I've saved several of your videos.. i have, almost, the same mower. 50 inch deck, kohler 7000 series, 24hp. Checking the filter before i put the mower away for the winter.
Thanks Flip. I use an angle grinder, as well. Been thinking about getting a knock-off of the All American Sharpener, though. I have 3+ acres and am Sharpening every 3 weeks or so. Thumbs up.
Thanks, Chuck! We actually have an All American Sharpener in the garage where I do groundskeeping. My buddy at work loves using it. I just prefer to do it by hand. Just a matter of preference I guess, but they do give you a precise angle for sure. I just don't normally take the time to hook it up.
Hi Flip! Is there a way to tell which side of the blade should face up towards me when reinstalling? I have an electric push mower and had taken out the blade to sharpen it couple of years back. Can't remember whether I had marked it and paid attention to put it back correctly. Would it still cut grass if put back wrong? Also, just curious what direction the mowers spin. Thanks in advance!
Hello. It would not work correctly if put back on upside down. It is normally written on their somewhere "this side faces grass" or something like that. Check out my video on replacing the blades on an Ego mower and see if that helps you identify which way they go: ruclips.net/video/MUg61Ykc11A/видео.html
The other day I was mowing & was getting a ragged cut it was apparent that my blades need a grind. BUT I was in the mow zone & did not want to take the time to pull them off grind & resume so I kept at it. HOW many times has this happened to us? We are in the mow zone and dont want to stop to sharpen our blades THEN I had a thought WHAT if I had a spare blade, all ground nice & sharp standing by ready to go? Just swapping out blades is a quick job, not as time consuming as grinding which leads to scraping the under deck too. So, thats what I am doing today, Im shopping for a 2nd standby blade. !
@@fixitFlip well it's humid and wet a lot here and since my blade gets rusty, I thought I should paint it. If your blade isn't rusty then I would skip painting it.
I just tip my mower on its side ( make sure you tip the mower with the air filter on the up side) then sharpen the blades with my grinder in place, i dont take the burs of the back side done in one minute. Just be sure to disconnect the spark plug lead from the spark plug please don't go anywhere near those blades with the plug lead on. Best to do when gas tank low also.
Hello, thank you very much for your time and effort. Your videos are already helping thousands of people.
You're welcome!
Flip you are a gentleman and a scholar.
Flattery will get you everywhere Mike. Keep it coming.

Good call! Yes that is very similar. Just a little bigger deck and more HP. Thanks for stopping by again!
@@fixitFlipnot sure how this comment posted here.. meant to leave on your "filter replacement" video.
@@chuckpeters1 I had a feeling. No worries!

And the blades spin clockwise.

!
Good idea. I do that at work and I know lots of commercial guys do as well. Have multiple sets ready go go then sharpen them all at once!
Thanks for helpful video! How much does the balance matter when it comes to ensuring a level cut.
Big time if you don't want your deck vibrating and wobbling!
Great video flip!
Thank u sir! 👊🏻
I also wire brush off the residue and repaint the blade as a final step to reduce further rusting.
Interesting. Never heard of people repainting them before!

@@guitarsid Makes perfect sense. A lot of them come painted!
