@@mary-bridgetfasciano9970 before I forget the next intro you should do instead of the 007 was maybe The Mary Bridget. Like in college football when they say The Ohio State.
I really have been wanting to try 1792, I'm younger, 26. I just started working a liquor store over Christmas and have consumed so much knowledge, I found my love for Bourbon through my father who knows so much. It's so nice seeing all the allocated bottles we get that most people may not even see in their lifetime. We've had some really amazing bottles come through, like a Pappy 20 year, we have a 12 year right now, some Blanton's, EH Taylor and a bunch more. We actually were very blessed to recently be given a Single Barrel Buffalo Trace, we bought the whole barrel. We also have a 114 Proof Oak & Eden single barrel that is to die for, so smooth and beautiful. And for a new pallet, I really am liking the 114, surprised I enjoy it after all the videos and knowledge I've gained, apparently most people work their ways up. Right now the strongest I've had is a 125 proof, looking forward to see what my future will bring. Thank you for this video, subscribed and liked! God Bless.
So nice to meet Mary Bridget 🙂. 1792 small batch is my favorite sipper (this week). Two hours ago I walked away from a single barrel full proof offered for $48. Single barrels worry me. Blending can pull some levers to make corrections. I think I'll keep waiting for a BiB or a cask strength small batch (if there is such a thing). For now just keep loving the standard small batch.
Some wise words here with many small batch offerings vs. single barrel pick variation. It’s kind of like, if you want to pull the slot machine lever and knowing that potential outcomes or keeping your wallet close and going home early.
Give others a chance this drawing! I love how your sister was like "well I've already been drinking, so why not make some videos." Off the top of my head, Eagle Rare is my favorite $40 bourbon. I'm sure there are others. but that's my recommendation.
Like always, I appreciate the support. I have you down for two entries. Good luck! Eagle Rare, Four Roses, and Russell's 10 seem to be a popular choice for the $40 bourbon. Sometime in June I'll have that flight going also.
I’ve been told at my local Total Wine that representatives come in with samples from the single barrels available, and there is a total wine tasting committee. They all taste and then put in their selection for which barrel, and then it gets chosen. Then after all the labeling gets applied and bottle ends up in store.
This 1792 bottled in bond is great. Though, I've had a Specs pick (TX) that was better than the Total Wine pick. One of my go-to bottles at the price. Cheers!
It is a good one for sure. I did a sip or skip episode with the Total Wine pick a few months back and I would still pick this one over that one even though the TW pick was a sip as well.
Nice review! 1792 are nice pours! My favorite is the full proof then the 12yr! My go to 35-45 dollar bottles would be: J J Bowman SB Michters core lineup Redwood Empire Lost Monarch Redwood Empire Pipe Dream J Daniels SB select Four Roses SB Heaven Hill B in B Legent Bardstown origin series
Great video!! Excellent to see the interaction between you guys !! 👍🏻 I just picked this bottle up. I wasn’t to sure if I should, but I thought I’d give it a try.
A giveaway would be great if it's a single malt scotch, I don't care too much for bourbons, It's nice to see your sister, she bring a great dynamic to the show. Although I have not tried the 1792 I did get a Eagle Rare 10 and Elijah Craig BP for about 40 bucks which I like a lot.
Well, I will have 10 single malts covered in May and my Frist Friday Flight Fight starts off the month of June with a flight of GlenDronach. I will try to have a good balance of all the different types of whisk(e)y I have in my collection each month so it resonates with people.
You will be happy to know Mary-Bridget will be with me for the Sip It or Skip It episodes in June. The videos are already shot and in the queue to be released. I am even trying to get her involved with some Monday and Friday videos as well.
Only had the Small Batch. 3 weeks ago, I got a Full Proof store pick from one of my fave liquor stores and it's phenomenal. 1792 also has a 'Sweet Wheat' that I want to try as well as this BiB but haven't seen them in Oregon. Bardstown BiB so far my fave BIB ($47 in CA) stuck it in my checked luggage bag.
Interesting. I had not had the 1972 BiB. I thought the small batch was fair. At >$30, I thought it competitive. I love the Full Proof was an amazing bottle.
You both sound like you just got back from a "Happy Hour" 😄. Mary Bridget, you're a breath of fresh air..!!! 🥃🌹 There are quite a few $40-ish bourbons I would choose over the 1792... Those I currently enjoy are Russell's Reserve 10, Eagle Rare 10, WR Double Oaked and Still Austin Straight.

Very nice video and welcome back to Mary! I like 1792 BIB! How it compares to the Single Barrel? I am thinking to grab me a SB, which I have never tried. My favorite $40ish bottle is Russelle's Reserve Single Barrel Rye.
Great video. I am a fan of 1792 BIB. I am currently sipping on a 1792 North Carolina store pick. My go to $40 picks are: Eagle Rare, Russell’s Reserve 10 year, wild Turkey Rare Breed, Four Roses single barrel, and Michter’s bourbon.
