Thanks mate
@@mullerj143 :)
Awesome, thanks for that tip.
holy shit
Listening to this guy makes me feel like I'm sitting in Harward University of Music Production... Thanks a lot for enlightening the music world...
lmao
For real lol
This brother sounds so fuckig professional bro
Facts
Yh, A lot of other RUclips producers (no disrespect) either exaggerates their voices or just do goofy things that I can even take them seriously.
You are giving out information that people keep secret. Thank you for being you Mike!
Aaron Boccio Just being honest! No worries :)

@@inthemix thanks for everything brother 🙏❤️
Yeah exactly those who know they dont share. May be you become much better than them.
Mastering and Mixing can be the most fun part but it's also very discouraging if you can't quite get the sound you want.
It’s certainly can be fun, usually takes me 3 months to get a track that I’m happy with trying different build ups and drops and getting ready for real realise and sometimes can be frustrating, but with certain plugins and side compression it helps, keep going until you’re happy with your song and it’s about self satisfaction, before getting other listeners to listen
Ik how that feels 😭
@@danquay9504 3 months is too long tho ngl
@@user-rf4vc7mt4d First song I made took over 49 hours and I regret nothing 😂😂. I've learnt a lot since then, so should be a lot quicker to make stuff now
@@absterdam9795 wow for learning purposes taking all the time you need must've been very helpful
I love how you take your time at the beginning to explain that this is just a beginner's tutorial and that professional mastering by experienced people really is something else. I mastered my own album recently and though it worked out fine, I realise my skills are nowhere near those of a professional. Mastering is a hard skill to master!
Sixth Floor Memories it is indeed! I'm trying my best to not mislead anyone especially as the channel grows. I want as little confusion as possible :)
That seems to be the proper way of teaching these things in my opinion. Also, mastering my own songs was definitely made easier by using the Youlean Loudness meter you mentioned here and in a previous video. Great stuff!
ayy I see what you did there at the end hehe
@@sixthfloormemories1566 man I WILL definitely follow ur album and also search Lystormdr or go to my channel and then go to my Spotify and enjoy

It clicked with me finally....I have ADHD and have trouble with online learning, except with you. There is something about the rhythm and tone of your voice that makes my brain follow. Extremely well organized and detailed to boot, nice work man.
i also have ADHD
@@ShadowBeats1 Same, definite visual learner
22:51 Thank you so much for saying this.. That lesson doesn't just apply to music, but to other aspects of life as well. You're one of the best music production teachers on RUclips.
💯
This tutorial really helped me a lot. I've watched a good number of tutorials on mastering but none of them could do anything much for me. Thanks for making this tutorial

i was always afraid of watching mastering tutorial videos because of how people would talk about mastering but u made the process look insanely easy and I understand the basics now. thank you for the content!!
This is a topic I need much more education with, but its a start. Thank you.-

I came back here to throw this second comment cuz I spent my entire day on FL, apply these tips and I got instant result.
How did I do I?
I took 3 songs and observed their waveforms on the spectrum analyzer you used here; mario - let me love, craig david - walking away and one Afro-pop instrumental. Was looking at both the frequency distribution and the peak loudness ratio of the high, mid and low bands. The low end had more gain, follow by the high, then mid. I then added an EQ and did a low cut, I moved it across until I could hear how it sounds on small playback devices like mobile phone. Listening to that low cut enabled me to adjust my beat to sound good on my phone and computer speaker.
Just to amplify my gratitude 🙏
This man has given to everything to everyone for free and open with these videos. Honestly, this man is a god send for us trying to learn and grow.
I love this song. Also, "In the Mix" is the best tutorial channel I've ever seen. I've been producing since some of you were little kids. I'm so impressed with your knowledge and ability to convey information.
Big words for someone looking like a kid 😂
Damn unc
Every time I look something about music production up, I cross my fingers that the video I click on is made by you. Thank you so much for everything you've taught me!
