I had to actually browse DeviantArt so I can have a verdict on it based on my search in the past few days. This is what I have to say. While there are some good images lying around in the website with a simple search, these images are overshadowed by creepy ones that are guaranteed to give you nightmares for the rest of the week. These creepy DeviantArt artists can create illusions of our favorite fictional characters possessed by demons from hell. These replicas can range from being cringeworthy to being absolute nightmare fuel. Forget horror movies. DeviantArt is the real definition of horror and it has gained that status since the website first launched, but it's hard to actually tell when it became the Internet equivalent of hell.
Once saw one of my favorite characters from DBZ, Gohan, and his wife Videl blown up like fat balloons. Gohan's story of how he came to be and how he worked so hard to become a smart and strong man inspired me to work hard and he continues to be a driving force for motivation. When I saw that picture, it broke me a little. Stared for a solid minute. Similar pictures of Vegeta I have seen. He's another source for motivation for me. I know they're just anime characters, but if something motivates you, wouldn't you want it to remain pure in your mind? Now I tread very carefully if I go there for reference art. I do like to draw Vegeta and Goku and all the Z fighters. I'm not that great, but they're still fun to draw and look like who they're supposed to be.
One word of advice is, search with more keywords than you think you need. Because if you don't, the results could scar you.
