He grew up two towns down from me. He's a great down to earth dude. Were small town communities and hunters/farmers/true animal raisers have GREAT respect for animals. And those who say otherwise haven't really done their research or refuse to listen to facts.
People will never stop eating animals. This is a fact that the PC libtards are gonna have to come to terms with, but I feel it's important that we respect the animals that we depend on for food and clothing. The current situation with how animals are kept and handled on those big industrial farms and how they are crowded together and mistreated is appalling.
Hunters most likely pay for a wild life preserve to hunt on. They support the existence of wild life preserves. Also, I do believe that animals shouldn’t be put in cages their whole lives. As long as the animal has a good life, they are going to die at some point and when they do why would you waste their resources when it can sustain human life.
What legitimately blows my mind is people that eat meat but critize those who legally hunt for meat. The animals they eat suffer way more to get to their plate than those hunters eat. How do you rationalize that level of denial?
876r876rf Yes the sheer quantity of food may very well have led to waste. I can't argue against that, but it's inarguably a better situation to be in then mass starvation. You could even argue the sheer wealth of food has led to obesity, although a sedentary lifestyle is a more realistic culprit. Again, it bears the situation of malnutrition. Abundance has its drawbacks. Factory farming has given us this abundance which is impossible otherwise.
How would not having factory farming lead to mass starvation? Animals consume a lot more food than they produce. We could still have abundance without factory farming.
The Cancer part his talking about has nothing to do with meat, it's the preservatives that you can find in any processed food, that can cause stomach cancer.
When did hunting become a controversy? Oh that's right. When people who buy meat from the grocery store, and have never been outside in their entire lives, started acting like they know shit about the real world.
Poaching is awful, but what these well-meaning know-nothings don't realize is NOBODY hates poachers more than hunters. Pop culture is run by these boneheads who think hunters and poachers are morally the same.
Hunting for the purpose of eating the meat is one thing but hunting for sport is f'd up. How would you like someone chasing a defenseless you with a gun, just so they can put your head on a mantle.

Chris Pratt choose the MOST humane way possible to sustain a diet with meat, period. I actually hate that I eat processed meat, I hate how many of these animals are treated and hate even more that I have a role in that treatment by being a frequent consumer. I have nothing but respect for Pratt for doing this, it takes a really centered person to really appreciate the life of all animals, as while understand the cycle of life.
No Nonsense Alchemist so if I used that justification to kill you or a person you cared about that would automatically make it ethical? If your answer is no ask yourself why it's okay to inflict unnecessary suffering and death on one sentient being but not on another. If your answer to that is "because they're animals" then pick up a biology book because humans are animals too.
There is absolutely no controversy, this is very commendable from Chris Pratt. Give an animal a good life, kill it humanly, and eat it. Absolutely nothing wrong.
@frejborgvlogs right before, Joe mentioned Waka Flocka (well known rapper) and he then said "that sounds like a rapper." Makes sense to me, "dude you're so white, you have no clue about rap."
@Phillip hanna Not necessarily. I listen to rappers who talk about a range of things. From conspiracy theories to school shooters. That's like saying movies are all the same.
Josh Ellison Well, in the thumbnail he is holding a big piece of meat, so it's not just for fun. Tell me, is it better for an animal to live free and die quickly or live shittily in a factory farm and die a stressful death? Don't be a dick.
Vlad The Inhaler Well, he doesn't require meat to survive therefore he is doing it for pleasure. Better? I think it's better to give animals the freedom and agency to live their lives. A lifetime of suffering and an unreliable death-sometimes quick sometimes agonising-or a life of freedom with an unknown death-do you really need my opinion of which of those is preferable? Don't use insults it makes you difficult to take seriously.
That 18% is misunderstood by most people though, which is easy to do. Your risk of cancer is already 5%. That risk is increased by 18% by eating a lot of processed meat. Now that does not mean your 5% risk is now a 23% risk, the risk percentage itself is increasing by 18%. So now you're cancer risk is 5.9%. It's an increase, sure, but it's not as significant of a risk increase as people make it out to be. Not justifying or damning the eating of processed meat, I'm simply trying to explain the research results.
Evil Noah See this all the time in the press. “If you eat this it doubles the chance of X”. While chance of X being like 0,0005 % never mention at all in the article.
Not seeing a problem. The chances of getting cancer in your lifetime is approximately 47% not the 5% claimed above. 18% on top of 5% is not that significant like Noah stated. 18% on top of 30, 40, or 50 percent is significant.

