Agreed, I just saw a vid for the Rep Ares and it seems like a real solid option to get some cable work in. Would be interested in seeing how its integrated into video like this.
That was an AWESOME video Coop! would love to see TITAN or REP fitness but also would like to see what you would recommend for people to want a budget gym for certain types of working out. IE crossfit gym, powerlifting gym or a cardio focused gym. That kind of stuff would be cool to see what you recommend.
I have the Monster Lite in my garage in bright green. Easy to fold up when I need the room. Landmine attachment, spotter arms and weight arms. My plates are cheapos inherited from someone else, same with barbell. I added Bowflex dumbbells I found on sale and I have everything I could need for a while. Pretty cost effective.
Would love to see you re-build this gym during the matte black sale and compare. Doesn't have to be the exact same items, but build a really comparable gym using matte black deals and see how much better the deals are.
Brother, I love your channel. You are the biggest China/Rep fan in existence. 😂 I don’t think you’d spend $1.00 more to buy something made in your home nation. So yeah, Rogues not for you.
So you are concerned with not being able to put on as many rubber bumper plates plates on the bar compared to steel plates, yet you went with the deep dish plates? Width on Rogue 45 lb rubber echo plate: 2.40" Width of Rogue 45 lb deep dish plate: 2.95"
wow I starting building my home gym around Christmas time last year and have spent around $2500 doing so matching different brands, I find it insane that a budget gym is around 2500-3k but if you are on the edge about building one. its the best decision I have ever made!
That's what I was going to say. I recently purchased their power rack for my man cave living room. My son and I are using the hell out of it. Seems very well constructed and has the features we were looking for. I only paid around four hundred bucks, delivered to my house.
Bells of steel just came out with a new rack that comes with a lot of attachments. Any review on that coming soon also do you know anything about there plates good bad cheap expensive. Seems like a good deal but unsure
I'd like to see a Bells of Steel video. I bought there light commercial rack a year ago because it was the only 72-inch rack I could find that did not need to be bolted down. I wish I could justify buying there new 3x3 rack since it's the only way I know of to get a lat pulldown with a short Seeling.
Kind of shocked no one mentions Costco that much. I got their full power rack for $500 and includes spotter arms, landmine attachment, pull up bar with different handles
I sold my used car, spent the $6500 on Rogue equipment. It took me six months just to pick out everything I wanted. Best investment ever!!! Garage Gym Gang! 👊🏾
I love your video’s! Can you make a one car garage home gym video? Doesn’t have to be on a budget. I focus on powerlifting, but it doesn’t have to be a powerlifting focused home gym. Probably a nice ideo for people without a lot of space! Keep up the work☺️
Coop, Great video! You just gave me an idea, for some reason i dismissed the yoke early on in buying a garage gym, but now i see you can add spotter arms and the center bar is adjustable. This opens up a whole range of new workout possibilities i could be doing with one piece of equipment. Cheers :)
One thing not mentioned is that if you buy an actual rack the shipping for the order is $75. That’s how I saved a ton on shipping when I set up my gym.
Haven't watched until the end so I am not sure what Coops tips on saving are going to be. But when I bought my home gym from Rogue the total with shipping was around $4,700. I didn't realize until after I checked out that if you spend $5,000 that the shipping is free. So I could have bought a lot more equipment and spent around $300 more and got a lot better value. Just something to keep in mind if you are looking to do something like this.
Not so much other companies, but a Craigslist or EBay version. Obviously, it would be illustrative as the kit wouldn’t always be available, but would be an interesting project to see what you can achieve at a specific moment in time.
I'm moving soon and looking at their yoke. It doubles as a squat rack, can take accessories, and it's a freaking yoke/rack in the same price range as less versatile racks.
Rep, titan, bells of steel, Great Lakes girya, kettlebell kings, tru grit … I know not all of them supply whole gyms but just appreciate the research you do!!
Hey Coop, do you have a video reviewing all the different ROUGUE rigs and racks? I like the idea in this video but I would like to have something I can also do banded and kipping pull-ups on. Thanks!
