- For a challenge, I tried surviving in a Death World in Factorio for as long as I possibly could. Different type of survival story video for this time, and a bit more introspective.

~Sea block next?~
Tried a new story format for this one - I might make this a regular segment or change it up a bit depending.
That would be a good idea hope to see that soon

I'd say, lazy bastard deathworld next 😏...
seablock sounds lovely
This sounds more like a philosophical essay on factorio or the diary of an adventurer than a regular youtube gameplay video. Only the british accent missing to be eligible for the bbc
You can feel Amphibian's IQ multiplying just from the way he's switched up his narrative style
It’s evolving just like the biters
Exponential growth
The ssethication is what bump up his view. Good for him.

@@deutschamerikaner Oh yeah I love Robby Cruise
Play with the Rampant mod, it makes deathworlds look like a walk in the park by comparison.
The bugs actively probe your defences, hunt the player, and are generally nightmarish. Perfect for a vid
does rampant work with mod that allows for higher tiers of bugs?
because that would be great for video series
Thanks - I'll give it a try!
THISSSSSSS.
@@deathpick2 Rampant also provides its own 10 tiers of biter strength, but its modded biter AI can also use any biters other mods add.
I'd also recommend Rampant Evolution for a different evolution curve so you have a chance to recover if things go terribly wrong and your evolution rating overwhelms you
And for a more !!FUN!! experience, add Swarmageddon, BIter Reincarnation, and I Speak For The Trees :)
The wholesome philosophy on this one was dialed up to 11 and I love it.
Your smooth buttery voice is all I need.

Amphibian out here trying to make me question my fucking marriage and life choices because of a Factorio video. This is the quality content I crave.
If a video aboit Factoria makes you question your marriage, it feels like there might be some deeper issues

Dude, repress that shit. That's why we play video games.
How does someone make a let's play video feel like an epic story? That was fantastic
And to feel like you learned somthing from a video game lets play. Truly a content craftsman.
Dwarf fortress has this effect of bringing the storyteller out of the players
Rob (AA) is a genius in materlizing art, each of his videos is an Epic that will make people in the past, present and future flabbergasted. His art reach the bottom well of all kin.
Trully a genius that only can be overshadowed by himself in each new videos.
By reminding the viewers that their early childhood mistakes predetermined their miserable present and condemned to pitiful old age, while escalating the language from mere spoken one to a more high style, literary, even poetic version of it.
@@az8560 Ah, thank you. everyone else thought this was a rhetorical question, finally I have an answer
This video is different in a way. So calm. So analytical. Detached and at the same time involved.
This approach combined with great music and existential commentary as a result yields a great, entertaining video. And makes viewer feel as if he watched something deep or spent some time reflecting about his own life.
Thank you. I personally liked this video greatly. Have a good day our beloved narrator. And have a good day people from comment section.
This.
yea this one was special
Yea this one was like poetry
Cringe
I agree with you!
I love the 2 methods of story telling that are going on in this video.
On one side you have your narration ever present with a mostly monotone description of events, strategies, and other such stories.
Then there's the camera in a quiet yet extremely emotional and energetic method of storytelling as the living embodiment of "show, don't tell".
Those last two beeps at the very end brought me to tears. It reminded me that what has been lost is not a loss, nor do they cease to exist. Instead, they are sacrafices that motivate and empower us to grow, so that we may feel sorrow today and grow stronger tomorrow, and in the place of what we lost, we rebuild stronger in an attempt to avoid the inescapable. But without losing, we will grow weak as without loss, we cannot feel and we cannot learn. I work each day to avoid hearing these beeps, but through existance, I will hear these beeps again.
This video was a masterpiece. From the music to the narration of the experience, I felt like I was listening to the journal of a ranking military officer. Kudos to you.
New AA Vid? FACTORIO?! *DEATH WORLD FACTORIO?!*
Best thing to come home to after the jubilant meows of my cat.
Watching this video feels like eating a really good hamburger. Great storytelling, amazing voice, perfectly seasoned with the not-so-fancy-but-cozy-ambience.
Smashing
Indeed
Remind me not to visit your restaurant. I don't care how good a storyteller it is, I don't want a hamburger with a voice.
And i just started playing factorio, i have new nightmares now..
@albert einstien alright einstein, i'd like to see you pull that off in four and a half hours on a death world
I have the distinct feeling that this guy is going to go far as a youtuber. See you at one million, boys.
His content is incredible, so I see his channel growing in one of two ways. He could just keep steadily growing as he has, and I could see him getting a million subs in a few years. Or, a few of his videos may end up really meshing well with the algorithm, in which case many people will see him and he'll blow up.
Hey buddy :)

