I played this level when I was a kid and I screamed loud as fuck because the chase was so unexpected and came out of nowhere. My mom came running thinking that something had happened to me and then took the game away since I scared her haha
and me? i've always been terrified of bugs, and Zingers already put me off as they were. i got so shocked when i dropped down and saw King Zing waiting for me, i immediately paused the game and backed away from the screen for a while. when i got back, i started running like hell. in fact, i was still so rattled that when the time came for the boss fight, i fought King Zing from the alcove where you start - i only ventured out when he turned into the smaller Zingers.
At 2:32 King Zinger chase scared me too as a kid like "OH shit!! That is one huge bee, it's chasing me run little Rhino, run!" yeah it was scary for me then like music changed too. It has that dramatic and scare material in it
@@virtualpellot933 Fun fact: King Zing Sting is actually Queen B's husband, and since you fight and supposedly kill Queen B in dkc1, It makes the Chase and the battle with King Zing Sting even more personnal and dramatic than It already is, lol.
Too bad king krool messed up the entire island and it’s power because we do t see zingers in three but don’t know what that implies exactly but hopefully then made it but that was a hard hit when it blew and sank so yikes. But maybe others survived from their own island before that. Cool boss though a fav.
Fun fact, I've noticed this version of King Zing's sprite is missing his stinger. See "Rambiless Rambi Rumble". He has it in the GBA version, though it doesn't blink red.
I couldn't bee-lieve it when the chase part started. They say that if you bee-have, bees will leave you alone. But King Zing wasn't bee-ing taken for a ride 😁 (P.S. I'm not sure if they're meant to be bees, wasps or hornets...)
@MarfSSBB, if you went to the Monkey Museum and asked Cranky, he would've said the following: "Don't be too quick to enter Rambi's house. Think things over." Keyword? "Over." As in "over the house." Rare was VERY clever with its wording, and you really need to read into Cranky's hints to dissect what he's trying to tell you.
I managed to get the DK coin by charge dashing with Rambi then jumping twice. It seemed to glitch and let me jump again when I hit the wall. I came to this video to find the proper non glitchy way to get it
I only figured it out after (a) having discovered and completed the other two and there still not being an exclamation mark after the level name after finishing that run (bearing in mind that a level name has an exclamation mark at the end of it *only* when you have found all bonus stages in that level and successfully obtained the coin in each one), and (b) when it was the only real stand-out wall that could be super-charged in that way between transforming into Rambi and coming across the No-Rambi sign. That having been said, to do (b) you still needed to ensure that you got a good-enough head-start on King Zing so that he does not get to you whilst you are still charging up Rambi’s super-charge manoeuvre.
I kinda hate these kind of unmarked wall secrets that don't give you any hints whatsover that there actually might be an hidden passageway behind the wall. You just need to bump randomly every wall in a hope to find something. Old school game design FTW
I don't really mind these so much. at least you know it's a thing in donkey Kong, so if there's a wall near a barrel, or while you're rambi, you pretty know to check it just in case(especially when you're diddy and can just hold the barrel and run into the wall without having to throw it like Dixie does.) the shit that really drove me nuts was in the first game(and some other platforming games, including even mario games I think), where the hidden room/barrel is literally just in a random hole, with no indication that there is anything there. the first time I saw that I was like, "wtf? am I going to have to just start jumping into every gap just in case there's a secret room there now?"
If you talk with Cranky in the Museum he has the following advice for this level "A charge down the last straight with Rambi will ensure a crushing victory." So it's not actually random
Thank toy very much , this game is ci fusion sometimes. After this big green guy with the club i was lost and when i found the stage with the bees i couldn't find hiw ti finish the stage. Thanks again man.
I'll admit that this level did nothing to help my fear of insects 😁 I'm better these days, but I'm still not overly fond of them. Interesting fact: female bees and wasps can sting, males cannot.
What a difference 14 years makes in capture quality. But here I am, 14 years later, still appreciating this video. Cheers dude!