What a great exercise you've done. There's no one build for everyone, but going through the rationale for each piece of equipment is very useful for all of us. Thanks. hehe..skipping rope is a killer.
Awesome video! I’m putting in drywall this week in my garage so I can build a home gym and this is a start. How about a video like this but for low budget, medium budget, high budget? I’ve had about 8k worth of product in my cart at rogue fitness but I have hesitated to pull the trigger because that’s a lot of money. If you were able to do a low, med, high it could help in figuring out what I should buy lol.
Have you ever done a video of how you would outfit your gym if starting from scratch? Not a cheap or money-no-object but more like a best value/use. Maybe a $5k, $10, & $15k levels?
Awesome. A next level budget Rogue build. Would be awesome if you could save the cart with a link and we can just click it. Then delete or add from your suggestion. Incredible research you have done!!
Coop! I’m having to downsize to a place without a garage. How can I protect my small set up from humidity and rust if I have to store my equipment outside? Is there anything I can coat my rack with? I have a simple set up - Rogue SML squat rack, weight tree, bar, bumpers, power blocks. Thank you so much for the amazing service you provide; you’ve changed my life!
Practical concern--I have wondered about it--my take right now is that I have had tools stored outside--they need to be covered with a tarp and you just have to do (daily wiping down when used or inclement weather) otherwise periodic maintenance for rust--and the tools continue to work fine but they don't look as good over time.
I got a Rogue Ohio Power bar out of the Boneyard because of you. She’s lightning in my hand, The Medusa, & she’s a beauty 😗🎶 Absolutely perfect to me, dang she looks good. Most pleased. ⚡️👍🏻
Wow I think we have different definitions of "budget"! I just ordered a pretty much new complete gym, PR-4100 Folding rack (($449 41inch depth) with spotter arms and some weight storage pins) and AB-4100 adjustable bench ($399) from REP ($1120), MX85 MXSelect adjustable dumbbells ($599), and a regular full size olympic barbell and 230 lbs of bumper weights from Fray Fitness ($520 shipped) $2239 Total but I didn't get the cable system or jump rope etc. I thought about scouring facebook marketplace for used bars and weights but that can get exhausting dealing with all the flaky people on there.
R3 rack, boneyard bar and echo bumpers. The R3 rack saves space, yet has band pegs, westside hole spacing, regular and fat bar pull-up options. The echo bumbers are legit and similar width and density to competition plates. If you pull over 500 lbs then you might need steel plates.
I feel like there are some BIG saving left on the table here. For example, you can buy some of the barbell and bumper plates packages that they offer, which from what I can see are really good value. The cheapest one I see now is only $665 and includes an echo barbell, 2x 45s, 25s and 10s + OSO barbell collars + has free shipping. Also the cheapest bumper plates available are actually the US-Mil specs ($160 for 2x 45lbs vs $190 for 2x 45lbs for the echo ones). If you buy a power rack instead of a yoke you also can take advantage of the $75 max shipping.
Love the recommendations! I am building a home gym from scratch, will get a rack and the air bike also. Other than that, will follow your recommendations and buy in one go in November. Keep the videos coming!!
I love my Rouge Stainless Steel Ohio Power bar. I think it's worth the investment especially if you are putting it in your garage where it has moisture exposure. I also started with 500 lbs of Rogue Deep Dish plates. Glad I got them when I did! Just looked at the price and they are $330 more than what I paid.
@@GarageGymReviews I'd even go with a Boneyard version of the Ohio bar to shave off a couple of bucks, if any are available. We have two and they're both great! EDIT: Now i'm at that part of the video where you mention the Boneyard equipment! 🤦♂
@@GarageGymReviews How are you dealing with the side effects of lifting the deep dish plates? People keep asking if I am an NFL linebacker and each rep of 225+ that I do ends up growing 1 additional chest hair. At this point my chest looks like Austin Powers and my wife is so confused... she doesn't know if she should shag me now or shag me later.
You should do a bells of steel version of this and review more of their products in general, lots of fellas I follow on this platform have good things to say. Would love a comparison of them to rogue. Thanks!