AA, you’re gonna be a superstar dude, your work is amazing, thanks for all the entertainment!
this video is a straight masterpiece
the music is quiet enough it's not in the way of the speaking
the editing is fantastic, fast paced enough to not be boring but slow enough to see the slow progression that is factorio
the game sounds are familiar but not intrusive
it's ALL SO DAMN GOOD.
Great commentary/story coupled with subtle audio back track and fantastic editing. Superb!
Thanks a ton!
even tho i never played deathworld i might have a few tips; don't be afraid to mass produce burner drills at the start just to get enough resources for electrical items, in deathworld it's more about speed than about minimizing the amount of pollution or waste at the start. Before putting down anything, I recommend planning out on the map (maybe with markers) where you are going to put stuff such as the smelters, main bus etc., since biters wont attack you at the start of the game, only after you start producing pollution. Blueprints are a BIG friend in this case, and getting a small automated red research up and running ASAP is the best thing you can do (3 assemblers and 1 lab around an electric pole is enough). Also after you passed the initial stage of getting to electrical stuff efficiency is your new goal, and getting to know all the basic ratios (circuits, red science) is VERY useful as not to waste time.
Anyways, good luck with your next playthrough! hope you make it further...
The stories you choose to weave from what comes out of your games...they're the reason I keep coming back. Well done, again.
For most players, everything you say here is true.
And then there's the people who have grey goo blueprint factories, that self-expend, self-defend, and grow near endlessly.
It's a wonder to behold. Once.
Man. You think you got AAs content figured out, and then BAM! Totally new style of video. Nice AA
Thanks! More to come!
Inspired content and inspiring! Thanks aa
"A lone Tech Priest uses the power of technology and the shit tons of guns he builds to fight off discount Tyranids to turn a Death World into a Forge World with angry wildlife."
I love that you aren't afraid to mix up the style and theme of your vids. Really keeps it fresh and makes me always excited for what I'm going to get when a new vid drops.
I never thought I would see an entire playthrough in 16 minutes and love every second. I can't wait for the next one.
Ah yes, my daily scripture reading.
I’d love a long play of this
I never realised heath bars in factorio are identical to starcraft health bars, brings a tear to my eye.
Bolero playing in the background is absolutely perfect.
excellent use of Ravel's Bolero! i'm sure he had this entire situation in mind when he wrote it!
ravel's bolero was a good choice of music it fits in well with the growing chaos
"i need to expand eastward" proceeds to go west
I love that ambiguous amphibian is literally into the same exact type of games I’m into and watching his content makes me want to play such games and enjoy them more than I already do
I remember first watching you back when you started Rimworld, I'm glad you've gotten such a following and haven't fallen into the quantity over quality pit.
this is going to be an enthralling series i predict
Your style of video making and production is awesome dude. You can make mundane, long winded games feel like epic story chapters where theres very little to work with. Id love to see more factorio as I not only enjoy seeing one of my favourite games played but you have such a genuine "entertainer" factor to how you approach your content. Its delicously refreshing.
Ambiguousamphibian makes such interesting and alternative type of videos that are such a nice break from the mainstream stuff I watch
His videos not only give me the satisfaction of watching letsplays of games I find really cool, his narrations give such food for thought and I love it
Keep up the good work AA, love the vids
Intro music bops tho, ngl
Ah good, the voice in my head has uploaded again :D And I got here just in time to be 40 minutes late.
I never knew Factorio could be so philosophical.
the vibe of this video. The music, the retrospective narration, the philosophy. I love you man.
lol these sounds at the end are so subtle i instantly tried to check were im attacked and im not even playing it right now.. its haunting
Damn AA. There was so much life advice in your video it fills up with more gratitude. Thank you always for the high quality videos that are both entertaining and inspiring. Truly you're the one in a million that makes things so special.
Reasons to like this video in particular:
1: music
2: amphibious
3: challenge and genuine hard gameplay
Videos like these are why I keep coming back, the philosophical way you talk about games, along with humor and genuine passion is so refreshing. Keep it up!
bolero fits this game so well lol
Good video; like the mix of philosophy with the gameplay
I LOVE!! This new format! Well planed, still unique to your style, but much less chaotic, and much more planned and aesthetic
Absolutely love the experimentation in your video structures and narrative style! I don't know if I've ever seen a channel so willing to switch up the formula so often and keep the high quality that all your content has.
Here's a tip: fish will render you virtually immortal.
He's back with the musical opening.
Ok, everybody stay calm! (Stays calm and happy)
This was honestly the best quality piece of art that I felt emotion again. Thank you good sir keep it up!
Love the video!
One thing I always do with the ammunition delivery circle line: I use splitters to add a (small) piece of belt for each turret, to increase the reserve for the turret. It does take longer for the belt to fill up, but it drastically increases the time before a turret runs out of ammo
Oh-hoh-hoh... Three minutes ago? Yes please... :)
Love the video. But the video feels a bit choppy with the editing, was messing with my eyes a bit.

