•Joseph or Yosef, was the eleventh son of Jacob and first son of Rachel in the book of Genesis. He is also mentioned prominently in the Qur'an as a Prophet, most notably in the 12th chapter, named after him. The story of Joseph is told in Genesis, chapters 37-50 (one of the longest continuous narratives in the Bible).
Joseph is one of the best-known figures in the Torah, famous for his coat of many colors (although this is a possible mistranslation of the Hebrew phrase "kethoneth passim" which means a "shirt with sleeves".

4:02 that reaction is why I love this film. Joseph was in prison for approximately two years. He expected to see a gross looking man rotting away angry at the world. Instead he sees a humbled man without resentment nurturing something that is essential to life. Amazing
Potiphar was on the verge of tears when he turned to look Joseph in the eye, after he told him it was good to see him again. He couldn’t believe he had allowed this. He let the young man who showed such wisdom & reliability, that he placed everything in Joseph’s care, be thrown in prison.
@@olivijastrandjord 4:44 after what his wife done to Joseph.
I love how Potiphar fully expected Joseph to be angry with him, to lash out for not getting to the bottom of the issue before throwing him in a cell, but was shocked when Joseph showed no anger, only understanding.
While Joseph is an understanding he understood now that why he Put him in prison. He Did it to protect him
The way he looked at the small tree. It shows in his eyes how much he learned about himself while he was imprisoned
Wish we could all be like Joseph.

@@jeremiahcombs237 I'm sure he would as we grow and learn.
Dame right because through suffering you learn so much about yourself and find something in yourself that was always there but never opened it because of the fear of the unknown of that
The song "You Know Better Than I" always gets me teary eyed. It really humbles you & make you rethink about life & how you always don't have control over it. Perhaps it that is a good thing sometimes.
ajshim 3:03-3:06 me too.
"Perhaps it is a good thing sometimes."
Well, as much as I'd like to say: "Of course it's better God is in control and not me" when it actually comes down to it, and I have a "bad day", and a whole bunch of people seem to just make it worse for reasons that are beyond my control, and I just feel like a victim of my circumstances, look, I have to confess, all my philosophies kind of fall apart, and I'm exposed for just another guy who can get as angry at God as Job.
But then, I wake up, because another dream always follows, and I open my eyes to see a new land of promise I couldn't have stumbled upon if I had my way and nothing "bad" had happened.
God sure knows how to make miracles look like normal, daily life.
I'm crying as I'm writing this.
May God bless you in Jesus name.
I know, I don’t normally cry during movies but this part moved 13 year old me
Humans love to think that they can control everything, but nope, let our Lord control it.
When Potiphar came to Joseph, there was regret in his eyes, the kind that showed "I let the worse get the best of me, and he got hurt because of it." But Joseph just said "Its great to see you, Potiphar."
Things may seem bad now, but try to trust God a little. Just a little trust, can go a long ways. But in the live action, Joseph was head-honcho of the prison through management. He kept saying "Its because I trust God."
Amen...Thank you 🙏🙏

As time went by, Joseph grew up. He gently helps a tree. I love the lyrics & moment. “So, I put up a fight,” he gazes at his brothers, his eyes begging for help, “Now just when I have given up, the truth is coming clear.” He had flashbacks from the past. “If this has been a test, I cannot see the reason,” “I try to do what’s best, & faith has made it easy,” & “Is put my trust in you.” Joseph looked up, saw Potiphar standing at the door, & went to meet him. He put a hand on his shoulder, to show he forgave him for the past.

