Love the RZ mask. Only thing I don't like is they ride high on the bridge of my nose and push my safety glasses up. Thanks for the little tutorial on swapping the filters. I haven't had to swap mine yet.
i just used mine for the first time today and its the nuts! thought id give it a go after seeing you guys use it in a previous episode. Keep up the great content and hello from a fellow chippy in Luton, England !!!
I need to get another RZ mask, I wasn’t thinking and let a coworker use it when he was grinding and his breath smelled like he ate a diaper 😂 needless to say I haven’t used it since 👊🏽
Cool looking mask, buts it's essentially a paper mask with a nylon sleeve to hold it around your face.id like one but at around £35 UK price I'll probably not bother.
this is true, although I did check and they are better than the paper masks that I've been using. I use N95's and these are N99... the number being percentage of particles up to .1 microns... (I think)
I have an RZ that I don't use because I find it very uncomfortable. A lot of people love them, but for me it's very painful. With the single low strap, it pulls back and down putting pressure on the bridge of my nose. The filtration is done by the paper insert, not the mesh, so I thought my paper masks were doing the same job of protection. It turn out that I am using N95 masks and that RZ inserts are N99. I also noticed that RZ now has a model 2.5 with an upper strap ... so maybe I'll have to try that. I did a bit more looking, and there are several brands of paper masks rated N99 with exhale valves, and N95 with valves and charcoal .... they are typically low$20's for 20 to 30 masks, RZ is $10 for 3. I'll keep looking for a N99, valve-charcoal combo.
Scott which kind of garage you rent i live in Australia try to find a workshop like that in a storage place where i could do as much noise as i want but i dont find any. Look like a 100 garages where you're at and hips of room inside. Thats cool. Cheers maaaate.
Scott, you said that you use "prefer" to use a respirator for paint fumes, I think it would be helpful for those new to the trades to understand that a dust mask does not filter vapors, esp any kind of solvent.
fotopdo this is true. I got poisoned from CO from running a concrete saw inside a bathroom in a garage, I had fans blowing windows open to blow dust and vapor out.. I wasn’t chocking on dust but I started feeling extremely tired to being so dizzy and dazed I thought I was going to die.. I literally positioned myself to where I could be found if I did so I could receive help faster. A respirator needs to be vapor approved. CO poisoning kills especially in cases where it poisons you very quickly rather than a slow leak in a house. It’s very extreme.
Great vid as always not sure the face mask holds an ffp rating high enough for uk legal use more of an off-road mask not building silca dust or fine dust but I would love to be told otherwise , that do look good but not sure if legal as a form of protection in the uk
