Bannerlord Tactics, Let's Crush it with Khuzait: Volume I: An Introductory Battle

- Alrighty friends, as requested, we begin a mini-series/campaign with the Khuzait, nerfing our late-game army and invading Khuzait territory. We've put 100 Battanian fian champions into retirement and we'll use mostly Khuzait troops in a series that will (hopefully) showcase the extraordinary and UNIQUE tactics available to the horse-archer heavy Khuzait.
Don't worry if the series of videos you want to see hasn't had an update in a little while, I am STILL making videos for all of these side series and will release them over the upcoming weeks and months:

Welcome back future Khans, Emperors, Jarls and Sultans of Calradia! We're continuing to show our late-game campaign including huge battles, and winning(most) of these battles by deploying advanced tactics to overcome superior enemy forces. Our entire channel is dedicated to helping players improve their field command and if that's your desire, or just want to see huge, dramatic battles, you've come to the right place.
This series of battles were the result of my crazy war against all of Calradia in which army after enemy after assaults out small Kingdom and our small forces dig in, fight back and give it all they have got.
Please comment, like and subscribe if you're interested in more of my ultra-late-game campaign, that may end up ending in utter despair, but that's the challenge of it. Any challenge where success is assured is no challenge at all.
My campaign is an extremely late-game campaign where I am resolved to give no peace to these scum Kingdoms attacking me - seven of the eight have been at war for years, with only Sturgia at a neutral stance. My family of warriors is now large though and with what remaining strength and valor we can must, we stand against the map of Calradia.

Lord Retinue Uptier(Makes the enemy forces stronger, much less peasants and lower ranked troops)

Improved AI Troops(Also makes enemy lords and their armies tougher by giving them a higher daily xp rate. This means you'll routinely face armies with HUGE numbers of the highest tier units, sometimes four or five times the normal amount in vanilla Bannerlord): www.nexusmods....
Death for all: This mod allows you to set the rate at which nobles die more often. I want both a harder challenging late-game but also a more realistic game. If you're cut down with a massive aserai two-handed axe, you shouldn't just be injured 99.9% of the time. It's a very customizable mod so you can just a little more death or set the death rate so high you get several deaths every battle. The number I often like is '10', some deaths but not a massacre of nobles...

I also use the Dismemberment Plus Mod: It's highly customizable and works seamlessly with the new beta(and versions back to 1.28). I thoroughly recommend it if you enjoy carnage!:

I've also used Realistic Battle Mod in the past and highly recommend it for Ai and battle realism BUT I find the pace too slow for my taste and the AI is actually rather predictable after a half dozen battles. Still I wanted to put a plug in for it here, it's a GREAT mod and highly configurable. www.nexusmods....
Much of the music and inspiration for this and other videos in the channel are inspired by Epic History TV - probably THE best channel on youtube(and the internet for that matter) covering the Napoleonic wars. With amazing work Epic History TV takes you through the dramatic and incredibly story of Napoleon covering all of his most famous battles. I HIGHLY recommend it.

TACTICS are the best part of the game. Honestly, the rest of the game is a little rough around the edges... But the combat.... It's almost sexual.
off topic, when opens the screen to vote for a owner of the fief, on the portrait, sometimes I see someones with the Sergeant stripes, 1, or 2, or 3, I am always without, what that means? because, I became the ruler of sturgians, have many fiefs, level 6 clan, 10k+ influence, $5 million and still no Sergeant stripes
I'll have to look at my own campaign and compare to this. It might be that if YOU'RE in charge, you don't need stripes because YOU ARE Mr. Stripe.
love your videos man. very well done. i cant really play bannerlord on xbox right now since there’s a bug that forces the game to crash in any medium sized battles. this helps a bit. appreciate it!

I’ve done an entire playthrough of Kuzait lancers and khans guards only, no foot troops, and it got so repetitively easy to win I kept making my parties smaller and smaller to make it a challenge
I'm afraid this is one of the perils and risks of getting too good at tactics and understanding the combat system too well Joel that we have to create artificial challenges for anything to stop our mad scientist armies. Obviously you know I'm right there with you basically disinterested in fighting any kind of army less than twice my size unless I have all peasants LOL. Still my channel is more and more being developed to help somewhat newer players with some of the videos even if I still relish very complicated tactics and getting deep into the minutiae with guys like you...

