Thank you for the feature on Frances Dee. She is usually only mentioned as the wife of Joel McCrea but she was a very good actress in her own right. And one of the most beautiful actresses of the 30's.

Joel McCrea & Frances Dee, only married to each other, & married 57 years until his death. Three sons. A quality life. 🌟🌟

They had a nice life together. They made a fortune in real estate. Their ranch is still in the family.

It is in the San Rosa Valley. There are 280 acres left of the ranch. The bulk was sold off & was where the northern area of Thousand Oaks is. If you look at pictures of the existing ranch it does look kind of shabby. It is being fixed up though & is on the National Historic Registry

Now she was a Dame. That’s what is missing these days. No more Dames.

Francis Dee was every bit as beautiful as any of the 1930's female "Superstars", e.g. Claudette Colbert,
Myrna Loy, Betty Davis, Carole Lombard, etc., but never reached their level of stardom! From these 'clips',
it seemed that they put her into "fallen woman" roles too much, which could have hurt her career! She
was more successful in her home life, i.e. married 57 yrs. to one man,Joel McCrea! Love & R.I.P. Francis!

Love this pre-code Hollywood .boy did they get away with some stuff I'll take a half a dozen women who running around in their skivvies for 1 buck naked woman today.. now they knew how to make things sexy. and boy did they know how to imply stuff :that final scene is a classic "oh I had to fight my way out of the office" " what did you say his name was?" she grabs the newspaper and runs in .classic

One of Dee’s most fun performances is in “Blood Money.” (The clip with her saying ‘what she needs is a good thrashing’ is from the same film.)

The days when you could watch a movie no sex no filth no swearing and be totally entertained. Some done in the 40s with the cast in a single room and you never noticed they left.

Dee and McCrea married in 1933. Dee continued acting for another twenty years or so.
