You know, just corner them against a legal wall, so at least they would be legally bound to make the payments. Additionally, I would at least ask them for their consent to be recorded for the purpose of the document, wherein I would explain to them the terms of the cause, which would also include that termination of contract by either party will result in a penalty to be incurred by the side of the Karen only. This will be the basic CYA (cover your ass) contractual clauses I would include that is designed specifically to screw with Karens. Normally they would be pissed off either about the cost or the work not being done, and I would consider that as payment for their spiel about not wanting to work or some bullshit. Work costs money bitch, and I intend to never work for free, especially the kind of work that I didn't want to do in the first place... If they sign the contract, well, that's money for all the troubles that I'll have to deal. Also, before I forget, the contract will also add the clause that every interaction will be recorded, and each interaction will be sweet and cordial on the side of the Karen or else it will be considered a breach of contract. I will NOT lose my peace of mind by interacting with Karens losing their marbles at the drop of the hat... And if this thing ever goes to court, I would tell the court that the contract was DELIBERATELY designed to be discouraging for the Karens to not consider this situation as they ignored my words the first time around that I was not a hired help of any kind and that I was doing my own thing, something that I would also add into the contract that (if) they signed...
When I worked in printing, this customer wanted a full color booklet done in 2 days. It was printed and then cut but the ink was so wet that it left streaks when it went through the booklet maker. I told my supervisor and his response was "They paid extra to get it on Monday". I told him that doesn't affect how fast the ink will dry. He insisted that I assemble it without leaving streaks. Knowing that was impossible, I attempted to appeal to the sales person. She said "But they paid extra so they could have it on Monday". I said, "Doesn't anybody get that ink dries only so quickly? Why does everybody think that throwing money at it changes the laws of physics"? SMH still.
That's funny! I always think the same thing like when someone screams "I'm going to a competitor's store then!! blah blah blah...." what do they honestly think that's going to get them? Do they think it's hurting the the employees feelings? Do they think it's going to affect the employee's paycheck in some way shape and or form? The fact that he DID come back for the right wire and molding probably means that the stubborn customer went to the competitor, didn't say what he wanted to do with the wire, simply asking for the speaker wire, and learned the hard way why you shouldn't try to push that much current through speaker wire... Luckily the burnt plastic smell goes away after a day or two.