Your 8th corps is my Khan's Guard division - maybe when I get up to 40 companions I'll replace them - and depending on army size I'll have 50-100 to just sit in reserve on hold fire.
Once enemy is overextended I have them charge (and circle) whichever group is most vulnerable. These guys are great at turning the tide if things don't go well. My infantry/archers can all die just to have Khan's Guard in reserve who will go ahead and K/D 10:1 to comeback and win.
I'm JUST now starting to delve deeper into the mist of horse archer tactics, so it will be interesting to see what kind of tactics I can work out - and what you're suggesting here, feint attacks and counter charges, will for sure be part of the mix.
@@HeadlessHorsemanProductions Awesome dude! Another tactic if you don't mind casualties, they distract enemy archers quite well and allow your infantry to advance unimpeded once they start circling
haven't seen the video yet however i did find out one thing if your troops are stuck becuase the enemy is infront of you then all you have to do is tell them to move to a position futher then the enemy and they will be pushed back however as far as i can tell this seems to work on light armoured troops or if we have a large amount of troops so more testing must go on
You CAN push them around some but higher quality troops 'push through' enemy troops easier. Lower level ones, of course, just die lol

Speaking of The Black Lion, he has less than 100 million EXP to go till he hits level 60! I don't often get a chance to play him anymore but once in a while I make some progress. I'm honored to have inspired, in any part, one of your series. No wonder I enjoy "Companions in Blood" so much.

I'd like to mention that horse archers don't need to be moving. Your comments about mobile archers is correct. But it needs to be stated they don't have to be shooting while moving, for others.
Get them to a side quickly and then have them stop to shoot and their accuracy goes up tremendously.
Don't waste arrows on the move.
Glad to be part of your day, honored rather. I'm sure my tactics will evolve considerable in the 4-5 weeks I will probably dedicate to this side-series. A fun faction to try different things and I'm just getting started. As usual, I appreciate comments, suggestions and even critical remarks. It all HELPS in the end.
I will be running some tests. HOW much more accurate they are standing still vs. moving. Should be illuminating.

I really like the glowing indicators on the ground that I believe is from the RTS mod? Which version of Bannerlord are you playing to make it work? I was under the impression that it wasn't compatible with current version, but if it's still close, maybe I'll consider running it. Great work as always. Keep it up!
I feel very blessed. 1.2.8.31530. I've updated to a beta, but I HAVEN'T updated to the newest/newest beta, and I'm fortunate that my system is still highly compatible with a large variety of mods. I'm scared now to update since it may cause everything to crash. Oops and yes, it's the RTS mod, SUCH a necessary mod!

Is it perk that your horse gives 30 dmg each enemy or a mod? Because in my campaign i can only give 5-10 dmg even with a top tier horse.
I have had people ask this before and I really have no other context to what is going on here. I don't have any mods that's affecting it although I do have one of the best horses 330 riding skill and obviously all the perks that increase horse charge damage. It would be nice if someone else answered your question by saying they have similar results so I would know that my own experiences weren't the outlier here and that there is something you can do to increase your charge damage...
@@HeadlessHorsemanProductions I've had similar results. It depends on the horse, which has a charge damage stat, and your Riding Skill. Riding perk at 275 will give +1 charge damage per 10 points of Riding above 200. So at 330 skill that's 13 points plus whatever the horse charge damage stat is. I think your speed relative to the target plays a roll but I don't have any solid information on that other than I think i've seen it pop up in the damage report in the lower left of the screen. I always try to go full speed through a formation while having a group of heavy cav set to Follow Me so that they hopefully also just plow over the formation, which I see results in the Kill Feed but i'm sure how much of that is from the horse damage or them using their weapons. Royal Destriers have the highest charge damage at 36, followed by Cossians and Tyal Horses at 31. Chart here - mountandblade.fandom.com/wiki/Horses
I'm not sure if horse armor affects the damage, and there's a flag that adds a bonus to Charge damage that i'm not sure affects the damage.
@@tatersandwhiskey6543 Thank you(and bingo), collaborating evidence here, hopefully this ameliorates the original question, look to your perks(and horse) for more charge damage, brother.
My head-cannon is that all the side series are cannon, and Zuvan just loves war too much to actually try and win it.
Lol .. there's something to that namely the fact that once you get about a third of the map conquered banner Lord does become very much a rinse and repeat overwhelm the enemy snowball effect and the campaign is effectively over. I have no idea how people have the patience to repeatedly play out a campaign fighting to the very last battle when their enemies outnumbered 100 to 1...

In the smithy's vault I'm afraid. I've had a *few* very good loot items that were close to the same quality, but this is a 89 speed polearm from my grandfather the smith.
