Good organizations let their franchise players close out their careers in one place if that’s what they want. Crosby has given them 3 cups he deserves to be a Penguin for life or explore his options. Strikes me as a guy that is very loyal to Pittsburgh though so that’s where he should stay. They 100% should be trying to get younger and deal everyone else but their core 3 and anchor Karlsson.
In a interview with Sportsnet, this is what Sidney Crosby had to say about how much longer he’ll play: ‘I’m thinking about three more years and then seeing what happens from there’ that was said in September 2022, it’s been two years already so after next season; he really could be retiring. So maybe not even two more seasons. Next season could very well be the last season we see Crosby in the NHL
He will never take a trade having to just finish this season and next season. My guess is he will retire because he knows the Pens are many years away from being a really good team. I am sure he could play longer if he wanted and STILL be one of the best players in the NHL. However, he has nothing to prove. Time to take a couple of years off, enjoy the money, get away from hockey and sit back, relax and then decide what he wants to do.
I doubt he retires playing at the level he’s at right now. I can’t see next season being his last unless he takes a significant step back and the Pens fall even further. Even then, I don’t think he’d leave without Malkin and Letang, who each have a decent amount of term left and should be able to play for the next few years.
@@michaelpostsstuff9958 Malkin and Letang are pretty much done now. Edmonton proved that by running circles around them. Then there’s the time they combined for an empty net own goal. They could still play a role on a contender but both on the same team is a liability.

They do not have the time for a retool to take even 2 years. They need to be competitive next year and I dont see it happening. I dont see it happening in 2 years either.
I think the biggest kick in the shin was when Hextall extended Malkin and Letang for really long term for their age. Geno especially has been borderline invisible for a hot minute. Karlsson has been average Karlsson at worst and Eller has been their best bottom 6 forward. All the other oldies seem on their way out besides Sid.
Ray Bourque, a forever Bruin, got traded at the end of his career to play for a contender. While unlikely, I still think there is a small chance he could move if Pittsburgh goes full rebuild mode at some point.
But did the woman at 0:12 get her selfie?? I doubt Sid is leaving Pittsburg even if they're bad he's won his cups I don't think he's worried about more
I can see a Crosby trade this summer to the Montreal Canadiens. Kent Hugues said he wanted to do big moves, that could be it. The price will be high and most likely not worth it BUT the younger players would probably learn faster with a presence like Crosby around them. I know Crosby loves Pittsburgh but it's like real love, you've gotta learn to let them go if you truly love them. Leave them a legacy, a big return after you leave. Doesn't mean he hates Pittsburgh but that he wants them to do well after he retires. Gotta look at the big picture.
I don't think he will leave. He loves Pittsburgh too much and I think he wants to follow in Mario's footsteps. But that said if he were to go anywhere, his list would be short and it would only be for a cup opportunity. To me that leaves only Colorado, Edmonton or if the Habs somehow make a miraculous step soon he may go there since it was his team growing up.
Since Kyle DubASS has came to Pittsburgh, we have not made the playoffs. Karlson needs to go. Graves needs to go, Guentzel has to stay if we actually get a shot at the playoffs
As an Avs fan, obviously it would be awesome to get Crosby but I'm in agreement that this scenario is pretty unlikely to happen. Maybe they could trade him but then try and bring him back to Pitt after his current contract ends
not sure what Dubas would achieve traditionally retooling doesnt work so to me the best option would be to rebuild I mean Vancouver tried that since 2013 and it didn't get them anywhere until recently.

I think realistically, if they just offload Malkin and get a decent replacement, they'd have a much easier time consistently winning. They keep trying to find guys that can play on his line, but the problem seems to be him. Every so often, he goes on a great run, but we need someone who is always reliably good, instead of someone who's great occasionally and below average the rest of the time. He just doesn't play with any intensity, makes stupid passes, and takes his sweet time back-checking. Letang is starting to be that way too(he wasn't in a good position for 3/4 of Calgary's goals), but if the offense helped out more, I believe he'd pick it up.
Remember many years back when Chicago refused to move on from Kane, Toews, Keith when it was clear the team was done for? Yeah, Crosby, Malkin, Letang average about the same age as Kane, Toews, Keith are RIGHT NOW.

Pittsburgh's ownership actually has a good situation. They don't have to worry about selling tickets or another financial crisis because Crosby/Malkin will be a draw for another few years (and you can add Karlsson and to a lesser extent Letang to that list as well). Make money off the jerseys and season tickets for the sunset of the generational talent's careers and then, by the time those players retire, hopefully you will have a more stocked cupboard that can make more of a splash.
