    Be careful! I did that after a fall. Turned out I'd fractured my spine but was just tricking my body into thinking my back was just sore. 11 years later I still struggle

    Told my best friend not to do something similar once. She didn't listen. 2 hours later we're riding to a vet because it's the closest doctor that we could ride a horses to.
    I don't know what hurt worse, discovering that her knee was dislocated and cracked, or getting slapped after I offered her a sugar cube when she did good with the X-ray machine

    I did exactly that after a really bad fall and was unconscious for a few moments and couldn’t see clearly after being trampled by a supposedly family safe pony i was trying out for loaning. Be very careful

    Hey! You've got two of those legs. It just so happens that the one that's working is your favorite. Seriously, listen to your body. If you can't bear weight or walk on a leg, you need to have it looked at. Or have it taken off and grow another one - I don't think that works with humans. An equestrian needs both her legs just like a horse needs all four of theirs. Don't go into your next show with five out of six legs.

    Keeping moving is generally good, but please be careful. Particularly protective posture can become a problem in the long term. I injured my left knee 15 years ago, and moving it too early meant that my knee got better relatively quickly, but I now have a chronic misalignment in both hip joints.

    @stacyenzmann1230 5 месяцев назад +1

    As a person who does a high impact sport as well as ride, I find often when my leg is suffering from soreness and injury, light riding (in the dressage saddle or stirrupless!) actually allows the leg to move without re-injury and speeds up recovery.

    I fell decades ago in a bad fall over a jump - my fault. I bruised my hip which was swollen to the size of a cantalope, dislocated two fingers, and did damage to my knee and spine. Decades later that same hip has to be replaced, the fingers are arthritic, and my knee still hurts terribly during cold weather. You are not tricking your leg, you are simply making your 60 or 70 year old self want to kick your foolish 30 something butt -- more than once. I overdid it after the fall -- BIG MISTAKE!!!

    Hehehehe this is sooooo relatable!!!!!! I came off and broke my tailbone. Walked the three miles back to the barn, waited a month and a half until a handful of ibuprofen (I refuse to take anything stronger) was enough to make sitting -tolerable- and jumped back on bareback with half a bottle in my system XD No wonder the darn thing still gives me problems a year later.

    Use the muscles or lose them. But don't over use. Try some Arnica Montana cream to help reduce the bruises and swelling. I use the cream every day for osteoarthritis and bruises.

    Maybe ride Saddleseat because in Saddleseat, you kind of flip your leg over and they do use their whip as their other leg so might be a good idea, but might be a bad idea, but be careful

  • @lisahenry20

    It's not entirely the same, but I've found that when I get a blister but still have to be on my feet, the worst thing I can do is try to keep weight off it. When I get a blister on a walk and I'm 2+ hours away from home, I can't try sitting down for a bit. If I do, it's way more painful for 30+ mins when I start walking again until I get used to it and it stops being so bad. The second day after a blister is the worst, that first step after a night off your feet is awful.

    Yup. Exactly! I rode for 2 months with a fractured L4 & L5 after my horse tossed me. It can be done. Not well. And not always smartly. But it can be done. And that’s what separates horse people from wannabe be horse people. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

    Honestly, that’s how some (not all) injuries make your body stronger and heal faster. Use it or lose it, and further, if it’s in use it’s of use. Be smart about it, but yes you could be a medical genius about your leg lol
