Physician Hero Dr. Herndon Murray, Shepherd Center

Dr. Herndon Murray is the medical director of orthopedics at Shepherd Center in Atlanta and has been with the hospital since its opening in 1975. He helped build Shepherd Center’s Adolescent Spinal Cord Injury Rehabilitation Program and, with his good nature and sense of humor, he’s built a strong bond over the years with the teens who are part of the program. Additionally, he is passionate about preventing spinal cord injuries and educating teens about diving risks. Although he retired from running the adolescent program in 2015, he is still very much a strong presence at Shepherd Center.
