How come you didn't review how it opens from sleep mode. You have to basically POUND on the phone to get it to open. You can no longer push the home button or swipe it to open it. They offer a double tap to open and close but 2/3 of the time it won't open. Turning on the open when picked up mode works half of the time too...

This looks like a really great phone! But remember not long ago you can get everything on a flagship phone such as headphone jack, expandable storage, ir blaster, removable battery, included headphones and charger for a lot less. What happened??

Only compromise I find acceptable is the "easily replaceable battery" in exchange for a more solid build. It sounds like phone repair shops can still replace batteries. It just takes an expert.
@@spacexplorer_ Correct. If people held onto their older phones from two years ago, it would have "forced" keeping the headphone jack and etc. People, writ large, decided that these features weren't *that* important, unfortunately.

Rewind to 2012 when I was super excited for the Note 2 launch and Gsmarena was the only authentic webpage, and would wait for their review to come reviewing every aspect category wise. Well time has flown and here I am nitpicking every aspect of the phone before pre ordering s21 ultra as if it would even matter in practical usage. Miss those simpler real life reviews that matters. And as always GSMARENA keeps it simple and real..
I ordered mine yesterday and it should be here Friday fingers crossed. I was worried about watching any reviews incase I'd made a massive mistake. Thanks to your review I can relax and just looks forward to getting my hands on it.

I have the S10 Plus currently. Same 6.8" screen and lighter, not as heavy as this 220gram Ultra beast. I highly recommend the S10 Plus. Best phone I've ever had, not even close.

I got my s21 ultra on the 25th of Jan. Pre order deliveries began for us here in India. You are spot on with the image processing issues. I'm noticing extreme oversharpening in the images coming out of this camera. The selfies are even worse. I can't believe how this happening. I'm coming from the s20 ultra and I'm surprised how Samsung has managed to make the camera even worse. I know it's very early and there might be updates, but we've seen what updates really bring. It's Samsung! I don't have much hope. The s20 ultra remained a bad camera throughout last year.
You're the only channel that has brought up the image processing issues. Kudos! Nobody else is doing this. All reviews are raving about the camera on this. My iPhone 11 pro max takes better photos with more consistent image processing.
For those who care- try taking photos of plants, leaves, tree barks and zoom into them. Notice how there is a water color painting like effect. Photos of half-shade half-sunlit areas expose poor processing even further. There is weird grain, oversharpening and just plain horrible artifacts.
How to tune display to great accuracy for s21 ultra ?

Hi Declan here in Ireland best wishes and love your comments on phones have a quick question am looking at buying Samsung s21ultra 512gb the two questions I have is the phone ram at 16gb ram or is at a lower ram and the most important question I have is that I am on the 4g network on Vodafone in Ireland and knowing the Samsung s21ultra is a 5g phone can the settings be changed on the phone so that it is connected over to 4g network connectivity constantly at band width 20/800 would be great if you know this info cheers and have a great day 🤟🤟🙋🙋

For me as a Samsung user, the removal of the microSD card (which is still the best way to use SmartSwitch back up rather than their PC/Mac counterpart) slot and the removal of wall adapter is basically the most hypocrite and lowest blow Samsung had ever been so far. And although the intention in adding S-Pen functionalities is good on their newest flagship the implementation sounds very wrong from the very beginning. Cuz apart from that's what made Note series special that's by far a very redundant thing to do. And although S21 Ultra is very good compare to Note20 Ultra (atleast here in the Philippines where they sell 2 Note20 Ultra; a 5G with 12GB RAM, which is carrier exclusive & a non-5G with an inferior 8GB RAM inferior than its predecessor Note10+, which is still my phone at the time of this comment) the omissions Samsung did to their latest flagship is a tough and bitter pill to swallow for most of us and asking to pay $1400 (local price of an unlocked S21 Ultra 256GB here in the Philippines) is just another insult to the injury Samsung has made when they did drastic changes on the way they sell their phone. For now I'm staying with my Note10+ until it essentially stops getting any major Android updates which is likely by end of 2022. I'll give S21 Ultra a PASS for now.
So happy someone else is upset at the loss of sd card slots too.

Hey guys, I'm one of those poor people that buy quality phones new, after they've been out for a year or two. I m looking at the the s21 , but I'm a front facing stereo speakers guy. What do y'all think of the s21 vs the Xperia 1 mark 2 or 3? For speaker performance? They both have great screens, great cameras and other great features, but it's loud good, unmuffled speakers i want. I'm a Pixel 3xl user now. Thanks 👍

Shit, I hope they bring back the MicroSD card slot. I like having the extra space for downloads for offline use when I'm outdoors.
Get a USB stick, you really don't need the MicroSD slot
@ConcreteComa Many people don't use the USB slot, that's why they took it away...
@ConcreteComa Not cost cutting, external storage isn't as fast. Some people were putting in cheap cards and were degrading performance of the phone.

The two holes above the camera (upper left edge) are those speakers or mics? I accidentally pushed a sim card ejector, mic works, speakers work but I still get annoyed this happened, what are these holes mate?

You have to buy one....
Skip the Exynos 2100 and SD888 this year. Improvements are not that significant while they still overheat and throttle. SD865 is still yummy and great.

I heard that if you're not getting the ultra you should just get a last gen S20 since the bulk of it is new chip, slightly better camera. I know you want his opinion but if you want to consider this then you can lol.

Good thing that the exynos variant is great this year. Unless the regular Iphone 13 or Pixel 6 do something amazing, this'll be my new phone at the end of the year when it's selling for 60% of the price.
Never buy Android flagships at full price because a year later they'll be worth half that used. I almost bought a find x2 pro last year. That was a $1600 AUD phone and these days it's $840 refurbished in near new condition.
Do Not Disturb for calendar events?
Apparently Samsung doesn't license this critical feature, and access to the background timer has been changed, so you cannot install a third-party app to enable this feature.
Background: If you schedule a 2-hr meeting in Google Calendar, 0900-1100, it appears as "busy" and the option to enable Do Not Disturb would keep your phone quiet, automatically. Now this is no longer possible; it must be done manually. Really?!

Similar issues with my phone, along with battery drain. It however settled down on its own in about a week's time. No heating or battery issues now.

@@bluekirbyrocks it doesn't have a flagship soc, doesn't have a qhd 120hz screen. So it's only natural that it would last as long. For a flagship, it was impressive, specially compared to the S20 Ultra.

Real life usage is very different for everyone.

I bought my Galaxy S8 brand new with 64 GB in it and 14.8 GB in sd card .the camera has always sucked,I love the size,the speed,the screen resolution ,I love the jack cause I love using big headphones , it's still running strong but reaching the end in internal storage so I will be upgrading to the S21 ultra with 512 GB I cannot even imagine how many pics,music,apps, movies I would use to fill that up, it's like a dream for me I'm very excited and can't wait ....along with a smartwatch 3 I can say this is sweet .