IDontKnowWhatToPutAsMyUsernam e It's more of the morals of it, farmers kill animals to provide food and make a living, hunters don't need to, they're killing animals needlessly.
IDontKnowWhatToPutAsMyUsernam e Hunting for food is also fine, but also glorifying it is just unsettling. Like I don't want to know the back story of this lamb you killed. Just show me the meat and say it's free range. Hunting has it's place just stay morally correct because it can get out of hand obviously.

"If you ate 50g of processed meat a day, your chance of (gastric) cancer is 18% higher." A man who will develop stomach cancer at some point in their lives is 1 in 95 in the US, that's 1.05%, so 18% higher is the difference between 1.05% to 1.24%.... Walter James I’m with you. I’m disabled and can’t hunt anymore. I used to and loved it. Grew up doing it. Taught my kids and they love it. I wish I had a farm. Just couldn’t keep it up.
I typically avoid these "no win" arguments because no matter the logic or facts cited in one's argument, another will cry foul and it just becomes a troll buffet. Anyone who thinks hunters are blood thirsty pyschos as a whole are just being childish. I hunt for the love of nature. Our ancestors survived by this practice and I feel privileged to live in an area where I can enjoy nature's beauty while celebrating my heritage and staying in touch with how my ancestors provided for their families/ tribes. During every harvest, which is far more humane than factory meat farming, I take the time to appreciate the beauty of the animal and thank it for providing my family with a meal. I don't think a natural predator treats a kill in the same manner. Nature is not peaceful. Its survival the fittest. To argue overpopulation is a moot argument need to visit some places in Appalachia where the deer herd is so large that the food resources are unable to sustain the entire herd. Bad genetics are passed on because there is little breeding competition for the dominant males. Over time, this leads to a weak herd, an unhealthy micrcosm of the ecosystem. Here in Ohio, the coyote population is nearly out of control. Deer, turkey, rabbits etc are being decimated by the ever increasing predators. How is this rectified? Nature may work this out over years and years by starving out the predators that can't feed and the ungilates may rebound in numbers after decades. Easier solution is for hunters to keep these numbers in check. Theres a reason it's called "conservation." We as hunters love and respect nature, which death is an everyday occurrence. Harvesting animals isnt inhumanely murdering fuzzy critters. We are feeding our families, enjoying the beauty of nature and doing our part to help keep a healthy balance in the ecosystem which we are a part of.
This! This is exactly right! I hate when people get upset when people make ANY impact on nature. HOMO SAPIENS ARE PART OF NATURE! Humans have had an impact on nature since they started walking upright, including the other human species that hunted, like homo floriensis, homo australopithecus, Neanderthals, and Denisovans. I would argue there are issues with deer overpopulation because people don't hunt like they used to. It's far too easy to simply go to the store for fatty, processed, antibiotic-pumped beef. Natural venison, meat straight from nature, is by far my favorite kind of meat. I dream about the day my husband and I can go on a nice elk hunting trip out west to appreciate the mountains and forests while having the adventure, trophy, and meat of a lifetime.
@@morpheusburess3124 Well it was not just white people moron other races and genders hunt and poach too and animals that have gone extinct can go extinct either in an area or as a species all together by over hunting loss of habitat pollution and introducing a new species to an enviorment like the python in the everglades or us chopping down the amazon rain forest because of over population
Regarding the "processed meat causes cancer" claim, the risk increase is a percentage of already established risk. So, if your risk for, say, colon cancer is 5%, the 18-20% increased risk is a percentage of that 5%. So it increases to a whopping 6%.
Based on the fact that there was only one future where they could've won against thanos...... Someone was required to mess up that specific scene. And Starlord just happened to be the one who had to take the fall. So basically there was no way of avoiding the outcome of that scene.
There is no thing such as killing for food and resources if you already have enough food and resources, that's like killing a human(mentally handicapped human) for food when you have access to a grocery store.
First of all raising, killing and processing your own food is just fine. Just like hunting and fishing or having chickens for eggs and meat. If you don't agree with that way of living it's fine but, don't tread on others for choosing to live that way.
I can’t understand why anyone would have a problem with this. Whether left wing, right wing, whatever wing, don’t we all love chicken wings?! We gotta know where our grub comes from, and kudos to Pratt for giving his pet and meal a happy life and respectable death.