Get RX’D has great fitness products as well. Just purchased a Get RX’D mens 20kg. “Rocket” Barbell on sale. Lifetime warranty against functionality AND bending. 2 pin bearings and 2 oversized oil impregnated bushings. Hard chrome sleeves and bar, 216k tensile strength. 28mm handle (Olympic Competition Standards). Available in zinc coating as well. Woman’s bar too. All for a sale price of $ 160!
REP FITNESS! Mostly to justify my purchases hehehe. I got way more gym for the same price as the Rogue total. Stainless steel bar and cable attachments, EXTREME knurling, Lat/row, adjustable bench, bumpers. It's going to be siiiiiiiiiick!
Yes please more budget builds from other companies would be awesome for comparison or like specializing like empower lifting or bodybuilding or sports or etc
Should make a budget "powerlifter's home gym" build. combo rack, kilos etc. Would be very interesting to get your opinion on what you think is essential.
Love it 👍 Very similar to the gym I’m getting together just no weights. When it’s all done it’ll be centered around a TRX/Rings hanging off a wall mounted pull up bar. Only thing I have that’s not here is Plyo Boxes and kettlebells. All Rogue except for the Plyobox, idk Rogue just isn’t making a good Plyobox right now. I like the 1 box you flip around to 3 heights everyone else makes. Mobility focused and body weight is the goal 👍 If I ever get light enough I wanna start looking at rock climbing. Nothing crazy, just think it would be cool to boulder around. Anyone over there at Garage Gym Reviews into climbing?
Using the yoke was inspired thinking. You contradicted yourself however with the plates - if number of plates on the bar is an issue, go for thinner iron plates. Especially if you’re using metal plates, it should also be footnoted that rubber flooring needs to be factored in.
I understand this post is almost a year old and I really like it. What I would love to see, if possible, is a home gym on a budget of series, one that is the cheapest possible and then maybe ones that move up by $500 increments. Even if this were just a list on the website, I would love that (If it's already on the website, I apologize, I haven't checked). I have about $2,500 I can spend, and with some of the older videos, the just don't seem to fit for what I'm looking for. I think I'll take the suggestion and wait until November to get the gym since all these sites do black Friday. If you could do a build your gym on black Friday, that would be even better. I love you content, thanks for all the great work.
Love these videos. Not sure I entirely agree that gym rings and a ring hanger are in my budget essentials but I think I don't know how to use them properly!
Assault will last longer than Echo and assault will send you parts for free. Rogue only sends a new bike when it’s in warranty, and will not send parts. Just buy the Warrior CF set. It’s free shipping and costs the same with more options
I know some of the brands offer Gym Outfitting. Id like to see a review or breakdown of those. Also, if there are 3rd party company’s that you could go to in order to purchase, ship, install, and plan out the layout of your gym that’d be something I’d want to see included. I’m one of the people with a higher budget but I just don’t have the time to handle all this on my own. I travel near constantly for work and the only way I could accomplish this without taking vacation time would be if I paid someone to do it.
Great suggestions. Just the last bit about the collars: I feel that the Eleiko collars give an unparalleled functionality and the extra cost is totally worth it.
I am looking to build one but got no budget . Soon will have one. For now I have a pair of 4.5 kg and 2.4 kg concrete dumbbells, 13 kg concrete barbell and a pull up bar . I am looking to get a bench and some cheap weights to build my dream home gym. And I have just spent 3 dollars for the weights because I had left over cement and scrap and 12 dollars for the pull up bar , you don't need thousands of bucks to build a home gym .
Details galore as always, Fine job Coop I must confess though I am a REP man, Yeah they take forever getting equipment to me and that gets frustrating but their prices for their quality cannot be beat for Value, IMO. Only Rogue item I own is the USA Aluminum collars, like U said they are the best.
I’d like to see a budget setup built around different training styles: CrossFit, strongman, powerlifting, general fitness, etc. and go from there. It doesn’t have to be from the same company, but can be. Choose a dollar amount and build the above gyms held to that same $$$.
