For the 3rd and final day, as usual, I worked my east along the line towards Harrisburg, PA. There was still snow on the ground at my first spot of Tyrone, PA but much less the further east I've got.
The train action I thought was pretty decent with the appearance of the Interstate heritage unit in trail on a westbound trash train (I did see it lead on the eastbound trash during the first night while at the Tunnel Inn - it caught me off guard and I was only able to grab a very short clip which didn't make to the full-length day 1 video). Next up was local train C42 with a trio of GP38-2, which was nice to see (I did see the return trip west but just forgot to push the record button...argh!). Another piece of news I've heard was the old bridge over the tracks at Port Royal, PA will soon be demolished and replaced (as of the video posting, it's probably already gone), so I made sure to stop there for at least one train, which I did, for the westbound Amtrak. I could have shot a few more there but due to cutting it too close (between mine & train's location), I opted for Mifflin, just a few miles west for two westbounds (I only decided to film one of the two due to being backlit).
And that would end my stay on the "rare" winter trip on the NS Pittsburgh Line. Overall, I was very glad that I got to go railfanning somewhere rather than being stuck at the airport due to the chaos of flying. However, I railfanned one more day on the Harrisburg Line before returning home to stay tuned to that video!