If you are ever up in washington hunting, and need someone to help carry out an animal let me know I am down to help where I can.
I think it's great to see that someone in holly wood has a real understanding and appreciation for the weight of his actions and the sacrifice of the animal. Really seems down to earth.
Props to pratt for going against the grain. I have chickens that live great lives free range. I've had pigs I've taken to get butchered and they lived way better lives than the ones in factory farms. I would rather get all my meat this way. It tastes better, I know where it came from and I love the animals and I am grateful for their roles feeding my family. I get attached even but that goes to show how much love and care can be given to livestock instead of thousands being grown in pens for mass consumption. If any thing animal rights activists and vegans should be thankful for small farms that take pride in this kind of life.
All those fangirls that love all those Chris Pratt strong, tought, independent characters. But then when the reality of those characters comes to life they get all angry and stuff.
Friendly neighborhood Crisis actor hes talking about carnivorous animals. Some animals only eat other animals some eat both vegetation and animals. Like fisher cats or coyotes. They really only meat, same goes for snakes. They only eat mice and smaller land critters. You vegans can't deny the circle of life. Things die, things get eaten. Thats life pal
Riggatoni I know things die and I eateat everyday but the comment was pointless. Just because we're animals doesn't mean we should eat meat like carnivores. Primates (humans) aren't carnivores (only one of hundreds of species), barely omnivores.. Things die in the process of creating any diet. The comment still makes no sense.

We are more highly evolved than animals which is why you don't need to eat meat to survive we know how to get the stuff we need for our health from other types of food instead of dead animals

General Lee well on our way to victory? Even if you were pro Vietnam war there was no way of winning that without greater loss of life. We were not winning that war at all
What if everyone just lived their own lives, the way they want to, and nobody judged people on their life choices? What a world that would be. Honestly, I couldn’t care less what other people do.
The reality is that those of us that starting hunting later in our adult lives looked down at our first kill and considered becoming a vegetarian.....but ultimately concluded “I am a meat eater” and realized that taking responsibility for our own meat is our effort at being just in serving our meat desire.
Actors are such attention whores. Just eat that dead animal in appreciative silence. Why do people need to boast about hunting and killing food? And post it on social media? Seems weird to get off on it. We are very excessive about animal meat. We all know it’s killed and sacrificed so we can feed ourselves. Why do people need a pat on the back like their some badass hero. I mean, if you’re an African that chased it over miles on foot and killed it with a hand made spear then yeAh, you’re a badAss. But Chris Pratt , are you more virtuous and better then us cuz you have time on your hands to do shit like that?

How they make ecosystems thrive by lowering populations of the animals that root, dig, shit, and destroy? Sounds like everyone who has a problem with responsible hunters really just has an internal problem
you dont think its weird the fact he considered it to be a pet? sure its meat but to call a farm animal a pet is weird. Whats next hes going to get his kids a puppy then throw it in a stew in a couple years? farm animal is a farm animal not a pet
Justin the distinction seems arbitrary. Why not have a farm animal as a pet? I guess the best argument to be made against that would be that it’s emotionally damaging for children, but I don’t know if that’s based on anything besides intuition.