Have you been watching their home games at all? The arena is already half empty. You can get nosebleeds for $30 and those aren't even selling out. I don't think he'll leave. He's accomplished everything you could ever hope to at this point. 0 doubt in anyone's minds that he is still an excellent competitor but after all of those accomplishments I'm not surprised he doesn't want to uproot his life and move to a new city after spending his entire career, and adult life, with the pens.
Canucks, Edmonton, Winnipeg or Toronto. Any of them would be awesome. Heck, Calgary may even squeak into the Play Offs now that they’ve traded away their problems.
Already had an amazing career, won multiple cups, individual awards. Yeah it sucks he isn't making the playoffs but I like the idea of him retiring with Pittsburgh.
I can think of an Iginla-like scenario If Sid is on a 60ish points pace next season, he might be talked into getting traded to a contender And in the summer will sign another 1-2 year deal with the Pens
They need a Neal for Hornqvist type trade with Guentzel. I don’t know how many of the buyers would be into that but pens are stale and need different types of players. A new identity. They are too old to run and gun like 2015-2017. Unfortunately their coach and their core don’t realize that.
Dubas knew that they should punt on this team the day he took the job. But he’s just holding his end of the “keep the band together” stipulation when he was hired. I’ve watched the last three penguins games and they were truly hard to watch. Edmonton humbling them was the cherry on top.
Crosby is not going anywhere, unless he wants to. PIT will try to extend him, if he wants to continue playing. As they did with Malkin and Letang. They were stupid (or desperate) enough to take on Karlson, so they have cap issues. If Crosby wants to play for another team, maybe for the Habs, we will go there. But it`s likely the Pens pay him for his season, as he is only getting paid 3m this year. He might sign a contract extension after July 1st.
keep the team the way it is right now, injuries have not helped this season but its no excuse... what needs to happen NOW is preparing for 2-3 years from now when our core is gone and retired, trading the likes of malkin or letang etc is what everyone always jumps too when we are doing not well... but when they are firing on all cylinders everyone is like never trade anyone !!! even though thats when we should trade them as we would get the most value for the trade... trading off a slumping player never helps in the long run
The only thing stupider than trading Guentzel would be trading Crosby, and I don't think Sid would ask to go. That man is loyal down to his bones. They're better off trading off Jarry (or Ned, but preferably Jarry) to a team desperate for playoff goaltending and moving some of the other pieces like Rakell or Accari for younger prospects and do the Dallas thing rather than a full tear-down/rebuild. A rebuild isn't going to pay off before Sid's done, and he means too much to the city and the team to let his final seasons be a bust. If I'm Kyle Dubas, it's a fire sale on goalies and wingers not named Jake to teams who need depth in exchange for some good kids with experience in the AHL--no one over the age of 26--and hit the ground running next year.
Sid is fine. Malkin is okay, but he does look hurt to me. It's the kids not following the example set by the old men. Now, I am a lifelong Habs fan and Crosby has some kids there he can teach, and there is a home connection. I think despite that I think Crosby and Nate are actually freinds. Just imagine what he could do with Nick, Cole and Slaffy? It's a SICK idea.
I don't see sid trade happening and feels like if it did it wouldn't be Colorado because sid in my opinion would be second liner in there. I see how great their powerplay would be with makar, rantanen, mackinnon and crosby + best fitting winger but there just isn't place for him without putting mackinnon to a wing which wastes his talents
Crosby did the pens a favour by signing team friendly contracts his whole career. I'm sure the pens could trade him to a contender and when his contract is up he can sign back with the pens as a UFA to end his career.... I don't see the problem there at all. He will still be considered a lifer Imo.. Look at when plekanec went to Toronto for a playoff push and came back. Different caliber player but he is still considered a hab lifer to me and many others
The Pens got bad contracts for years. They got slower and slower, less and less athletic and agile in a league that got faster and faster, more athletic and more mobile than ever. The shiny genius pieces from 8 years ago are not cutting it anymore (Malkin, Letang, Karlsson - all three contracts eat up 25% of your salary cap). What boggles the mind is that Dubas thought making the team even a bit slower would somehow help them... Does anyone understand why they got Karlsson relatively cheap? Because 31 other teams didn't want to pay as much for him
Jarry is 2 seasons off of having a Vezina finalist season and he’s only costing the team 5.3mil…. Compared to the Bob or Helle contracts of 8.5+. If Guentzel goes and wins a cup and then re-signs, the Pens look shaped to retool with $12mil in cap space and contend… if not, I wouldn’t be opposed to sending Syd to win a cup with an Edmonton to cement himself as the Canadian GOAT if the pens get a HUAL to compete in 2026 and beyond
i bleed black and gold and love Crosby. If he would be happier going to a winning team i dont blame him and will root for him win with all my heart. He owes the penguins nothing and should have his jersey in the rafters the day he hangs up his skates.
