, misunderstood but very great people who are very happy.

In a world so messed up, it's nice to see basic loving people just living life.
Something really stands out from the first video to now. They each have a spark in their eye they didn't have in the first video. They each have a smile now. I can't help but believe it is due to your friendship and kindness/generosity and of course those who donate to them has helped immensely as well. I think having a friend that randomly shows up as you do, gives them something to look forward to. Never knowing what sweet suprise you'll have or do next is so wonderful for them and from what I can tell they don't ever even expect anything. Putting food in their fridge and freezer has to have had a huge impact on their happiness/energy. Getting them out for a shopping trip, the doc for Ray. Mark you and your supporters have done so much for them, you are an incredible person ❤

I think a lot of us started watching this out of sheer morbid curiosity, and I wasn't sure how I felt about Mark documenting all of this to begin with. But wow, having watched a few of these videos now you can really see how happy there are to have a familiar face over! The dogs look so well looked after (look at those waggy tails!) and you can tell how much they love eachother as a family, even in very few words. Ray is literally a ray of sunshine too - you can tell he understands just about everything and I actually feel like his social skills have improved since you guys came into their life! What started as morbid curiosity has turned into something that's actually very feel-good. These people can't help the cards they were dealt with in life, but seeing how they are with eachother is honestly so wholesome. I've seen 'normal' familes that have it all, that aren't anywhere near as happy and close as the Whittakers are. Also love how Timmy is always doing word searches and doing educational activities that he obviously enjoys. I think we can tall take something away from how the Whittakers live their lives. Absolutely love these guys and I hope for nothing but the best for them xxx

I think Lorraine (and Betty) really seemed to like having Elle visit with Mark! It broke my heart a little when no one seemed to understand what Lorraine was saying - it seemed pretty clear to me that she was telling Elle she looks like a Barbie!
The house is looking a lot better. I’m glad they are able to better their living situation through the generosity of Marks following! Totally amazing thing you are doing for this family Mark! It gives me joy to see that we still have good people in our society!
I am amazed at Betty's memory with birthdays and the families' health history. She knows everything about everyone in her care. She smiles no matter what😊 too.

Their parents’ fathers are twin brothers, which seems is the main reason of 16 sad lives…. lots of these siblings look alike, it won’t surprise u if nephew looks like uncle at all.
I love that they have come along way verbally since y’all started befriending them. They seem so much happier in their house now then they ever did before.
Gotta give some kudos to Elle too. She did her part as a champ. Cooked army sized breakfast, chit chatted with them on porch, played with doggos. She is such a nice heart as well. Bless you both for what you do. Not just the Whitakers but all the life stories we get to be a part of.

Whoever says money can't buy happiness has never been poor. The better this family's quality of life gets the happier they look, the more verbal they are, the cleaner their house is becoming, etc. despite their disabilities. This is a prime example of how poverty is a disease in itself. A little money, a little community, a little caring goes a long way in how people function. Each one of these people is doing better since the first video. Now they have hope and a sense of pride.
I know. As someone who lives in abject poverty, if I could make it to the poverty line it would change my life. As it is, I live at a 1/4 of what the poverty line is.
Money can buy happiness. When you’re forever worrying about choosing between food and rent or your medication, life has very little to offer. Even the luxury of going out for a fancy hot chocolate is out of reach. There’s no treats, no new clothes; you know the humiliation of having to wear secondhand underwear? You should try it and see what it does to your spirit. I was told that I was lucky that I could get someone’s second hand underwear and bras. Fuck. You. That right there stole whatever humanity I had left. I knew that I was seen as nothing. The utter humiliation.

Betty gifting Elle the home grown Squash for cooking them all breakfast, such a beautiful gesture. It warms my heart and reminds me of what really matters most in this life. I love being able to see how they are all going. Lovely to see Betty enjoying a meal cooked with love and kindness for her.
They live a life most of of us will never understand. I started out the series by being shocked and saddened. Each episode has been eye opening. Each episode I feel more and more of a bond with them. They live in kindness, peace and contentment. There are no cell phones, social media or outside noise. There aren't many of us in this world that will get to experience this simplicity. There are moments my heart aches for them but I think that is the last thing they would want. Thank you Whittakers for sharing your life with the world and thank you Mark for this amazing, raw footage.

That assistant is Mark's sister Kay.
These folks are decedents of the Scott's Irish who moved from Ulster to America in the late 17th. Century. I am Irish Scottish ie. My great grandfather and all before him were borne in Ireland, but my grandfather was born in Scotland as was. The customs o the Appellations people are not far removed to what mine are today. Just come across your videos and what a beautiful family who understand the meaning of unconditional love. Everybody deserves such a loving sister. I’m only 10 minutes in but isn’t it lovely to see all of them interacting with you, and Lorraine coming in and talking to Elle! You’ll have to bring her again. The house is looking so much better than the first video. Ray's knee seems to be feeling better too. It isnt much in this day and age anymore but back in the day especially in Appalachia, it's a huge act of service to prepare a meal for and serve someone. I can't express the impact that this family has had on my life. To see them so content, happy and loving with so little changed me. All that they want is to be with each other. I never would have thought that. This is what life is all about. Miss Betty has done a great job.

Yes she is and she represents many many other women in that area of the country that do the exact same thing. Really some of the strongest and kindest people on earth. I spent a few summers in the area with grandparents and other relatives. It was such a good experience for a young person.

I grew up on Barn Road in Odd, right before the post office leading to where they live. My school bus went by their house every day, & they came to our church every now & then. They're kind hearted people, most definitely. I hate how people are often too quick to write them off as "undesirable" to say the least. I've heard people around here say awful, nasty things about them, but I'm always quick to defend the Whittakers. God bless them, always wishing them well.

Despite each of the Whitakers having different handicaps & unique personalities, Mark has lovingly & patiently shown us how to love our fellow man, no matter what their situation may be.
Ray's eyes light up when Mark visits & I swear that I can almost understand every "word" he speaks. He seems so kind & I'm sure that in his own way, he is very happy & always has a big smile! The trip to Walmart made me laugh & cry.