i am vegan and i think hunting is better than eating meat you didn't kill and butcher yourself. First they at least get to live a good life (thats my main problem with industrial farming is the living conditions and the animals treatment) and the hunter is taking full responsibility for the death and has to see it first hand. It's much more grotesque eating meat and never having to see the animal, its life, and its death and just brushing it off as a product. totally in psychological disconnect. i think his caption is what is weirding ppl out. When he starts talking about the wand and unplugging a tv hes sounds like a creep. like something a serial killer would ramble about after killing someone. I do agree that it is much better that he shows where it comes from than be a blind sheep (pun intended) and that the "controversy" is retarded
Rohypno tist are you a moron? This whole topic is based around meat and killing animals, so it's important that when making an argument from a certain standpoint, you state your bias. It's not that vegan want to tell everyone they are vegan. It was important information to the topic. At least try to be original.
Rohypno tist.... in a conversation where ppl are judging someone for killing animals and they themselves likely buy animal products, i think it is pretty relevant...
I agree the quote about turning off a tv sounds a little reaper-esque, but I get what he was going for to try to make it seem more peaceful. But he really is expressing what it truly is to be a farmer and raise animals for meat, and he’s doing it the same way people did it thousands of years ago (the method of slaughter notwithstanding). You can tell the compassion he has for the animals in taking efforts to ensure they don’t suffer.
killing animals isnt murder even if its illegal.... murder is SPECIFICALLY the wrongful death of a human caused by another human. Animals cannot murder humans and humans cannot murder animals. period.
As a vegitarian, I'm no more outraged at this than i am with someone walking into McDonalds and eating a burger. What bothers me here is the hypocracy of the outrage. If you are vegitarian, fine, you're consistent, but if you're not vegitarian and you're outraged by this, you're a hypocrite. If you're disgusted about this, excellent, stop eating meat... don't whine because someone is showing you where your food is coming from
Exactly this. I'm no vegetarian but I respect a person's personal choices and if a vegetarian is disgusted by harvesting and eating meat then fair enough. However the people who'll happily gorge on cheeseburgers while saying how barbaric and disgusting anyone who hunts and harvests their own meat is are the worst kind of hypocrites.
Hunting and harvesting your own meat is actually good for the environment. States like New York have strict hunting laws that get in the way of the natural cycle of life and the deer are over populated and destroying the environment.

That meat Chris raises isn’t cheap. Fast food joints serve cheap meat therefore those animals don’t get anywhere near the life of Chris’s sheep. I think the argument should be made not around whether or not we should be eating meat but rather what should meat cost, and do the animals deserve better and us to pay more for that?
Ethen Rosas haha funny look at me I’m cool for disliking popular celebrities. I don’t even use Reddit lol I just think this combination would be pretty awesome

Factory Farming is awful what Chris is doing is great.
Can't say it's great, but it's a ton better than factory farming
flake452 Factory farming has led to the wealthiest, healthiest human population in history. Don t buy into nonsensical sloganeering.
What evidence do have to make such a ridiculous claim?

5%? I read in a news paper when Joe Fraiser died that 47% of men would get cancer in their lifetimes.
Tary88 go reread the original comment and then reread your comment... smfh
Not seeing a problem. The chances of getting cancer in your lifetime is approximately 47% not the 5% claimed above. 18% on top of 5% is not that significant like Noah stated. 18% on top of 30, 40, or 50 percent is significant.
Had to google the article. Study only applies to rectal cancer, which is not mentioned in the video or the comment.

It's not a contraversy. He hunts. So fuckin what.
What episode is this? I'd like to hear/watch the full episode.
Im right.
Derek Potts, you have the mind of a scholar. Thank you for your thoughts. Very well said.

Regarding the "processed meat causes cancer" claim, the risk increase is a percentage of already established risk. So, if your risk for, say, colon cancer is 5%, the 18-20% increased risk is a percentage of that 5%. So it increases to a whopping 6%.
Thanks. Came here to say that.

I'm not a fan of animals being killed but if you're going to do it for your food and resources than that's the way to do it. Good on Chris Pratt.
There is no thing such as killing for food and resources if you already have enough food and resources, that's like killing a human(mentally handicapped human) for food when you have access to a grocery store.
It is an important lesson.
First of all raising, killing and processing your own food is just fine. Just like hunting and fishing or having chickens for eggs and meat. If you don't agree with that way of living it's fine but, don't tread on others for choosing to live that way.

