- Salomé was one of the four winners of the Eurovision Song Contest 1969 in Madrid for host country Spain with 18 points. Spain won for the second time in a row.
This was the second (and to date the last) spanish victory.
Fun fact: With this performance Spain became the first country to win Eurovision twice in a row. Ironically they haven’t won since then

My favorite winner in the history the contest. That dress is iconic an I love the way the song builds up. The male chorus is amazing and the way she moves in that dress… It never fails to but a smile on my face. I can’t stop watching it. It never gets old.
The dress was made of porcelain, weighed 14 kgs (more or less 30 lbs) and the necklace another 3, Salomé did an astounding job.
That dress was made by the famous Spanish couturier Manuel Pertagaz
It was already a great song but her performance made it a winner. That dress, swagger and stage presence sell this classic even today. Brava Salomé! 👏💖

I am Greek and I cannot understand the lyrics but this song is in my top10 in the Eurovision Song Contest!

According to Wikipedia: Her dress was designed by Manuel Pertegaz, it weighed 14 kg and was made of small chalk blue porcelain cylinders. She was also three 1-kg necklaces, so she got a decent workout with each performance.
