Greta's reactions and seeing Ryan, cast and musician so focused to get to the emotions of this song was so moving. And the scene with all the other Kens singing in unison, "And so am I" was surprisingly moving. All Behind-the-Scenes should be like this.
0:51 What I LOVE about this song and this scene is that even though it was meant to be a parody and Ken is not the brightest crayon in the box, you can SEE and HEAR how much he is suffering because of Barbie's disinterest. I can tell by her face that Greta was moved by Ryan's performance, and then shocked because of being moved by this very song lol
I heard this song was just sort of written as a joke, but when Ryan heard it, he thought it really needed to be in the film. It's great! One of my fav parts!😄
Oh to be a tennis ball thrower on the set of Barbie... imagine going home to your family and they ask what you did at work today "threw tennis balls at Ryan Gosling."
The fact that all the Barbie land extras and small parts are professional dancers makes this even better because you know they were all nerding out about doing this kind of scene.
I like how this movie does a decent job at empowering women and being a pretty funny satire about corporate patriarchy, but I also love how it is also empowers men and encourages them to just be themselves, not hide their feelings, and to realize they don’t need to live up to lofty expectations to be good enough. Plus Ken gets the best song of the movie and all of funniest moments.

"Barbie" doesn't get enough credit for filming on real sets with minimal green screen. You can tell on the screen that everyone's giving it their all and having an actual set around you is definitely part of that. Yes, technology does cool things and there is a place for green screens, but when your actors see a matte painting they know where they are.

This song is a masterpiece. I don’t get tired of listening over and over. The kenergy breakdown transports me back to the 80s.. my only issue is I don’t have a 12 minute extended version to blast every day in my car 😩
that is not a prediction. that is a spoiler at the oscars. the live performance is going to be insane. josh freese on drums, slash and wolfgang van halen on guitars, songwriters andrew wyatt and mark ronson on keyboards, they could get flea on bass. have eddie vedder, trent reznor, anthony kiedis, josh homme, dave grohl, lenny kravitz, and anyone else that is cool sing backing vocals.

i wish that was the entire song
That line just hits me too
@@nonachyourbusiness1164 it's just so catchy. if someone asked me on the spot to name a lyric, i would say that one
When I'm struggling at work I tell myself "I'm just Ken and that's enough. And I'm great at doing stuff."
Looking forward to Ryan singing live at the Oscars…for THAT i will tune in!
💞💓😶😶
Yep 😂❤
He has adhd
I LOVE seeing the cast and crew having fun with it. But Seeing Greta crack up and see her vision come alive and be hilarious and fun is so wonderful.
The whole thing has so much arnachic kenergy I can get kenough of it.
JHULLYANNA PIETRA ❤❤❤😮😊🖤💃🤳👯♀️💃💃🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤
I feel like EVERYONE on this movie had a complete blast and poured their souls into it.
Yes you right
When the crew is just throwing everything indiscriminately, I felt that!
I love seeing Greta Gerwig smiling throughout the behind the scenes. I love Ryan Gosling performances, he's such a charismatic guy, his facial expressions are just everything.
Seeing how much fun the cast and crew we having makes the movie better IMO. That scene where people on the sides were throwing random crap into the Ken battle is so fun
His passion, when he’s making such a ferociously determined face, yep.
Yes. His facial expressions
Yeah Greta's so cute
Watching her smile made me sick
Honestly, "I'm just Ken" is the highlight of the entire movie, and Ryan Gosling just steal the whole show.
The black T-shirt, trousers, aggressively off-centre skinny belt, loafers, and hot pink socks look is definitely going to become my Halloween look this year! And definitely one of my sartorial stables from from this fall and onwards!
This year top Halloween costume and the fact all Kens wore that makes it more eaay and cheaper to do
And headband long faux fur coat!
@@rafaelyaguaro2842 All black with that hot pink breakage contrast is so spiffy! 😎🧣
Ryan Gosling definitely deserves the Oscar for this unique performance. Ken Lives, he’s our Ken, and Margot is our Barbie ❤️
He deserves to win Best Supporting Actor for sure! Best song is going to Billie Eilish, though. What Was I Made For? Was a masterpiece
@@SusanAnnanlas dos son maravillosas, una mueve emociones de hombres y mujeres y el cantante actúa en la película y la otra mayormente a mujeres y la cantante no actúa en la película. Sin duda una difícil elección q los expertos harán. Grandes interpretaciones.
@@yolandacoaguilacornejo9678 Yeah, but what represents Barbie. “I’m Just Ken” or “What Was I Made For?”
The answers clear. Im just Ken is such a fun song & that’s why it was added. as a gag. but billies song is exactly what Barbie (& honestly most of us) was feeling
The reaction of the director was the same I had while watching this part of the movie, it's just so emotional and epic
Not just Ryan Gosling (who made Ken's character his own), but also all the actors, the musicians, the choreography people and the production team, everyone deserves an standing ovation for this masterpiece👏👏👏This is what cinema is about!

