The faux bases used to have a larger gap in the bottom, so it was easier to put a magnet in. To be honest, the lip on the base might be the worst thing about Wyrds games, and I think im going to start leaning toward option 3 and just buying flat top bases.
I have some second edition lightning bugs and I can fit much larger magnets underneath them. I'm not sure how I feel about the sunken bases Malifaux has, I really want to get some toppers to see how they are in real life but I can see that getting expensive quickly
@@DavesMiniMenagerie I have used toppers for a few of my crews, but I actually really like making bases. Some bases are actually easier with the lip, like if you want to add water effects or something, but most of the time im just spending a ton of time filling them in like you did here.
@@DefectiveDice yeah I was thinking water effects would work well with them, but yeah as you say I have spent quite a while filling mine in... Having the minis sunken down below really does bother me
Litko makes magnetic stickers that are perfect for Malifaux bases.
Ooh yeah I see, that's a neat idea for sure. I'll have to try that
Green Stuff World makes great pin rollers that imitate a different type of floor. Easy to use with milliput.
I've seen those but never tried them. That might work really well with these bases to fill in the centre section
man i wish i found this earlier now I'm just starting my malifaux journey
you should try look at some sort of hole saw to drill them out rather then cutting
Yeah that would be handy :( I just don't have a drill. It would make it like 100 times faster
