Skywynne was actually unable to fly, that's the whole reason we have the modern spell book. She had to give the wand to her mom who had like a flying broom wand. So butterflies can fly if they're wand allows them to. The umbrella allowing flight is probably just a reference to Mary Poppins.

What's always incredibly interesting to me whenever you see a summarization or consolidation of Eclipsa's power set is that you see another aspect of Solaria's warmongering efforts and abusive, controlling nature. With Mina, it's obvious since she's championing Solaria's cause and trying to emulate her. On the other hand, Eclipsa is trying her best NOT to emulate her mother, even being completely against and reluctant to use her mother's destructive spells. However, she can't hide how EFFICIENT she is in using the wand and how good she is in a fight. Frankly, in many ways, the sheer breadth and variety of magic she handles surpasses both Star and Moon's, especially considering she's (practically speaking) younger than moon.