A year and a half into making my own music now and mixing and mastering STILL kills me. This video has helped me get started. I hope I can get better at it one day (I wayyyyyyyyy prefer making music to the knob tweaking stage!)
I honestly used to absolutely dread the mixing and mastering stage of making music but this made it so much more doable and interesting
Brooooo you have no idea how much you are helping the game right now
I have a final mastering project due in tomorrow. Thank you for this video, it really helped me out.
nigdy nie czułam się bardziej patriotycznie robiąc muzykę
Holy cow! This video addressed lots of problems I had ... Noone told me that tonal balance is a key to make things sound good on mulitple systems. Noone told me the -14LUFS thing for streaming, and noone told me to make sure to leave some conversion headroom.
All things I uploaded to soundclound got those artifacts and strange distortions..
Thank you so much!
I love this man so fggin much!!!! Like he’s literally taught me everything I know about producing and now mastering like insane!! He will be blessed for his stewardship
holy shit that youlean loudness meter plugin and advice on LUFS has really changed the game for me dude. good stuff.
Funny how i go back to your old tutorials just to remember the basics of music ❤ thank a lot. All the way from SA.
@inthemix bro your channel is god given man, I just got FL studio this year and have been producing dope stuff already and your channel is a huge blessing! Keep doing your thing man! 🙌🙌
I'm absolutely new to mastering and I basically wrote down everything he said with pictures in a notebook because this sounds like a new language to me. Its now been 2 hours and this makes a hell a lot more sense and I think I can actually pull it off. thanks for the video man and gl to me lol.
Can not put into words how helpful this is, having so much fun playing around with it too!
Cheers Michael!
Little tip:
-Put the song you are mastering on Chanel 1 and add al your effects there, so you can put your meters on to the master and also munitor the reference track's. You can switch between your song and the reference track way faster this way.
-Limit the track bevor you eq. The limiter still is last in the effect chain, but you put it on there bevore you eq. Limiting changes a sound quite a bit and eventually destroyes all the hard work you have done with the eq.
thanks for the tip
This guy just seems like a genuine nice person
I don't know if you still check the comments on this video, but beastmode teaching, soaked up the knowledge like a charm and you're very well spoken. Really appreciate the tips and tricks!
Thanks,I really appreciate the kind words :)
Wow! It works! The first time i tried it took forever to activate and when I disabled my antivirus it worked like in less than a minute! Thanks bro!

ever since i started watching your tutorials my music is becoming better, all the way from south africa
I'm guitarist and was looking to start studio stuy from somewhere and then I found you here. Your tutorials really helping me to get in right direction. Thankyou so much for what u are doing.
Instead of keep copying/pasting the original value on the automation it's sometimes really useful to just double click on the automation and paste the value on the MAX knob. That way you just have to move the entire automation up at its maximum to have the default maximum value you pasted in.
You genuinely make the learning process more interesting, fun and less daunting and confusing. Your teaching method is very easy to understand as well and I've learned so much useful and vital things for producing. Thank you for the quality content and the fact that its offered for free, so it can get to as many people as possible. Commendable work really!
ngl Michael's voice is so professional it's like listening to a university professor majoring in music. this is so informative
Best tutorial out there! you really inspired me to go back to fl to learn more, I got lazy and procrastinated on my past projects because i was frustrated and stuck on how to get my beats to a decent volume and turned my back on them the past couple of months. Love that you're explaining these complex things in a very easy to understand way. Thank you so much for your content, I wouldn't be able to try again without seeing this vid.
Many Mastering Engineers rely on their headphones. Mostly open back headphones. This way you can make sure your room doesn't fool your hearing and you can make choices more confident especially with EQs and Compression/ Limiting because the smaller membrane can make distortion more audible.
