Most countries have women in their army ranks. Why should the UK be any different? It is however incorrect to say that women should pass the same tests as men, as women are less physically robust. Thus, press-ups should be the female version, as should assault courses. Women have a different build to men, and this must be taken into account. When it comes to leadership , intellectual skills and ability to live in the open, women must be able to pass the same tests as men. Women are an excellent addition to the British Army. I love to see them in action. Very well done!

@@LaHayeSaint they don’t need to be the fittest, but they need to be at the same level as the rest, and if they’ve done less training and worse tests they are not on the same level, the whole idea of passing out is based on everyone passing the same standard no matter what might get in the way
@LaHayeSaint I have served with female soldiers, they were attached arms. The majority could not keep up and were a burden when we did PT, especially in full gear. We had to keep going back for them. The fitness requirements must be kept the same depending on job role. War does not become softer on you depending on gender. I'd like the person next to me to be able to carry as much ammo and kit as is required and able to casivac a colleague regardless of gender. I have been on tours and I know. Male or female, pass the requirements, if you are unable to, get a job that's less physically demanding in a support role and not front line.
Sometimes, it’s necessary to adjust standards temporarily to attract a broader range of recruits, which can have long-term benefits. For example, if more women join, it creates visible role models for others, encouraging wider participation. Afterward, standards can be re-adjusted again as needed. Additionally, we need to recognize that times are changing-fewer people may want to join the military, and recruitment strategies must reflect that reality. So, please, let’s move away from overly simplistic comments about standards and focus on the bigger picture.
Great point and absolutely right, don't want to be like Russia and the like where the only people in the Military are people let out of prison early or forcing people into the Army for a certain number of years.

Hi Colin I'm the Series Producer of these films and I'd like to take issue with your comments. The British Army decided to recruit women decades ago and to expand still further to let women serve in combat roles almost ten years ago . The thinking which informed that decision was partly about equality and diversity but also operational effectiveness, something the Commandant of Sandhurst and other senior members of staff personally told us is greatly improved by having women serving alongside men. Staff talk a lot about training being "safer but tougher", creating a safer environment doesn't mean training can't be tough, and this is certainly not about women breaking "generations of custom and pracice" . More seriously are you actually suggesting by dint of serving in a mixed environment inappropriate relationships should be expected or tolerated? I think your comments are out of step and offensive.

They would be expected to. Leading teams and will be collaborating internationally at the highest level with US forces etc. Need a smart, articulate and well presented individual to represent UK.
This is exactly how I envision a British women's military recruitment ad.
Regardless of gender, can they fight with bayonets (as required in an incident in Iraq)?
They can, of course, learn the basics, but it's a perishable skill. To be proficient, at least one full day a month, for those most likely to engage. Otherwise, bayonet training twice a year will suffice. From an Army Infantry Staff Sergeant.
And Afghanistan - many times.
Great little series. I would have liked them to interview a woman of colour amongst these lady warriors. It would have added a broader spectrum of female voices, especially those woman from under-represented groups. All in all, I love the focus on lady warriors as we don't hear enough from them. Please do more. Cheers.
The armed forces take any volunteer then it is up to them to prove worthy of the costly training . Ordnance is not designed to differentiate between gender and ethnicity 😢 we all bleed when shot 😢
Really expect women to take on men in combat ? War is not an equal opportunity employer.
Just because you are a woman does not mean that you are an inherently worse fighter or weaker. There are women stronger than men despite that being less common. Also, adding more perspectives to a group can strengthen it.
So Israeli women don't fight?
@@ColinAnderson-hy2oj They don’t put women in front line combat roles, they tried. They found they were a liability and the casualty rates of their unit’s unacceptable. So where you find IDF women in a firefight the💩 has really hit the fan.

If they are there on their own merit and do what the blokes do, then fine (ish). But to do the ridiculous DEI thing and LOAD the college with 30% women, that’s wrong.
Thanks for your comment. To clarify, the overall number of women attending Sandhurst isn't any higher, they're just putting more women together in platoons, eg rather than allocating them equally across 6 platoons they put higher numbers of women in just 3 platoons, so that's how they get from 10% to 30%. The entry standards remain the same with everyone meeting the same tests. Hope that clears that up.
Up the Ma'ams!
Meet the standards is what matters regardless of gender. Good luck to all of you and thanks for your service. Greetings from Mexico City.
Yo... the British military got better stache than we do
Serve to lead !!!!!
If they raised the number of females accepted then that means they lowered the number of males who were probably more qualified. That is unacceptable and sad and nothing to brag about.
Given the army's previous attitudes and MO towards women, I would say to any woman considering a career in the army that you will still be subject to sexual harassment, probable assault and savage bullying if you complain about said harassment and assault. The army cannot change it's spots and although top brass talk the talk they are unwilling to drive change. Think carefully before signing up.
What utter tosh... we wouldn't last 5 minutes. We were driven out of Iraq & Afghanistan with our tail between our legs. If the Yanks didn't give us kit we'd be stuffed. I say this as a 34 year veteran with a disillusion daughter in the FAA, who positively refuses to be a poster girl.

Better still when our illustrious RN couldn't navigate with dodgy maps and got caught by the Iranians in their waters and the Royals burst into tears when the Republican Guard nicked their Blackberries plus the Iranian President criticised us for "sending the mother of a child into a battlefield!" Don't get me wrong, I'm on our side, but the only reason this 'recruiting' drive is happening is the blokes today have seen the light and aren't joining. As Col Tim Collins states...
They definitely should pass the same physical tests now theyre allowed in combat roles, imagine being on operations and knowing your platoon commander can’t do the same obstacle course as a male one
@@lachlanchester8142 Lachlanchester -- The Pl Cmdr hasn't got to be the fittest person in the platoon. They must, however, have a basic army level of fitness so they can keep up and control their part of the battle. Women should not be expected to carry the GPMG on a route march, but be fully competent at WHSTs, firing and stripping/assembling/oiling the weapon.
@@LaHayeSaint they don’t need to be the fittest, but they need to be at the same level as the rest, and if they’ve done less training and worse tests they are not on the same level, the whole idea of passing out is based on everyone passing the same standard no matter what might get in the way
Send them to women only wars as well
@LaHayeSaint I have served with female soldiers, they were attached arms.

Shake and Bake officers