I can't see Crosby moving away from Pittsburgh because of his long term mentor relationship with Lemieux. I would love to see him play at Detroit though. They always do a fantastic job of utilising veteran players
If Crosby moved to a different team, the only team I could see him moving to would be the Montréal Canadiens because that was the team he grew up cheering for.
The fact he played in Quebec in the Q, he already has a lot of fans there. The habs nation would love it! Edmonton should pull the Vegas LTIR move and get him running with Mcdavid on special teams!
Crosby is great, but the penguins need to see the future, maybe crosby plays into his 40s, maybe. At some point he is going to degrade or retire, and the penguins are not prepping for a team without crosby, and that could kill that team for years if they don't start soon.

He's accomplished everything you could ever hope to at this point. 0 doubt in anyone's minds that he is still an excellent competitor but after all of those accomplishments I'm not surprised he doesn't want to uproot his life and move to a new city after spending his entire career, and adult life, with the pens.
As an avs fan, i'd LOVE to see Crosby in uniform. But we all know that he's a penguin in his heart.
The only thing I might like seeing Crosby do is possibly trying to win the cup with a Canadian team.
Canucks, Edmonton, Winnipeg or Toronto. Any of them would be awesome. Heck, Calgary may even squeak into the Play Offs now that they’ve traded away their problems.
Funny how you say Roope Hintz and put a picture of Denis Gurianov in there....
Already had an amazing career, won multiple cups, individual awards. Yeah it sucks he isn't making the playoffs but I like the idea of him retiring with Pittsburgh.
He should come home to Montreal! Vive Les habitants! 🇨🇦
I can think of an Iginla-like scenario
If Sid is on a 60ish points pace next season, he might be talked into getting traded to a contender
And in the summer will sign another 1-2 year deal with the Pens
The second Dubas comes in, everything goes to shit. Lol.
Sid in a Avs sweater would be sick!!
I love ur vids man
Crosby is not going anywhere, unless he wants to.
Is Crosby getting the Brendan schaub talk ??
i dont see hughes acquiring crosby, id love to see it but i just dont think its in his game plan
keep the team the way it is right now, injuries have not helped this season but its no excuse... what needs to happen NOW is preparing for 2-3 years from now when our core is gone and retired, trading the likes of malkin or letang etc is what everyone always jumps too when we are doing not well... but when they are firing on all cylinders everyone is like never trade anyone !!! even though thats when we should trade them as we would get the most value for the trade... trading off a slumping player never helps in the long run
Sid in Colorado? Let’s get er done Kyle. He deserves to win as He’s one of the greatest players to play.
Crosby to Vancouver for future considerations, full salary retention. Calling it now!!
Montreal has picks to give!
Honestly I say they trade everyone that fetches anything good except for Crosby but that’s just me, I know how much those players mean to the city
Crosby to Edmonton
the oilers don't need anymore star power. What they need is grit, depth, goaltending and defense
When did Roope Hintz become Denis Gurianov?! The disrespect to Hintz hahahah omg wrong pic buddy!
I understand, but the worst thing a G.M. can be is sentimental. Crosby would fetch a boatload.
Would love to see Crosby play with the Oilers with McDavid, Draisaitl, Hyman and the rest of the team together. 😍😍
As a massive pens fan, I think they owe to Sid to let him have a great shoot at another cup. They won’t make it again, send him to avs or knights.
Sid has won everything. Multiple times. He's good. He's not going anywhere if he has anything to say about it.
i bleed black and gold and love Crosby.
Sharks truly winning the Karlsson Trade lol
And they only had to tank their team getting him in the first place
Crosby to Avs‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️🔥🔥🔥🔥‼️🔥🔜🔜🔜‼️🔥‼️‼️🔥‼️😈
If Crosby moved to a different team, the only team I could see him moving to would be the Montréal Canadiens because that was the team he grew up cheering for.
The fact he played in Quebec in the Q, he already has a lot of fans there. The habs nation would love it! Edmonton should pull the Vegas LTIR move and get him running with Mcdavid on special teams!
could you imagine Drai being winger to a 2C crosby?
Dubas handicapped them by getting Karlsson. There was no need with Letang there. It's only diminished both players and left them with little options
It won't happen, but Crosby going to my 2nd favorite team, The Canes, honestly wouldn't even make me sad he left Pittsburgh. Both are home teams to me
I know it's not going to happen, but I would love to see Crosby go to the Colorado Scotia-lanche!
Can't believe someone would take the time to shop Sid in an Avs uni and yet use an old picture of jerseys Colorado hasn't worn in at least three years
And with a right-handed stick
Crosby is great, but the penguins need to see the future, maybe crosby plays into his 40s, maybe. At some point he is going to degrade or retire, and the penguins are not prepping for a team without crosby, and that could kill that team for years if they don't start soon.
Both age 36:
Crosby points per game 1.07
Selänne points per game 1.14
