- Welcome back,
In this video I take the new Tragopan chair hide to photograph some local wildlife.
The ease of taking the Lagopus blind and quickly assembling it for various situations was ideal for this video. As you'll see wildlife isn't always predictable.....

Great Hide !!! Something a bit different. Man your so lucky to have a garden like that & to top it off your own woodland ! Great post as always 👍👏🏻👍! Have a great weekend my friend
Thanks Craig, I am very lucky indeed and it's such a joy to be able to look after the wildlife and make it better for them. And to you mate, loving the quality of the new Browning Cameras by the way, cheers for the recommend. All the best R
Looks a quality bit of kit. Dry and comfy, more time in the field. Thank you for the review. All the best. Cheers. 👍📷😎
Thanks Rob, that's what it's all about a little added comfort whilst in the field, lol.. Cheers R 😀👍
Great looking product Richard.
Cheers Kevin, ideal for leaving out somewhere for repeat visits. 👍
Hi Richard fantastic review tragopan certainly make some great products they really think of ever situation, tragopus will be going on my Christmas list brilliant review Richard, I always look at reviews on products before I buying anything thank you for taking time and sharing it with us Richard, hope your keeping well. Martyn
Cheers Martyn, the quality is really good and although they cost quite a bit more and the duty is quite expensive I think they are awesome bits of kit. I always do look for the reviews first, many people hate it when you get kit for free and do a review but it is what it is, lol... Really good thanks hope you are too. All the best R
Great bit of kit and nice relaxed review Richard. Not many places around here I could put one out unfortunately but something to consider for the future. Cheers Keith
Cheers Keith, it's a shame people can be trusted anymore but if you had access to some private land it would be a nice edition to leave in situ! Thanks for watching mate. Cheers R 👍
Great looking piece of kit mate.
Ideal Craig, will put it up in the wood and leave it in situ! Good to throw a Ghillie Blanket over the top for added effect! Cheers R
I have a nitehawk chair hide takes about 30 seconds to ensemble and is great value
Totally agree
Great Chairs the Nitehawk, had one for over 15 years, bit battered now but still going...
always produce quality vlogs
Thanks my friend, very kind of you 👍
Hi Richard, just looking at you sitting there, it seems to me that the camera port is at least 12inches too low and as usual, all gear these days is being made for mirrorless cameras? The only way to shoot that camera through that port is by using the live view screen, you have no hope of bending down that far to look through the viewfinder if a DSLR, or even a new mirrorless jobbie because the port is so low and completely covered in. If there are options available, it would be nice of tragopan to make them available to you so that you look like you could actually use the thing in the field. Bruce.
Hi Bruce, having chatted to Tragopan the best way is to first install the chair and the camera on the tripod at the desired height and then put the tent on it and peg it... There is enough additional material at the bottom of the tent to decide at which height the shooting window has to be. It was down to my error not adjusting it correctly. I hope this does help a bit more. If not please let me know. All the best and thanks for watching. R 👍
No doubt that the Tragopan chair is an exceptional piece of kit. Although I have never owned any Tragopan products, I'm fully aware that they produce quality products. In my line of wildlife photography, I usually walk quite a few miles each time that I'm out (likewise with many other enthusiasts) rather than being stationed in an area of interest. For those enthusiasts who like to get about, would the chair hide be a bit cumbersome and heavy to carry around? I usually use a cheap fold up chair and a decent bag hide if and when I decide on being stationary at certain stages of my adventure(s). I suppose if you were fit with the body of an Adonis, carrying extra weight around wouldn't be an issue lol. Anyway, keep up the exceptional work Richard!!
The extra weight to carry on is always an issue for me, so for that reason I prefer to build a photoblind in spots when I can, and when it worths.