@@MGuestinitebut do you dress with great aplomb?
Also... OMG, Slash?!
@@edgarrazo9681 And Wolf van Halen and Josh Freese! The Kenergy is strong in this song.
I heard this song was just sort of written as a joke, but when Ryan heard it, he thought it really needed to be in the film. It's great! One of my fav parts!😄
Sublime. Ten fingers! Gosling, this song, the musicians, the singers and dancers, the tennis ball throwers... they deserve all the awards.
Oh to be a tennis ball thrower on the set of Barbie... imagine going home to your family and they ask what you did at work today "threw tennis balls at Ryan Gosling."

Ryan Gosling is sublime in this character, I never thought I would enjoy a Barbie movie!
SUBLIME
I almost want to see it

@Jackiedyk What's stopping you? I've seen it four times in the theater, and I never even like Barbies when I was a girl. It's fantastic.
3:09 I love the part with the background vocals so much. This song has been stuck in my head since I've seen the movie lmao
Same. Those men are right in their feels!
Ken was my favorite thing about the Barbie movie. This song is amazing too. Ryan killed it.
He is so beautiful ❤
The fact that all the Barbie land extras and small parts are professional dancers makes this even better because you know they were all nerding out about doing this kind of scene.
The absolute happiness at 2:45 in his eyes when he counts to ten. :'D He was born to do this.
They look like they’re having so much fun on set!! I love that positive energy for the cast and crew 💕
Kenergy*
You just know all of the Kens and Barbies got to feel like kids again during the filming of this, and that is so wholesome.
You can tell Ryan went all in on that character and that song
I like how this movie does a decent job at empowering women and being a pretty funny satire about corporate patriarchy, but I also love how it is also empowers men and encourages them to just be themselves, not hide their feelings, and to realize they don’t need to live up to lofty expectations to be good enough. Plus Ken gets the best song of the movie and all of funniest moments.
Finally someone gets it...I see men and women on the conservative side lack so much media literacy, it's annoying and deplorable. Good to see common sense
@@trishasurangana2278yupppp either too conservative or too liberal they don’t seem to understand the point of the message. It’s not too different from the meaning of Fight Club either lol then again they get the meaning of that film wrong too
Ye, a truly enjoyable movie. I feel like that's the mistake that other movies make when they're primarily about women empowerment. They tend to just kinda shit on men. Like all of the male characters are just pure scum, all the comments towards men in general tend to be very sarcastic or backhanded. It's kind of a chore to watch them imo. Barbie was a breath of fresh air. We are Kenough.
Yes - feminism is good for everybody! It's about everybody being themselves and treating each other as the equals we are.
@@janetbeatrice9505 Right! Even if you were born a man you can call yourself a woman and therefore be exactly the same as a woman! Therefore there's nothing at all different or special between either men or women!
The dream sequence is pure perfection! I love how he dances! Ryan Gosling was born to play this role. This song better be performed at the Oscars.
Oh my God yes!!!! EVERYONE would watch!!!!
If this song doesn’t win an Oscar it’s rigged. The passion and love behind the song deserves all the praise
if this song loses to something lame by diane warren. i'd go hiroshima on hollywood and ride that bomb like major kong like in "dr. strangelove".
Far as I can tell, the only song that could possibly rival it is "What Was I Made For?" but imo this one should win over that. No shade to Billie.
It's going to be a Peaches vs I'm Just Ken showdown and I couldn't even choose. I'd abstain