Any idea if you could replace the 2.95" crossbar with a 1.25" adjustable pull up bar and continue to safely use it as a yoke? This could make the bar easier to move/remove and be used for standard pull ups.
Hi Coop, I am from Switzerland and following your reviews with great pleasure. I am currently building my home gym and bought a rock foldable wall rack. My question is the following as I am using a room which has floor heating and wood floor. I will protect the floor with a gym tiles. Rubber or other. But my concern is still that if I let fall regulary weights at the rack, that that could still damage the floor with time. Would it makes sense to have a mobile additional tile under each steel Upright when I am open it for using? In order to add an additional cushioning ? thanks for your help and keep going ;-)...
Id like to see you do this for REP and use the $3000 - $3300 cost for this rogue build as the budget for REP, and other companies you do, to kind of show what’d you get for roughly the same amount of money.
Would love to see a REP fitness version of this video. Think it would be more in the range of a “budget” home gym. Appreciate all y’all do!!
I second this
Agreed, I just saw a vid for the Rep Ares and it seems like a real solid option to get some cable work in. Would be interested in seeing how its integrated into video like this.
I third this! lol we need a REP video
Which is exactly how I built my gym. Stuff feels higher quality than cheap amazon junk but cost a lot less than Rogue.

I travel near constantly for work and the only way I could accomplish this without taking vacation time would be if I paid someone to do it.
For a budget pullup, why not stick a couple oak dowels/climbing pegs of the right diameter through the yoke's holes?
Interesting to see you recommend the concept2 rower or ski erg or air bike. Are you a fan of the bikerg for people that want to do LISS and HIIT?
Bells of Steel
Bells of steel would be cool. They seem to have great products at a great price!
Great suggestions. Just the last bit about the collars: I feel that the Eleiko collars give an unparalleled functionality and the extra cost is totally worth it.
Collars are collars you damn fitness cultists are delusional
I am looking to build one but got no budget . Soon will have one. For now I have a pair of 4.5 kg and 2.4 kg concrete dumbbells, 13 kg concrete barbell and a pull up bar . I am looking to get a bench and some cheap weights to build my dream home gym. And I have just spent 3 dollars for the weights because I had left over cement and scrap and 12 dollars for the pull up bar , you don't need thousands of bucks to build a home gym .
You should do a best value version with multiple brands!
Why the heck haven’t I ever thought of the yoke as a rack? Thanks Mr. Coop!
That was very informative and quite comprehensive. Thank you 👍
Any thoughts on a budget outdoor gym? Living in the pnw and no shot I’m affording an anodized rack.
Great setup and options you provided you just forgot to add a plate holder of some kind unless they dont mind having the plates in the floor lol
Details galore as always, Fine job Coop
I must confess though I am a REP man,
Yeah they take forever getting equipment to me and that gets frustrating but their prices for their quality cannot be beat for Value, IMO.
Would like to see a pivot bed/power rack review. Still considering buying it. Wondering if anyone out there has one as well
Would the Yoke work as a rack in a small basement gym? In the good season I could move it out for outdoor training. Thanks
Any idea if you could replace the 2.95" crossbar with a 1.25" adjustable pull up bar and continue to safely use it as a yoke? This could make the bar easier to move/remove and be used for standard pull ups.
I think REP is the natural progression in this series
Good video. I understand they were trying to cut down on the runtime but I am not a fan of the cuts inbetween every other word.
If you could only own one adjustable bench which one would it be? I was thinking about REP fitness Ab 4100, but am open to suggestions.
Great video. What “full” budget rack would you recommend?
I look forward to Coops budget picks of the Eleiko lineup. 😂
Any reviews, experience or thoughts on the E-coat Ohio bar by rogue compared to black zinc, black oxide or cerakote? Thanks
Can you review the Core25 Backpack from KingKong apparel? Literally my favorite gym bag on all time🔥
Titan fitness budget gym up next! Good video!
Everyone is probably going to say Titan which would be cool, but I’d love to see a full CAP setup.
Id like to see you do this for REP and use the $3000 - $3300 cost for this rogue build as the budget for REP, and other companies you do, to kind of show what’d you get for roughly the same amount of money.
