Anybody else dreaming of a warm, sunny beach to escape the cold? Too bad this beach only exists in Cities: Skylines. Recommend us some of your favorite beaches in the comments below!
I like these videos! They are SO much better than the standard 'corporate tutorial' videos where a relatively uneducated representative goes on for 2 hours explaining how to plop roads and how to set a budget.
What a nice edition to the whole support of the game is this channel, bringin in all the youtubers together! One of the best supported city building games
They have some assets on Steam for beaches like life guard towers, umbrellas, surf boards, beach bars, and more. Sadly when you zoom in your beach looks like everyone vanished. I zone the beaches as park areas and use the invisible paths mod for the beach. Being a person that has lived on the coast and prefers to live near the ocean, I would love if they would just implement a beach DLC. One where you can adjust average water temperature, adjust wave intensity in case you want surfing beach or just a quiet beach, get more beach concerts, Spring break events, easily ploppable beach bars or restaurants, people swimming in the water, surf events, sporting events like international volleyball tournaments, and the usual obnoxious advertising planes or blimps you see at beaches. I see this game as all conceptual, anyhow, where the city you build is not an exact replica of the what your city would look like in RL, but the general concept of how it would look. Obviously in RL buildings would have more detail and beaches would be crowded.
@@Kehwanna this. A million times this. I always had this kind of content in my mind too. Make beaches lifelike. Or grow according to the density and land value, like zones do. Imagine how cool it would be to have a more rich area style beach, full of jetskis, restaurants, good sidewalks and etc, tourist beaches with boats doing rounds around it for tourists, or like u said, beach parties, shows and etc...and then calmer options with only ppl from the region, families and etc. I stopped buying expacs the moment I noticed they won't bring us decent beaches. I live in Brazil, I know how cool a city can turn with beaches as the main attraction. Building a Rio de Janeiro inspired city would be SO AWESOME.
Fluxtrance is the master of terrain tools if you have seen some of his remarkable series on RUclips! I’ve learned quite a lot of useful techniques from him.
Thank you! I am working on a map with LOTS of beachfront, and this is going to be most helpful. ETA - I applied some of the techniques to the map and they look great. 👍👍👍
It would be just nice if people would actually go to the beaches by designating the beach as a park or so. It also would be nice if buildings like the fishing pier didn´t need road access when I build them on the beach.
Love this channel and the tutorials are really helpful! It’s really nice to see youtubers from the community get involved in these videos too (so excited to see flux back!) keep it up!
They should add beach under the 'park' category so that players can zone a beach like a park and add stuff. Like with the park dlc. Don't understand how they could include a tivoli and nature reserve but not a beach.
It would be nice if there were completely unmodded official tutorials released. There are some youtubers who have done vanilla tutorials in the past, but after updates they may not be accurate anymore.
Add it to where we can make American style roads and add American homes, and make it a mode, also add it to when it rains water rises, and add different kinds of highways.
Beach look realistic but the grass meets sand but should be more dramatic - from someone who live sin Australia and has seen countless of different beaches with similar styles.
can you make a second channel about building a city because you would have the best city trust me this happened to a youtuber and it was succes for him.
Can someone PLEASE tell me what mods to download to make my city look real with color and props. I am having a hard time finding all these special Mods that change the look
No expert here, but since none have answered yet i'd give it a go For a good look (like you want) you mostly don't need mods, just a good LUT and MapTheme. Check the Workshop for some really great ones. That should drastically increase the looks of everything. In the Video he uses the "Seychelles LUT" and "Seychelles Map Theme" as you see at 0:42. Regarding mods "Relight" and/or "Daylight Classic" are my GoToOptions. Just have a quick look in the Workshop and you'll find them. Hope I could help (:
Back when I bought it for ps4 I didn't want to install games on my pc... Now I have committed to the second season pass and somehow I have 20+ games installed on my pc... I wish Ps4 would support modding.
Im sorry if i sound rude but why are you showing tutorials that use mods that are only avaiable on pc? Im on xbox and i feel sad because i could make amazing landscapes with the mods you just showed us but i cant because they are pc only. And dont say buy the pc version because i had to buy 2 season passes just to get the dlcs i wanted.
They just released a tutorial for console, literally their last video, did you see it? Additionally, since the majority of their players are PC players, most of their tutorials are geared towards PC players. It's just a matter of demand.
Elektrix then make the console edition better. It’s not fair. My computer isn’t any good for any kind of games it’s only for work so I use my xbox for games
Just to let you all know i love city skylines especially ever since they added the ability to become a person or vehicle in spectator mode, but it hurts to see that pc gets all of these cool mods and dlc but everyone who plays console have to wait what feels like years, i mean nuclear disasters didnt come to consoles until park life came out on pc. Not only that but do we have to buy not 1 but 2 season passes to get everything in advance. I am not rich, i cant go out to the store and buy a gaming pc to play with these mods let alone buy the game and the dlcs again. #stopconsoleignorance
@@robj1510 console version was released 2 years late, so you should expect 2 year delay in improvements as well. Unless they manage to catch up which doesn't seem realistic. The way i see it the console version is more of a leisure city simulation game whereas the PC version is more hardcore city building game. PC for aesthetics, console for simulation/gameplay. Believe it or not, you probably run the game better than i do on PC. Consoles are essentially budget gaming machines with a focus on graphics, they lack processing power. We play with mods but also sacrifice FPS down to 7-15 fps. Do you think that would be an enjoyable experience for console?
This is great but its all form and no function. All those props and no one actually visits the beach, it draws no tourism and generates no extra income.
I recentlly reinstalled City Skylines and I had 30-50 fps without mods on my 970. Plopping a bunch of assets like in this video would make the game unplayable. Well it's already unplayable for me, I will not play a game under 60fps.
For reference, I was running a GTX 970 when creating this video! Framerate does become an issue over time, but it's just due to the sheer number of objects placed. It's not really a matter of optimization in that regard. There are definitely things you can do to avoid creating areas that dip hard in framerate. Might be something worth exploring in a future tutorial?

Yeah he said on Twitter
Great as always Flux. Hey Colossal, can we get working beaches please. :-)

Maybe it is possible to create assets for park districts so it looks like a beach
make your beach a park add invisible paths. or you can use dirt path and use surface painter to cover it. add a few things to bring the people down
