The Paras hold such respect and status even within the Army. My Royal Engineers Squadron were attached to a Para Regiment and it was a privilege. They are professionals, every one of them knew the objective, inquisitive and keen to learn, self-sufficient even to the point of doing our jobs for us! Massive respect.
As a nipper in the seventies I watched them drop into our local park during a show. After they landed I ran up to one and cheekily asked for his expended smoke canister as a souvenir. Can’t remember if he gave it to me or not though!
Hang on when you are talking about paratroopers and the picture on the screen is a tank, that is a big strange. They can't jump out of an airplane with a tank. Surely the tank doesn't belong to the paratroopers.
That's a pretty sad attempt at trolling, then again walts do many pathetic things in order to pretend they served....did you get your maroon lid on ebay or at Silverman's?
@@AirplaneDoctor_ Dunno about the others....I got mine at Vincenza. This was when the 1/509 ABCT was stuck at Caserma Ederle and Before the small airport just outside of town was taken over. I keep remembering the time during a Practice Jump I nearly landed near the Then Tennis courts.
Vastly over rated troops. They have only won 2 engagements. The Bruneval raid - a small skirmish action against rear element engineers/technicians at the radar station. Then the Falklands. D-Day was a damp squib - landed too dispersed. Sicily just a failure many landed in the sea.. Arnhem a failure failed to seize their objective. The paras do like to live on the dream of being shock troops. They are nothing without RAF crews except well trained infantry.
@@Bullet-Tooth-Tony- Indeed the Falklands was a clear and important victory. The SS might have been impressed, nevertheless they failed to achieve their objective.
@@jjsmallpiece9234 The last one is sad because if it all went right, the whole operation could have knocked months off the war and saved so many lives. Market Garden was so close to succeeding.
Not sure what the purpose of this post is, rated, underated, overated... they fight for us and we are proud of them... let's keep the negativity to the enemy thanks cheers
I have a wonderful memory of seeing the Red Devils at Middle Wallop while my father was stationed there, it must have been the very late sixties, they were terrific. Not forgetting the Blue Eagles helicopter display team, a Sioux landed, someone jumped out with a big key, wound it up, and off it flew again! Brilliant stuff to a young sprout. Thank you very much & a very happy birthday.
What are the chances?! It's the paras birthday and here I am drinking a bottle of Black Label. May as well finish it! I toast this bottle to ye! Happy Birthday Parachute Regiment!!
A great shame that such professional and courageous individuals. Have such ideotic and corrupted so called political elite....... This really has to..... Change..... for the well being of the people and the future of the nation*

Christ some of these berets are shocking . The RSM of 2 para needs briefing up big time
🤣🤣 I was thinking the same.
Not one mention of all the Op Herricks we did ? 2006 was one of our best examples of going up against overwhelming odds.
Quite sure the Taliban haven't forgotten! 😂
The Red Devils:
*Africa, Italy, France, the legendary stand at Arnhem and much more.*
Tipping my cap, an American Para.
Hello from Ukraine
hello from russia
3rd battalion should wear one star on their Naffi suits then they won’t have the jitters as much
Clearly not the best of the best when it comes to shaping berets

Goose Green is impressive though and their last stand at Arnhem won the respect of the German SS.

@@Bullet-Tooth-Tony- Indeed, the failures of Market Garden are well know. Too much had to go right for the operation to succeed