This was one of the best videos I've seen, you are truly an amazing creator. The paralel between the game and real life, the mastery of the rules of the game and it's mechanics, the writing and storytelling... Truly an entertaining and thoughtfull piece of content. Thank you for keeping up and improving upon the quality of what you do, you're awesome!
I think your video and description of this game is spot on. Everything you said is so true. Its the most frustrating game you can play and yet when you get it right, aw man the satisfaction.
I think you should play The Long Dark and splice it together with lines by Jack London and Hemingway.
you should put a trigger warning for that two alarm sound at the end of the video
well done great video, i love the narrative and the progression, its less about the game and more about your experience and that is refreshing to say the least. great job
I have a challenge for you: Start with a single Assembler, a logic chest, and a roboport with drones. You are not allowed to use handcrafting or belts/inserters :)
Oh I am so hype to watch ambiguous play more of this challenge!
This has to be the best showcase I’ve ever seen for one of my favourite games of all time!!! I’ve done hundreds of hours of Factorio content and this summarizes it all sooo well!
Love the work , always fun when playing with mates I end up being the defense builder and have slowly perfected the building chock walls and having it set to automate both ammo and ammo upgrades
I love the new format, looking forward to seeing more challenges in this thoughtful way
Drifting off to sleep, I heard a sound and it scared me out of my mind so I needed to calm down, and saw you had a video up. Thank you for calming me down.
Really like the style of this one, and looking forward to your future tries!
Also, thank you for reintroducing me to OKAY by 13ounce, heard it a while back and forgot about it. What a bop.
This was tremendous. So many different delights to behold! Not least of all, the music. The subtle and haunting alert tones at the tail end of the video were not missed, and were appreciated.
You really kneaded Factorio into a great allegory for modern life, and I salute and relish this.
I really liked this sort of video essay format you decided to go with, very interesting to hear the more introspective side of you.
I just love how I listen and understand only half of what he was saying but at the same time I feel like I've become a better person.
I was not prepared to get this much existential dread from a factorio video. Well done!
The comentry is what got me hooked on your survival series like the kenshi ones and the zomboid games keep up your good work sir
Oh my god! A sounds effect? Ground breaking! Marvelous!
I enjoyed this one a lot! Great episode! Light philosophical shitposting, chill music and phasing, engaging story ark with added life lessons... Just awesome! Must have been ton of work to get it all together. Thanks!
This was one of your best to date so far! Really looking forward to your next attempt! :)
Really liking the editing in this video, good stuff dude👍🏼
The way you presented us this very riveting adventure, not in a game, not in a alien world, but in the depths and misteries of discovering how playing a game can affect your life, your relationships and even yourself in your core, kept me listening and watching until the very final second of it and also made me want to subscribe and watch every single video of your channel. I didn't know this much before watching your video, but now I can say I miss this storytelling feature in every video I have ever watched. Keep up the good work and keep making your viewers more clever than before. We have all to thank you for that. Ps: Ravel's Bolero was a perfect choice for a soundtrack.
EASILY one of my favorite videos by you, love the animation and pacing, not to mention background music
I've never had more fun watching a Factorio video. Thanks. I can't wait for more.
I love all the content you push you. But video's like this, thats why I love you so much
Interesting way to present
I like the retroperspective style where you explain looking back what you were doing
Choice of background music makes this 100 times better and complement the theme of video so well
With each video, I understand more and complicated ideas I did not invision. Grateful for the video Amphibian.
Deathworlds are great! I have a couple suggestions which may help you next time, first you should be setting up more automation of factory components early on, even if it's only a single assembler making belts and assemblers just load them into a chest for later having them available makes rapid expansion to exploit any new space much faster. You need to beeline towards flamethrower turrets, they are the best turrets when dealing with Deathworld waves, since they out range Spitters and Worms. This is also critical for clearing bases, since Deathworld bases tend to have way more big worms, which can instagib you if you try to place gun turrets inside their huge attack range.
You need to set up piercing ammo production as soon as you possibly can since big biters are essentially immune to basic firearm magazines in turrets and the medium biters have resistance on top of additional health. Adding a forward wall or "Dragon teeth" set at 1-2 squares inside the range of the turrets behind your main wall helps with Spitters, since they end up running into the first wall and attacking it instead of your turrets initially if their range is less than your turrets. This works better with flame and laser turrets with their long range but automating laser turrets takes more resources and time than flame turrets.
Your commentary pacing, music and overall gameplay came to a point of spectacularity. Very well done amphibious ambiguine.
Even when I'm burned out on a game you come along and reignite my enjoyment of it!
I really like this deathworld factorio I hope it becomes a series and I look forward to seeing you conquer it!
Your wit always keeps me coming back.
Death World is a fun experience, I generally play with a slightly beefed up Death World, it's always a never ending arms race.
Great video as usual, can't wait for what is next regarding Factorio.
Loving the new editing style. Keep up the great work!
This is the best thing about Factorio, learning from your experiences and playing different next time! Great video!
I liked this video surprisingly more than I expected. Really nice edits and fun to watch unfold! And of course, on point game philosophy.
In case you didn't know yet, using pillars past the second layer of wall is more effective in slowing the bitters down, instead of just building thicker walls. It makes the bitters spread out and gives your turrets more time to kill them.
I really, really love this new format/style/video thing man!
You found the one piece of music that can pull my attention away from your wonderful narration. And thank you for letting Bolero play all the way through. It made your journey all the more transportive.
The narration in this video is fantastic. I can't wait to see more factorio!
I love Factorio Death Worlds! This should be a fun series.
