"They're soo freakin' good" sums it up nicely indeed... The acoustic-ish version of "Guy I Used to Be" is even more mind-blowing! "How are they not more famous?" That's the same bloody question I keep asking myself over and over. Loved your reaction!
The acoustic versions have no edits in the videos, which means that there are no overdubs or edits in the audio. No autotune. What you see and hear is how it went down. Then there's the arrangements (Clyde's doing). Just amazing.
Marc Lawrence is the father of Clyde, Grace and Linus. He has produced many films starring Sandra Bullock including Miss Congeniality. Clyde helped write some of the music on this film when he was just 5 years old.
I found them a few years ago and became an instant fan. Amazing live group.. the normal band (non-acoustic versions), is mostly childhood friends of theirs.. all great musicians. I would definitely check out any and all of their acoustic versions. Great reactions- thank you
How are they not more famous? They don't want to sign with a major label because they do it all by themselves among friends. All of it. So, they don't get the big label push. All of the listens and views, all of the booked venues: They did that by themselves.
You need to check out their song "Whatcha Want", then watch their live performance of the same on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Kimmel, you can thank me later. Also check out "Do" on the CBS Saturday morning show.
Welcome to the family business! Clyde and Gracie Lawrence are siblings that front an 8 member band out of NY. All the other band members have been friends they have picked up growing up, from middle school all the way through Clyde's time in college. Gracie joined full time after HS and they are on album #4 (the second under Bellion's label). They recently performed on the Tonight Show, Kelly Clarkson (Whatcha Want, from your other reaction), they've opened for the Jonas Brothers this last year and just a few months ago, opened for the Rolling Stones in NY. They have been featured on Jacob Collier's latest album, and Gracie is featured on Meghan Trainor's latest album (Crushin'). They just started the US leg of their headline tour and will most certainly be in your neck of the woods. As much fun as the songs are, they really really shine live. They do not use any backing tracks, and everyone in the band is multi talented. The Acoustic-ish versions of the songs are a pretty decent example of the live feeling, but these sessions involve singing with a group of backup vocalists that are not normally part of the normal show. Still, fire sessions every time. You could easily just spiral down the rabbit hole with all of their stuff. More Gracie: 23, Freckles, The Weather More Clyde: Guy I used to be, False Alarms, Casualty More both: The Heartburn Song, Superficial, It's not all about you, Hip Replacement

Barry Manilow key change FTW
The live acoustic version is better.
We’ll have to give it a listen