Well I hated the movie for a poor execution of characters and non memorable songs and characters. I literally had to look up the name of Joseph’s wife on the Wikipedia page for Dreamworks. All the characters are assholes except for The pharaoh, Joseph’s wife, and Joseph himself. It wasn’t Joseph’s fault that he was the favorite son. You’d get an ego too if your parents praised you for all your life. This movie sucked for me and I still enjoyed this movie for how bad it was, it’s a guilty pleasure movie for me. It’s ok if you like the movie, but for me, it didn’t get me invested in the story or let me get to know the characters and have a chance to bond with them so I can feel bad when Joseph’s betrayed by his brothers...heck..even my own half-brothers wouldn’t even sell me off to slavery because they were jealous of me.
maddy miller well if you hate the movie then you definitely would hate the real story
Trey Spiva
It’s just the movie that bugs me
-Bad writing
-Bad pacing
-Jerk characters
@@maddymiller4146 I actually don't think that the movie suffers from jerk characters. it is rather swift but I think during the early part of the movie, it establishes pretty clearly that Joseph's brothers were not simply jerks. They treated him as a brother at first but their father wouldn't even allow that and kept them doing work in the field while Joseph was educated. Later, he plays with them but only till their father yanks Joseph away again. Then comes the coat and interpretation of dreams which were more or less the last straw. At the early points of it all, Joseph is friendly with them but as time goes on, he becomes more arrogant. It is definitely quick for purposes related to time and the brothers not being so much the focus of the movie but I don't think that I'd just classify them as jerks and I do think that they set it up reasonably. If anything, I'd say that it is more properly blamed on poor parenting as as soon as Joseph was born, their father started treating the other sons like second class citizens as he went off to treat Joseph differently.
I also don't see Potiphar as too much of a jerk either. Rather, every other bit of nobility that he displays often gets forgotten in favor of the fact that when he realized that his wife was at fault, he still let them take Joseph away. I think that in the moment, this isn't so easy to do. The situation almost feels like picking between his wife who he knows is wrong and his favored slave who he knows is right. To what degree he knows is debatable. Plus to side with Joseph is basically outing his wife and going back on his previous judgment. He's just been betrayed as well, giving him more to think about. So I prefer to see it as him being stuck between a rock and a hard place where all the answers look pretty ugly.
However, I do agree that the pacing is a bit awkward with all the time skips. At the same time, I'm a bit ok to the other way because it is the nature of the story which they didn't really get to do much customization on. Such are the restrictions of source material vs full creative freedom.
It’s good to stay busy...
I fell soooo bad for him 😔

People want a fun fact, certaint lone dog vikings would cover themselves in chipped off walls of clay and clipped off leaves to and water just enough to make it adhesive and slowly sneak into public, and when they started fighting they would take a proper dosage of shrooms since certaint nomadic tribes used shrooms as seeing beyond and entering whats known as a frenzy, a euphoric state of connecting with nature and planting yourself like a tree in definition. Not moving till somebody chops you down, like the viking who held the bridge.

Direct to video, if you can believe it!
I’m quite confused about this he does this movie take place before or after the Prince of Egypt
Before, because Moses was born after Jacob and his family settled in Egypt, and the Israelites multiplied even as slaves, because God was with them, & finally it frightened the king, so he ordered the baby boys to be cast into the Nile & drowned.

Would have been better I think without any lyrics. We don't need to be told what the message is from the lyrics in a contemporary song.
I disagree. Better than I deserves lyrics because it is showing Joseph talking to God and how he is putting his trust with Him. Plus the song in my opinion has the best lyrics ever written
@@ericburns9132 yeah - the movie is ‘showing’ that message - to be told the same message in the form of lyrics was redundant.
How long was he in that jail cell ?

What's so bad about this movie? The singing?
Luke Price
The asshole characters and some characters held the idiot ball for some time, but that was when my opinion was that the movie had a weak element to it because of the writing. Joseph was put on a pedestal for all his life and the Jacob never let any of his sons bond with him so it’ll insure a good family dynamic. Some of the characters were forgettable to me because they didn’t have much characterization to them and just served the plot to it’ll move forward, the only characters that I liked weren’t assholes. If I say I hate a move then I’m bashed by some people who do like it. I believe the writing couldn’t done better and at least waited till they had enough money to release it in theaters, I’ve heard from somewhere that this movie took only 9 months to complete which is impossible to do if you wanna make a good story, I wasn’t really invested in the story. Now I believe that it’s a solid movie, but it’s in need of some major tune ups, like the smoothening of the story and not be so reliant on being too faithful to the source material, also the animation couldn’t done with some polishing up to make it more enjoyable for everyone who loves movies and not make it too boring. Slow pacing, characters holding the idiot ball, characters making stupid decisions, not being shown that one of the brothers was suffering with the decision of selling family into slavery. I know jealousy can make you do stupid things, but selling your family into slavery? Now that’s far fetched. I do have some kind words to saw about this movie
The animation
-The animation isn’t as on par with the usual Dreamworks movies, because it’s lacking in quality. Given how this came out as the same time as Road To El Dorado, we can tell where the budget went, but the animation is still pretty good in terms of quality. It’s decent enough to put a kid in front of the tv or have it as background noise.
The rest of the characters that’s didn’t hold the idiot ball
-Aneth was some what likable beyond just being a love interest, despite her immature aunt
-Lord Potipher was kind enough to see some human inside Joseph despite being a slave, yet, he fucks it up by throwing Joseph in the dungeon because his wife was being a hoe and she didn’t get what she wanted.
-The pharaoh was decent, he was responsible for the entirety of Egypt so he needed some relief for his nightmares, heck, constant nightmares would drive anyone mad.
@@maddymiller4146 I mean yeah this movie just needed more budget. This is just pretty much how the actual Biblical story of Joseph played out. The people that are assholes or idiots were the same in the original story.
