Tbf, in every MR game after MR3 the monsters also only “retire” when they get old. They only died in DX because it was a fairly straightforward remaster/port of 1 & 2. The last one to do it, MR3, got kinda morbid with it. It lacked a combination/fusion system and instead replaced it with “Monster Hearts.” You basically feed the hearts of your dead monsters to a new one, giving it some of the stats/moves of the dead one. Though, this is also the one with the most cutsey, cel shaded graphics…
As an Ultraman Fan, I find It hilarious that you named Bemstar, A kaiju that got like actually dismembered and one of the most iconic Ultra Kaiju just...Juan
I remember when this game was announced I had literally just complained how there were no Ultraman games on the Switch. Then this was announced. I was like, "I should have been more specific."
I never played a MR game but being a big Ultraman fan, I had to get this game. What silly fun this game is. I get a kick out of seeing some of these Kaiju in digital form. I wonder though, what exactly is my end goal here? Am I just training year after year with different Kaiju? Complete the index? Great review. I bought the US digital release (stayed up til midnight for it to launch after the confusing US release date) but I appreciate the English physical links. Takes the guess work out of how to track these down. Thank you!
The previous games had the overall goal of becoming the top champion but there were events and story you could progress by doing certain things or being a certain rank. I haven’t played this yet but they probably have secrets & stuff
😂Never played monster rancher??!?!? Boy you missed out on Mr 3 and 4 for ps2,they was awesome plus the gba version would good. You raise monsters train them in a stable,fight them in rank competition an breed. Monster rancher,Digimon and pokemon,viva pinata are like the best games for monster raising expirence
As someone that has been dying for a modern MR release that incorporates all the mechanics of past games and at the very least adds in online pvp, this game feels like a slap in the face. It doesn't even have the same level of depth, variation, or mechanics as the first MR...
Bandai can be infuriating with what they choose to release physically here in the States! Really wish this was a physical release here! Anyway, Jordan rocks! 🍌

Monster Rancher is fun, especially when the time we have to try out all different CD to get legendary monster. And keep the CD safe, just incase want to summon another time 🤣 But Indeed, The only missing Material is that The Adventure RPG Element thats been in Monster Rancher 4 and 5, Should be include in here to be perfect.
I feel like almost all the monsters lack uniqueness. I compared the monsters to MR DS and man it was disappointed to see how all the monsters just look like reskinned Godzilla
The original ones are still in the depths of my backlog, despite me being exited to play them... Still want this though, whenever it rears it's head on the Eshop that is :P

If they didn't die or retire, there would be no difficulty. It's designed to either determine the perfect training regimen so you can still win all the tournaments before that happens, or combine 2 retired monsters so the new one inherits some of their stats and abilities to eventually win that way
This is the rancher style game we all needed and it's a Shane that they didn't do a crossover with the horny kajiu from kaichu because that would have made it more silly. 🔥🥏... Close enough

You know you can buy the physical version here in North America right? The Asian version has english support and theres stores here that sell it.