Quick pro tip for that automation clip in the intro section! If you bring up the channel window for for your automation clip (find and select it in the channel rack) you can paste that 0db value to the "max value" knob which will save you the trouble of having to paste it in every time. That way you can just drag it to the top and not be concerned about it being too high or low 👌
This channel is the definition of "immaculate"
People like you are the reason why I make music today, thank you so much.
NBMT-Natural Born Music Teacher!
Big up for making these videos and supporting the community. Keep it coming!
This is my favorite video on RUclips. Facts.
I feel as though this is fully beyond me at this point but I super appreciate your demeanor and knowledge, dog! Watched the whole thing, hardly understanding anything with hopes it'll become relevant to me the more I learn.
Ezra Christopher hi Ezra, it might be better to watch one of my general mastering videos first, I have one that isn’t FL Studio specific where I go into the why and how a little bit more :)
Thank you for all these mastering tutorials u have been doing BTW your quality of videos r getting better
This is the kind of stuff that needs to be shared more openly!
It worked for my 64-bit PC. Thanks a lot.
thank you for ur help man, u really help me out mastering this 1 track of mine, i was completely delusional
THANK U SO MUCH hopefully this works good enough for soundcloud too. btw this song is fire af i LOVE that vocal
I always put my reference-track on a separate channel, that outputs directly to the same outputs, as the master channel ("Analogue 1 - Analogue 2" in your case).
That way, I don't have to deactivate the effects on the master-channel and can switch back and forth, effortlessly ;)
This comes in extremely handy, when there is more going on in the mastering-session, than just two tracks (the mixed track and the reference track).
I actually like to mix and master in the same session. I don't get, why most people create separate projects for those two steps.
If - while mastering - I stumble on a problem with the mix, then I can just fix it right there, because I'm still in the same project.
To me, that seems way more convenient than having to go back to the mix-session, fixing the problem, exporting the mix, importing it into the master-session and finally continuing to actually work on the master.
Can anyone tell me, why this approach is considered to be "wrong" by so many?
cefk Firstly, that tip is fantastic and I'll be using it from now on!
Secondly, the reason many of us master in a new project is because of the CPU and RAM demands of mastering plugins. My PC literally crashes and I have to put my buffer to about 2000 to master in the same project. That's why I do it :)
I'm happy to hear, I could give something back!
I've been watching your videos since even before you first appeared on PLAP and have learnt a lot.
Thanks :)
Tip: ctrl A and select all in piano roll. Put the mouse cursor over one of the notes and hold alt and scroll up or down and that moves all the velocity all at once.
You make the best videos on FL tutorials .. compared to other you are better
(BEFORE watching):
Im struggling GREATLY with my mixdowns being somewhat loud and decent on earbuds (I can only mix using studio headphones, so I have to take a chance testing the mixdowns everywhere else) but they seem often unbalanced or too quiet in a car or on household speakers,or even my phones speakers. I don't understand the concept and how it makes tracks loud and enjoyable on most devices.
(AFTER):
WHY DOES THIS FINALLY CLICK IN MY HEAD NOW IVE BEEN STRUGGLING WITH COUNTLESS CORRUPTED FLP'S AND UNBALANCED/QUIET MIXES FOR 4 YEARS STRAIT WHAT.
Also,
Thank so a TON for the knolwedge and help you put out on your channel!! You guys are one of the producers that not only inspire me fire me up with my work fail after fail, but you also teach me well!!
Thank you!
Funny how, I have been producing in FL since version 3, so quite a while... This really did help clear up a lot of issues I have had. I sincerely appreciate this tutorial a lot dude. I definitely see this as something that is so overlooked by many.
Wow i cant believe how much knowledge you fit into that short session. Was practically all new to me. Definitely gonna have to watch this a few times to take it in. Thanks Mike.
pro tip: set your limiter first and do the rest of the processing THROUGH it because the limiter is usually going to add some brightness. but keep your limiter at the end of the signal chain and make sure the gain matching is on so you dont get distracted by the loudness.
