Hi! I did have some problems with the alternator at first and some other side problems aswell. The engine was in a very good condition. Too bad I had bought this car poorly maintained. When you find a well serviced car the should be pretty reliable, some simple parts are easy to replace (filters, sparkplugs and lightbulbs). To drive it is fantastic, direct steering, good riding comfort on the motorway (firm suspension but still very comfortable). Low engine noise and wind noise, and not to forget: fantastic seats and a good driving position. I don't have the car anymore and I still sometimes miss it. Greetz, Steve. :)
Steve Meister I currently have a mk3 2.0 ghia x 5 speed manual which currently averages 8.4l per 100k or approx 33mpg combined so I should imagine the auto version is pretty horrible on petrol, ford quote 27mpg combined but I've heard horror stories of just 19mpg!! I've seen one on top spec with just 53,000 miles for £2000.
Hi Alex, fuel consumtion in town is about 1L for 8km, combined (town and highway) 1L for 10.5/11km, and highway 1L for 14/14.5km when driving a 100kmh on cruisecontrol (flat surface).
I have one and mines sucks badly, first it leaks oil the block. 2 gas mileage horrible i drive 1L on 6/7 km and on the highway max 1 on 11. The acc is slow as fuck i have had a audi a4 wich was 20 years old and on his last feet and stil is faster than the ford wich is newer and has a bigger engine and now i am saving up to sel this piece of shit
TheGetTricky Well, I'm already 2 cars ahead haha :) this mondeo didn't leak oil but alot other issues I did have. I bought a peugeot 207 last year and it did just fine, now I'm getting a vw passat next week :)