I unironically love this song. After watching Barbenheimer I initially added this to my music playlist as a joke but began to seriously enjoy it. Ryan Gosling definitely deserves an Oscar for this :)
Someone on Tiktok said you can tell Ryan didn't think 3:00 would be the final cut by how goofy he was acting, honestly I love it even more because of that
The fact that I’m not a fan of musicals and can’t get enough of this scene says a lot about his performance

I need behind the scenes, audio commentary, bloopers, director's cut, everything. All that classic bluray content. This song is such a power ballad.
Of all the songs that were played in the movie, this stands out by far. It's been stuck in my head for three days now, and rightly so.
Because it speaks to ALL of US.

For me it's one of the best scenes in the movie. I loved the theme and I also wanted justice for Ken. ✌🏻😁❤️
Anyone else fall more and more in love with this song the more they listen to it?? Like the passion, the clarity of his and their desires to just BE, to be seen as enough just the way they are and accepted as just being "great at doing stuff" 😢 And of course the vocals in the last chorus! Truly masterful!!

It's actually a very complex song, an adventure from front to end!
The whole movie and especially this song seems like a bunch of fun for everyone involved and its just great
The movie wasn’t that good… except Margot as Barbie.
How they all manage to keep a straight face at any point in this performance is beyond me. Just love it!
He is amazing and so charismatic ❤❤
My absolute favorite part of this is when he spins the other Kens around and then they both peck him on the cheek. Just so pure and funny. I love this edit so much!
I need a Barbie broadway show, this number would absolutely kill it and the whole premise is so well made for stage.
Yes I absolutely need this to happen

Yes! 🙌
Seriously this one’s a showstopper.
Yeeeees, I am all for that!

And he looks so good doing stuff!
They used a lot of green screen.
The ABSOLUTE greatest!! Had no idea Slash was on this!! The music, lyrics, vocals,.performances is phenomenal!!! A masterpiece!
Slash, Wolfgang Van Halen and Josh Freese (Vandals, Devo and Foo Fighters)!
Everyone on the barbie set just look like they are having the time of their lives. It seems like so much fun 😭
Yes please thank the heavens 🫶🙌
The Kens, Greta’s reactions, Slash and Van Halen in there too… it’s all so good, SO GOOD.
You guys, gracias por tanto 💖
I thought that was Slash then I saw WVH and knew it was Slash. I even did a rewind.
What does “the heavens” have to do with it?
I'm so obsessed with this song! Ryan sings it so beautifully and emotionally 😍 It's been such a long time since I had a huge crush on an actor. I'm so happy and relieved that I can still feel that way 🥰
This is a really good song. It's genuinely poignant and sweet. It really makes you feel for Ken, who is just as lost and confused as Barbie in the movie. I hope this song and "Dance The Night" are contenders for awards.
It will be magical to see Ryan and Slash and Wolfgang and Josh and Mark and all the other Kens performe this live! If this masterpiece isn't nominated for "Best Song" i and all the other Kens of the WORLD will RIOT! ❤🔥🔥
I had no idea that was slash playing until I saw this video
I was happy to see Slash as well. He's awesome.
Josh Freese from Foo Fighters apparently did the drum for this song. Which is an amazing collaboration, I hope to see them perform at the Oscars
This song gives me chills each time! Everyone did such an amazing job in this. Such a great movie and soundtrack! 🐎✨😊
The incredible Ryan Gosling!
I rewatched the snippet of the movie with that performance several times.
This guy needs an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor.
The greatest scene in film history...and Ryan better do this on Oscar night! Lol. What makes it work so well is that Ryan is totally committed and sells the hell out of it. That, and its ingeniously choreographed.
This movie made grown men cry in a theatre full of little girls