This is definitely helpful for someone who struggles with mastering their own tracks, like me for example! Thanks for giving us all of these tips!
I've been really inspired to get into music more lately after getting fired from a shitty retail job. I've always wanted to make music electronically and have a ton of little projects that I've never tried to clean up and master. this tutorial was super helpful and also gave me a kick of inspiration. keep doing what you're doing man, this was a wonderful video. I’m taking myself more serious as an artist and i stumbled upon your channel. Thank you for giving information like this, people wouldn’t usually dare to show
Thanks Jay. I’m alway happy to help. I wish you the best of luck with your art!
I always come to your channel when i need to touch up on anything mixing/mastering, you're very skilled at what you do mate.
I can sense how humble he is I love it
Your videos are the best.... thank you very much for teaching these important things for free...
Sam Matla brought me here. Love your stuff Michael!
Fantastic tutorial. I especially like the part where you compare the medium, loud and very loud parts to your track to illustrate perceived sound quality, nice touch.
He is so much good to transect information.
You teach good, are polite and respectful. Thanks for the info an the way you deliver.
I just love your tutorials, I have followed you for a long time but only just commenting...
Man, you're rocks! Thank You for your course !!! I've learned so much!!!
Always great content, even better showing his using just stock plugins
I found this super useful, especially on my most recent song. Managed to get a better sound quality than I used to get. Still have a long way to go, but I know I am slowly improving. Just wanted to say thank you
Thank you very much, when i rec my band i will show it to you!
Please do! You can get in touch through my website I case I don't get the RUclips notification! www.michaelwynneaudio.com
I actually don't know how to say thanks for your work and instructions. Incredible!
Just mastered my first song thanks to this tutorial. Amazing video👍🏾
Great video thankyou, I generally use other DAW's and popped by to see the changes and got stuck into your tutorial videos :) Think I might take the new FL for another spin.
Damn you’re tutorials are extremely helpful, I was only taught one step of this process before so thank you for posting these 🙏🏻🤘🏻
I love the song you are mastering it brings a sense of joy and happiness ..
Parametric eq2 is good too. T-racks is good too. Cubase is also designed for mastering and they have a free version. I also enjoy reaper and reaktor6
Awesome video Michael, i watch a lot of producing tutorial channels on the tube and i find yours to be the most reliable and helpful, so thank you for the good work!
I also have one tip for you. Instead of constantly pasting the value when setting the fade in/out, hold shift when dragging the point, that enables moving it sideways without accidentaly moving it up/downwards. Maybe you already know that and simply dont use it, but it's a tip for the comment section :) cheers
This video really helped me to learn how to master (atleast the basics). Thank you so much for making videos to help people with this kinda stuff!
I like the way you always humble yourself man....
You respect other engineers outhere. Anywhr thanks for info bro, I was wondering Whr I see the basics of mastering.
jezzz evan on a mic for 50 euro u made my song sound quite good :P im a typical bigginer not an artist no pashion for making music but pashion for listening i went over propably 20 of your videoes stoping starting and i love what you doing for people that are clueless. big love
U R super guy, Michael...thanx so very much for every single video
Thanks for showing me how master a track for Spotify or RUclips, and explaining it in detail for beginners, as things have certainly changed, I learnt by ear and I’m going use expose for mastering, I have in the past mastered tracks before with out distortion, I certainly get LFU meter plugin
You certainly got to have a very trained ear to get rid of any pops or clicks and it certainly takes time, I been composing and writing EDM for 20 years, my conclusion it trial and error I’m qualified sound engineer and sing
Yes It is good I used it on my covers........ Got it perfectly with FL Studio plugins only..........
dude, holy shit. Hands down the best youtuber to explain mixing/mastering. Thank you so much!
SOOOO helpful! Thank you breaking this down.
Love your videos & perspective..ive learned many music libraries do not like the out dated fade in fade out any longer. There are many cool ways to end the track. #peace&love