Thanks very much indeed Brian very kind of you to say! To be honest with a great deal of my Wildlife photography I do things quite similar but hides have their place in certain situations, I love bag hides and have several which cut down weight when treking at distance with my foldable small stool! Like the fir with Adonis bit, I'm with you there, lol.. All the best and thanks for watching, Cheers R👍
@@GiuseppeGessa yep...done this a few times too Giuseppe..Thanks for the reply!
Building a hide out of natural materials is my preferred option when time and permission is allowed. Best hides every time 👍
@@RichardBirchett Agree 100% in reference to hides Richard...can't beat them (shame you have to pay sometimes..lol) All the very best!!
Hi Richard, nice review!, I ordered just the chair but also ordered the ghillie blanket last Thursday, Every email I get is in French, and last up date I got was that it was in the uk, then got an email saying the package is being reinforced? Haven't herd anything since 🤔
Hi Jordan, thanks very much really glad you enjoyed it! Nice one on the Ghillie blanket they are really good, although bits constantly get caught in it, lol.. Not sure why it would have been in French, it may be caught up in the Duty/Tax part! If you get any problems I can chat to Tragopan. Best of luck R 👍
Hi Richard, I received my order today im happy I didn't have to pay extra costs like some people have, everything looks well made! Can't wait to take it out with me Friday, thanks again for the review and other videos you post 👌👏👏👏
@@J.Cphotography92 My pleasure Jordan, enjoy the chair and let me know how you get on, all the best R (Glad you didn’t pay extra cost) 🙏👍
Great stuff buddy, one question, did customs have your pants down for import duties?.... I really like that it looks great as all their kit is superb quality! i can feel my bank card warming up!!!! 😂😂
Thanks JP, not this time but that's a cheeky amount on top of the purchase price! They are great quality and will last! Can't beat buying stuff, lol.. Cheers R
@@RichardBirchett Cant beat new kit! lol 😉👍🏼
One could scrounge up some copper pipe and quickly build a frame around chair and toss a camo tarp over frame. Add needed bits and bobs to make window. Free pipe at a renovation site.
One could indeed Eric, if I had the time! Cheers R
@@RichardBirchett I meant people in general.
Cool, 👍
@@RichardBirchett I would buy the two man hide if it was 2 ft longer. Use it as a tent, camping and photo gear.
@@Ericbjohnston5150 Good idea Eric, they do the Monal V2 which is very spacious and great for overnight sessions. Cheers R
merci
Thanks R 👍
Richard, Do you have an updated code for the discount?
Hi there Eduardo, are you trying to purchase from outside of Europe? My code only works there but I can see if I can get a discount for where you are if you want? Rich 👍
@@RichardBirchett Hello!! I want to buy from inside Europe. I live in Spain. . A greeting
@@efagovil Okay no worries, did you try richardtrago5 - Looks like it has expired, I'll contact Tragopan to get it extended. I'll message you as soon as it's done. Cheers R
@@RichardBirchett Yeah, I'll try it and it looks like it's expired! A greeting
@eduardogomezvilchez2798 I’ve just sent them an email to make sure it’s validity is extended. I’ll message you when it’s been done so you can order 👍
Thank you so much for the review. It was very helpful. One problem. The promo code you offered (richardtrago5) was invalid when I tried to use it on the purchase site. Was it only valid for a short time?
My pleasure Marge, I will look in to it, it shouldn't have a life on the PROMO code so I will speak to Tragopan, have you still ordered? Thanks R
@@RichardBirchett No I haven't yet ordered.
@@margerosenthal858 Hi there Marge, I've tried the code and it works fine. richardtrago5
@@RichardBirchett Thanks. I'll give it another try. I'm trying to purchase this from a distributor in the USA. When I contacted them they said no discount codes because of the their increased costs, etc. I understand that. For me, however, it's not about the money. A 5% discount is inconsequential. It's more that the manufacturer/dealer offered a discount and then claimed the offer was old and outdated when it's current. Not a good way to do business. I appreciate your continued responses and follow-up.
Hi there Marge, I think it’s probably because it’s outside Europe, I will ask the question at Tragopan HQ👍
