I think part of the issue is that too many people have seen the stuff portrayed in the Barbie movie is often said seriously… Even with it being humorous, it seems that the messaging is earnest…. And they’re fed up with being battered by that message by media that is more mainstream. I think many are taking it too seriously, but I can also see why they are fed up with this sort of thing.
I feel for people who see this as a culture war… this movie points out the f’ing struggle being a women or a man. And just Ken is a song about not being seen, not being comfortable, not feeling loved and realizing loving yourself is the most important step to your best life. And it’s hilarious.
It flips every rom-com we’ve ever seen except for 500 Days of Summer, which also flips the script on women always relying on a man for happiness and or identity. I think of every movie I’ve seen where the woman loses at love in the beginning , becomes depressed, travels, goes on a retreat, and then only becomes happy again in the last 10 minutes when she meets a new guy. I know there’s much more to the movie than that, but that’s the part that resonates with me.
I get the feeling that most of the complaints are from people who don't feel like they're Kenough. But you sound like this is not a problem for you! Thanks for the history lesson. The costume made my day.
Barbie really reminded me of Free Guy. 2021 with Ryan Reynolds. It did a similar job paying homage and mocking video games. With a good love story as well.
I love it and has a great time watching it. I wasn’t really into Barbies as a kid, and I’m 36 now. This is a fun and hilarious movie with some great messages. Kinda what I needed to perk me up after a depressive episode. Ryan Gosling always crushes his roles.
Thanks for filling in a gap, they did have an asian Ken but what about a Cherokee Ken or me being Australian an aboriginal Ken playing dig', we definately need more Kens in the world.
You have such nice energy, and you're right, I don't get the hate either! As a Canadian, thank you for those brief MMC joints - the history is important, and not off the rails at all. That song and it's scene definitely are though!
Hi Ken. I'm ken too, an 🧓 ken ♿. I was going to treat myself to watching the 🎥. However, being an 🧓 ken, I really thought I would look a bit strange being surrounded by mums and kids,😮. Perhaps I'll wait to see it on 📺 in a few years ⌚ when 🧓 ken ♿ is transferred to the rest 🏡. 😢😔 ❤.
Ryan was amazing as Ken,I really hope Ryan gets nominated! Unfortunately, I don’t think anybody’s going to beat out Leonardo DiCaprio‘s performance in the upcoming Killers of the flower moon. He could be nominated and win for best supporting actor like Ke Huy Quan was last year.
We jus ken. Normal men . Not top 1% Ken not harassment women . Ken not chat (rich , 6ft tall , skinny and muscular). the majority of men re just normal Sims. who is looking for love will do anything to provide for, love and protect his woman
I really enjoyed this movie. But i do 100% believe that the plot/storyline didnt have an actual story. There are some obvious wtiting flaws but i stil enjoyed the crap outta yhis movie lol
My friend who loves the movie I think said it best: the plot is exactly how you'd expect actual children playing with dolls to spontaneously make it 😂 as in: completely unhinged, chaotic, at least a little weird, prone to introducing and then completely forgetting/writing off entire character and plot threads. In a way, especially combined with other "acting like actual dolls being played with" (e.g. Barbie going directly from her roof to the car, Ken flipping over backwards after hitting the surf, the way the car flips etc) it becomes weirdly clever in itself. Very avant garde though. 😂definitely not for everyone.
People hate this movie for 2 reasons:
1. They can't get the humor.
2. They see a culture war around every corner.
I shouldn’t care, but so many people have no idea what satire is and are freaking out about this movie.

They are misogynist.
Or they're on the wrong side of the culture war and they know it.

This is the first movie by a female directed that grossed over a million, by now 2 billion, I believe. Seems quite popular to me.
I have seen it multiple times because of Ryan Gosling ❤
He really did steal the show.
Some people have to tear down anything that’s good and pure. Barbie was fun, I loved it! 💖

Well, a lot of people love it, or it wouldn’t sell so many tickets! I LOVED it! The naysayers are just loud.
I didn’t know Ryan was in Mickey Mouse with Justin and Britney!😮
and Christina Aguilera!
And Kerri Russell
I loved this movie. Hilarious.
Its a fun, satirical, existentialist romp.
You look great.
Really loved your take.
he can really sing
Migod little Ryan's pipes!!! 🏆🏆🏆😍😍
Mate, you are Kenough. Me too. Subscribed.

I believe Mattel has been working on that. We're seeing more and more dolls from different backgrounds and ethnicities.

Horses and Aquarius song? Do you mean the musical "Hair"?