I know store picks are desired because they're selected, and you assume the selection will give you something better or more unique, but in my limited experience of store picks vs the standard shelf bottles, I've never preferred a store pick. Taste's and bottles will always vary, and there's no doubt some store picks are truly special, I'm just not as keen to pay the usual price hike for them.
Hard to say as I don’t have too many in that price range. If we are talking $35 to $45, at this point, it VERY recently became EH Taylor Small Batch. In descending order after that, Four Roses SmB, Bardstown BiB Origin, Eagle Rare. Another one could be Balcones Lineage. Balcones Rye could be a contender (and I’m NOT a rye fan).
BIB is a great equalizer for bourbon. If I could do it all over again I would journey thru the 50% world. My one bottle of 1792 full proof is a store pick and it's really woody. $40 is an interesting price point because it's not a lot but it's not the low end either. I just saw that my local shop has Stellum for $44. .....sorry, you see, I always go for the cask strength.
I have been wanting to try 1792 but wasn’t sure which offering to go for. Now I do! Yes, a blind of your favorite 40 ish $ bottles would be great. Me, I have been drinking bourbon less than a year and have only tried at most a dozen different bottles. My 3 favorites so far are all at the $40 mark. 1. Russell’s Reserve 10 year 2. Knob Creek 9 year 3. Redwood Empire Pipe Dreams. I want to try Bardstown Origin series and Greenriver that are at that $40 sweet spot. A local Costco (Alabama) has Wild Turkey Rare Bread for $42. That is a killer price but have not picked one up yet. I have been sitting on a Knob Creek 12 year for at least three months and it is Super hard to find in Alabama. It is the only “expensive to me” bottle I have. I happened to have finally opened it last night. Of course it is my new favorite. Oh, I am excited to try to win some of your monthly samples. A great way to try new stuff.

For someone who isn't a massive Bourbon lover I loved all of these! Peter I love your term - "An Inviting Whisky!!" Your BIL John sounds awesome too!! It's definitely a softer 50% ABV! Not a fan, have a store pick and non store pick. Prefer single barrel, full proof, sweet wheat, small batch, 12 year 1792s over the bib. Weakest link.
I will eventually be doing a First Friday Flight Fight with all of the 1792s I have. It will be interesting to see how it all plays out.
Total wine and more picks suck
I think my hit rate with them is about 50/50. I need to look, but I think that is close.
I’ve had better luck with Specs Store picks. They seem to do a better job
Older sister or younger? She's acting like an older sister!
I'm the youngest of 4. Mary- Bridget is 1 year older than me.
Fwiw, I like 1792 BIB more than E.H.Taylor. I've confirmed this blind. Definitely one that everyone should try
That sounds like a good blind. I will throw that into my sample pool.
Mary Bridget and Peter you are both so awesome!! I just know I could sit down with you both with a whisky of choice for all of us and we'd have a fabulous conversation! You are good people!! By the way I think your idea for whisky give aways is terrific Peter but I am in Vancouver so not eligible but keep mentioning the idea! As more people hear they might express terrific support! I love 1792 and I have had this amazing expression that you are both enjoying and I have had the High Rye (love it!!) Aged Twelve Years, Port Finish (lovely!!) and the Single Barrel!! For someone who isn't a massive Bourbon lover I loved all of these! Peter I love your term - "An Inviting Whisky!!" Your BIL John sounds awesome too!! It's definitely a softer 50% ABV! I like the finish - hey it's pretty good! I am thrilled Marty Bridget chose this beauty!! Love the comparison! Very interesting! If you find the 12 yo and Port Finish they are worth trying - for sure! I think you would both enjoy them!! Not what the 'select' means - as to who selected and for what! Fab human beings!! This is such a terrific channel!! Hey if you both have Netflix check out Baby Reindeer - everyone is finding it fascinating and you want to keep watching! As a psychologist I am so fascinated!! Mary Bridget you are so right on that saying, "Cheers" is critical - a must!! Have a great day you two!! Cheers!! 🙂
Thank you for all the support and comments over the months. I appreciate all the kind words. I have Mary-Bridget for the rest of the sip or skip episodes for the month. Such a great time when she is here.
@@whiskeyisajourney You are so welcome Peter! Love you two! I can see how much fun you have together!! 🙂
Thank you! I think we bring out the best in each other. It's an added bonus that we also really, really enjoy each other's company. It's nice that people enjoys watching the two of us together. I have not checked out Baby Reindeer, but people keep talking about it, so I will definitely give it a go! thanks for watching, supporting and commenting. It would be fun to sit down with some subscribers and have an adult beverage and see where the conversation leads. I'm sure there is a way to do that via tech! I'm just not a tech person. I leave that to Peter and my husband! Cheers!
@@mary-bridgetfasciano9970 Such a lovely reply Mary Bridget! It would be fun! Enjoy the journey of finding delicious whisky! It's a blast! Be well!!
Thanks!
Thanks KeLorean. I have you in for 1 entry in September. Best of luck. I appreciate the support.