Riggatoni I know things die and I eateat everyday but the comment was pointless. Just because we're animals doesn't mean we should eat meat like carnivores.
We need to see a vegan wilderness survival show lol.
Stacy Smith I don’t think it’s boasting at all. It’s an alternative lifestyle to running to the local burger joint.
It’s an idiotic, shame that this is considered a possible controversy
I got banned from Facebook for 15 days for posting pictures of us butchering a deer we shot on opening day
That's some BS the people or computer programmed to run Facebook is retarded
You were using Facebook?
^ Well there's your problem right there.
Funnily enough it had to be someone on your friends list who got butthurt and tattled on you to the internet police 😂 but i bet they dont have the balls to confront you about it to your face and will never bring it up when they see you
Well that's pretty graphic stuff! Not everyone wants to see that! Maybe that's why they did it!
@@abgeth then scroll past it. See something that disturbs you? Scroll past it. We’re talking about field dressing a deer, not murdering an innocent person.
If you want pigs to live, God shouldn't of made them out of bacon.
MS Archive youve tried to copy the top comment 😂
Dumbest shit I’ve ever heard in my life
Shouldn't of??
Sounds like something my dad would say to me 😊
What’s controversial about hunting btw? The devotion to conservation? The responsible and ethical ways of procuring food? The sustainability of it? How they make ecosystems thrive by lowering populations of the animals that root, dig, shit, and destroy? Sounds like everyone who has a problem with responsible hunters really just has an internal problem
"I'm not white"😂😂😂
As long as he ate it and doesn’t do it for sport AND it’s legal I’m all for hunting honestly I’m a dem too so don’t freak out
you dont think its weird the fact he considered it to be a pet? sure its meat but to call a farm animal a pet is weird.
@Oh Boy a farm animal doesnt trust you like a dog will. why is it frowned upon to shoot your own men in battle? I understand you're probably just a kid and this topic is probably over your head, but all meat isnt the same.
@@justinc2633 if you raise an animal, sheep or dog, from birth it’ll trust you. It probably was like a pet to the kids and to Chris himself but it isn’t some deep ‘oh he’ll be feeding puppy next’ type of deal, it probably just meant a lot to the kids and maybe to him as well, doesn’t mean he won’t eat it. He’s a hunter, he understands the distinction between sheep and dog. Doesn’t mean he can’t care about the sheep
Most people are so disconnected from their food these days.
Bow hunting Hogs in Texas was one of the best experience I ever had.
Damn Rogan is baked here 😂😂
Is it just me or does the baseball cap make Pratt look like Matt from DemolitionRanch?
Make them look alike. They're lowkey the same person, he just cant reveal it or Hollywood would be pissed 😏
He should be on the pod cast
plants are alive too.
And dont dare tell them how many unclean and harmful resources go into farming plants 😂
However they don't have the brain to experience pain.
@@donotrevolt6562 So just because something doesn't feel pain you have the right to kill it?
What about a paralyzed brain dead human, which is basicly a plant.
Makes me a bigger fan of Pratt. Love he doesn’t hide what he believes in to keep from getting shamed
That is so true. There are so many disingenuous celebrities.
Finally a Hollywood actor who isn't a soyboy...
Wonder how long that'll last.
😐
You guys and your catchphrases. "Soyboy?" What are you even talking about?
+#RhymingOverBeats Soy products increase estrogen production, and limit testosterone production.
#RhymingOverBeats.
If you eat soy your penis will shrivel and retreat into your body its a proven scientific fact.
So far the better part of a decade.
i am vegan and i think hunting is better than eating meat you didn't kill and butcher yourself.
Obviously being vegan is the most interesting thing about you . You vegans always make it your opener when starting any conversation .
Rohypno tist being vegan is relevant in this conversation since it involves ethics and his view on eating habits. Get mad over something else dumbass
Murder is a crime against humanity, killing animals isn't wrong if it's legal(not a crime).
killing animals isnt murder even if its illegal.... murder is SPECIFICALLY the wrongful death of a human caused by another human.
Have fun being weak, and sick.
@@krishurlburt7375 wow, such ignorance. And I bet your a fat fuck too. I bet bet my left nut that I am more healthy than you on every single measure of health. Not just because I haven't been sick for 10 years, but I'm 42 and I bet I am fitter than you, I bet I have a lower body mass index, and any other measure you would like. You have no idea
@@DanTheBossBuster Your comment should be a copypasta, dude. You're so obviously insecure it's hilarious
I guess shame on us and our natural, well-earned place in the food chain.
Micro judging life has that outcome.
